What a eventful morning at the Cotswold clouds trail sadly this section was cancelled due to a incident glad everyone was okay so here’s the footage we took before thanks for watching like comment subscribe
Fun event...even my wife was screaching and laughing... Well done chaps...you all saved the day... I suppose all the chaps righting that BMW, were souvenir hunters... striped the car in seconds😅😅😅 Good video 😅
In many countries you cannot register a convertible without a roll-bar fitted. It is obvious that the organisers had no provision for recovering a roll-over.
For those wondering what happened to cancel the event: a small open top car went up the run too fast and was bouncing off the sides of the run. It made to under the cameraman but stopped on the bank, and because it was on the bank there was not enough grip for the brake to work properly. This made the car roll back at a significant rate and it went up the bank under the tree on the right of the cameraman on the other side of the course. This made it tip mostly on its side which caused the driver and co-driver to fall out of the car. With the reduced weight the car got back on its wheels, managed to turn around and went straight of the edge of the course, down a steep hill on the far right of the frame. On its way down, it hit a man and his kid (the man managed to shield the child from any direct contact with car). And the car came to a stop when it hit a tree at the bottom of the course. As far as I know, the drivers and the man the car hit walked away from the situation without any life threatening or altering injuries.
That about sums it up like I said in another comment I did have the footage of it all the way to the bottom but choose to leave it out ,it definitely wasn’t nice to watch
I'm a motor club member and two old boys brought a trials-prepped Mk1 Mazda MX5 to a gravel autosolo. It didn't have the wanky chrome roll hoops, but was wearing a Mazda hardtop. Well they turned it over, pancaked the windscreen frame, which did NOT support the weight of the car, crushed the hardtop, but fortunately their heads hitting the ground prevented worse damage to the car. As a result they got to meet the nice paramedics and doctors from the local Air Ambulance, which was terribly exciting for those of us without serious head injuries. Henceforth all convertibles had to have at least a 4 point roll bar and the occupants had to wear crash helmets. I fitted a 4 point roll bar with door bars to my MX5 before the next event, as did everyone else running a MX5.
I dont know why no one did this before? When i bought my mx5 the first thing i did was look up crash video's. After that i installed a rollbar. And i Just drove it on the street.
@@rallyactionuk1322, quite. I co-own a MX5 with a mate. We were running a hardtop with stock style chrome hoops behind the seats We hadn't done any tests at the time the other MX5 went over. I was the only other person present running a MX5 who chose to go out and run a test, but I only did two tests to check the new diff guard, super-duper fabricated rear subframe brace and our new MIG spec differential. After that I put the car on the trailer. My mate refused to run, the big girl. He said, "I have a wife and two kids" to which I replied, 'Oh aye, so I'm expendable then?'
@@cogboy302 You'd be better off without the chrome style bars. They're only attatched to the seat belt mounts, not the rails, They're known for folding forwards when you roll, hence their nickname "decapitators". A proper roll bar, like what hard dog or tr-lane sells will actually support the car when you flip it.
I’m sure it for traction so they got some weight over the drive wheels plus they run the tyres at a low pressure for more grip which can lead to punctures
Thanks the way I felt when it happened was good at all so I thought I’d leave that clip out of the video it definitely wasn’t nice to watch! The bmw roll over was a very slow roll over so I included that clip , I no expect the unexpected
@@rallyactionuk1322 Yeah it was horrific to watch, we arrived just at the couple in the BMW were sorting out their puncture at the bottom and they seemed actually quite jolly
Considering they even entered this event, you’d think he would know how to steer in that situation. That was 100% driver error! And nearly ended very badly…!
Yeah though the same the lock on the wheels as they started to decline was total wrong ,that with the nearly flat back rear tire was a recipe for disaster
@@rallyactionuk1322 Thanks mate! I didn't know you were also a rally fan 😅👊 There was luck on this occasion, but I think the minimum would be the helmet, we are no longer talking about a safety cage which would be a great investment Keep it up, there is great quality in your films 👍
@chopito Yeah love it !!been spectating for about 20 years now now always taking video so I thought I’d start my own channel not so long back thanks for the support , I think some sort of roll bar should be standard !with the helmet of course
What a stupid and dangerous competition ! That's so silly considering it's obvious that these cars are not made to climb muddy hills ! This is so british....(so distinguished people !).

Where can I find out more about this event and when is the next one? Would like to come along as a spectator.
You can’t stop a car rolling over by sticking your hand out.
Was a pretty dump idea ,it was probably just his first reaction tho
Reflex response , I'd like to see you try resist that urge in that situation 😂
@@boysofwexfordonce you've rolled a few cars it becomes easier to do! 😂
Jea, sticking the hand out is the smartes idea.

Glad you enjoyed it ,was a great event ,thanks !apparently the bmw carried on with the event as there were more hills to tackle 😁

I’m not quite sure how it works with the trail events to be honest I see what your saying tho
Organisers shouldn't have let a open top vehicle on that track period ! Bad management

That was taken from the famous Gerald Hoffman... about the man and the wheelbarrow...
Very funny....haha well done...😊
NEVER stick your arm out when you roll over. Fortunately the co-driver was wearing an approved woollen safety hat.
🤣

Seems insane to do this in an open top car! Good luck keeping all you limbs intact if (when) you roll.
Very true! Must have some big balls

Luckily no one was hurt
Can someone please tell me why the cars carry two spare wheels? Thanks
I’m sure it for traction so they got some weight over the drive wheels plus they run the tyres at a low pressure for more grip which can lead to punctures
Good taste not showing the incident, was not a fun one to watch but glad all that were involved are ok. A stark reminder of the dangers of motorsport.

Thought the same you can see him in the end of the video when they turn the car over he comes walking up the hill
Never anything so ridiculously pointless, and dangerous in all my life!!
Everybody love a challenge well maybe not everyone & people seem to love danger must be the thrill
Cor blimmey...... looks like a bunch of pillicks to me😮
Only the brave 😂
Why do this to begin with though? Whats the point?
Just to see who can make it the event has been happening for many many years
Why are they using what looks like knackered old road tyres🤔
Think the cars have to be road legal
How were they not crushed???
I no thought the worse when it went over, luck was on there side ,apparently they carried on with the event for the rest of the day
The one thing I can't understand about trials, is that almost everyone runs convertibles and no seat belts.
I thought the same !there was a lot of covered car but because it got cancelled we didn’t get to see them 😞
Part rock bouncer part Austrlian Burnout pit.
Haha your right there !
Pity the camera angles don't reflect the steepness. Looks flat and easy with just some bad driving!
Your definitely right the hill was so steep ,it doesn’t show that on the video unfortunately
trop drôle emplatrés et sans arceau de sécurité, des galettes pur beurre ! le darwin award de la nullité !
Definitely 💯 only the brave or stupid 😂

@@mesco8200 🤷♂🤦♂
No offence, but the roll over protection they left installed in that Z3 is woeful, even if they are ok "this time"

No roll cage or substantial roll bar in a convertible come on
Glad the folk’s survived daft accidents kill people
I no ! thought the worse when it when over ,like you said ,glad everyone was ok
What a stupid way to destroy a perfectly decen5 car .! 😮
Did look a nice car 🤦🏻♂️
The driver made a silly error.
The Lock on the wheels was the wrong direction as he started to descend and the fact that the rear tire was flat and dug in didn’t help the matter
😮
Was a bit like that !
BMW plank put it's arm out of the car as it rolled.- appropriately sponsored by Darwin & Cabbage ltd.
