I've had all three of these ..the MR2 Spyder is so much better out of the box it isn't even funny. They weigh less than anything that isn't a lotus Elise or HF crx. Somehow 138 of mr2s ponies are more powerful than Mazda's "150" of the era and the wheelbase is the perfect length for stability with mid engine turn in still present. It drives like you thought an aw11 would. With a 2zzge it's about perfect imo. I love the way a ae86 and na feel, but in terms of speed or grip it's not even close and it takes a fortune to get close to a stock mrs

1ZZFE is pretty great for what it is. It’s pretty torquey down low and although it doesn’t have a lot of top end, it’s helped in large part by its VVTI system really maximizing how it uses it’s power compared to the other two cars.
I used to own mrs and goes from 0-60 in 7 seconds flat or high 6s with a pro driver. Its as quick as a celica gts thanks to mr setup for launch

Mr2 with 2zz swap is incredible. 1zz is decent but when I swapped in a 2zz in my mr2 it was so much better😁
I have a 2zz matrix daily, and it is a LOT of fun. A great little engine that just screams.
MRS out of the box would eat all of them stock for stock, slept on cars. I wonder how my fully built AW11 SC would go as upgraded id probably be about 175 WHP.

think about it this way- there is a reason why we are stuck on 10K views. the introduction preamble format is based off of cable television: 20minutes of content with 10minutes of advertising/sponsorship. that’s why tiktok, instagram reels, and youtube shorts hold your attention and interest so much more- the format of is much more mentally engaging to a broader audience. this something i want to play in the background of a doctors office in comparison next to the canceled road and track or car and driver magazine subscription. Hagerty gets around it with gen z video editing, Throttle House use humor, Jason Camissa tries a bit to hard to be off putting and funny, Larry Chen finds unknown worlds, Savagegeese flexes technical detail and odd humor, Speed Academy are great people, Gears and Gasoline is just good fun. Best Motoring, Motorweek, so many things to click

I think I have the secret for the perfect Spyder, I have been working on the balance for years and I have it. My 1zz is stock and that's the way I like it. I would be very confident to up against Simons car.

What if you brought on a unnamed “professional” like the stig to drive the cars separately. That would give a more accurate description of the capability of each vehicle. The guests on the show can learn from feedback the professional is giving and everyone can improve. Someone who can articulate why this car won over that would make it more engaging and leave less people wondering about what ifs

Its definitely got torque but I can't say it feels perfect unless i try a 2zz or k series in the chassis

Ughhhh you had to pick Yuni to drive a miata... She is an awful driver, I mean absolutely awful. Yeah she's a girl and instagram popular but gosh darn it... For references her car is set up similar to mine she was in mid 1:30's I think she was putting down 1:32. something meanwhile I'm setting 1:28's at streets, same day, similar set-ups, she had a plague of people constantly surrounding her coaching her cause girl power and all that jazz.... Sighhhh.... And I'm not the absolute best driver... There is room to do more. Put somebody else in the seat and it could shave alot of time down.
