- čas přidán 12. 04. 2023
- The Motor Cycling Club’s Annual Easter Saturday Event.
The 99th running of this long distance reliability trial begins at Bridgewater and ends at the notorious Blue Hills sections near St Agnes. 20 sections (hills) are attempted over 24 hours, covering Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. A 350 mile journey.
I was hoping to film more cars, but for the first time my 3 batteries weren't enough!
I absloutely love this! Now everone thinks you need a two-ton SUV to drive up a bloody kerb...
Yeah just airing down tires to 10 psi will nearly double your traction off-road
That model A blasting up without taking a breath was pretty awesome, nearly 100 years old and kicking the mx5s asses.
Not one model A involved
@@campervanbug7658
Apart from the dark blue one at 4,23.
@@AntonHoward-mx9sbI used to have one, they were great climbers

I was all smiles watching these cars and their drivers, thanks for a quality video❤
I agree. It is a all smiles day! Next year will be the 100th event. A little special!
@@denzel240
More smiles than miles.
🍻👨🏭🇨🇦
My mind is finally at ease now that I know what the purpose of X-90 is.
Great stuff. Small and light wins the day, I never thought an MR2 would look cumbersome.
Me neither
It's about time the Council did somethting about those potholes ,.......................
Standing behind a winch cable jesus. Love to send them some videos of the people hit with cables. I myself have been hit by a 1/2 inch steel cable when I was a well driller, ripped me to pieces but luckily it was just a kiss.
And the use of the towing strop with a shackle in the middle and bystanders a few feet away. I’m no health and safety zealot but a shackle in the head is half a day out with the undertaker.
Stop worrying the British Empire wasn't built on worrying mate !
@@GoatOfMendez shackles are load tested
Loads of Darwin award candidates standing around
Totally agree - that thing is 9 types of trouble- just the open spinny bits let alone the cable risk.
Pretty cool seeing the little MG Midget make it up.
Edit: There were a couple of them.
I heard a snapped towing eye whizz past me once, I was about 30 feet away to the right of the truck that was winching..
Well that looks like a lot of fun
Thank you for giving me another reason to buy a small British sports car!!!
Go for it!
AMAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!
Lovely to see. Cars very delayed this year, so there was only so much I could watch before wife and children called time! Nice to catch up on some of what we missed! Thank you.
Thnaks for your message Robert. There should have been more cars filmed, but my 3 batteries weren't enough to last the day!
Brilliant bit of sport this, one Motorsport i have yet to witness
Excellent !! J'adore !! MERCI
Quite a shock to see the '38 Chevrolet on your side of the pond, love these events! Cheers, from New Hampshire.
Thanks 👍 A one off and no mistake!
love it, thanks guys
We were watching from the other side of the valley and was rooting for the Chevy....
Better luck next year...
Good to see a young looking Mr Wetheral 👍 😁😁
R E S P E C T ! ! !
This video is brought to you by Bobs Clutch and tire repair.
For some reason this kinda thing seems distinctly British.. I couldn’t imagine any American taking anything but the biggest 4x4s up something like that, it’s honestly incredible what adding lightness does
Great video & excellent sound (no wind noise)
Thanks for the message WarGrade. Tis my fluffy mic that helps. You can’t beat a fluffy mic! 😊
@@denzel240 Ahh who dosent like it fluffy, mine is in car with a mic, but I will have to look at something else for the next event
That's great. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for your message Warren. Glad you enjoyed it.
The older vehicles seem to fare much better than the newer stuff. Should I read in to that?
I would say, it's about ability, not power 😉
I think it's just that they were designed to drive in such conditions while modern cars are not expected to ever leave the asphalt.
Low end torque is better in older engines. Makes it easier to modulate power a slow speeds. You can actually hear it. The newer models rev a lot and lose traction when the clutch isn’t modulated perfectly.
Amazing thanks for sharing👍👍
Glad you like it. It is a great event
It's better than throwing money out the window
This is awesome. Haha.
hmm those rocks flying all around..
Good old-fashioned!
Finishing my 12 year cj5 project.
👍S2U.
The last white car was a 1938 chevy master coupe. I have one fully restored and this video made my heart hurt watching them trash this beautiful classic car.
Trash???
That's what it was MADE FOR
Use them , don't HIDE them!!

This is WAY better than watching jacked-up Jeeps.
Not an advert for macho SUVs was it😂😂
We was there today and filmed it for CZcams
The MGB cruised up!
Yes it did surprisingly well!
I sold my MGB to my sister over 40 years ago and she still has it.@@ferrumignis
Great video, I liked the old Sunbeam (possibly?) 4:38 and a Fugitive 7:17 .
Car No: 224 (4:35) was a Ford Model "A". It replaced the venerable Model "T", so I'm told. Yes you are right about Car No: 227 (7:17), a V-dub Fugative. Glad you liked the video.
@@denzel240 Ah cool. It certainly chugged up a treat. A local guy to me used to knock out the Fugitive 3. Mid engined version. Looks a fun event, thanks for sharing.
Absolut crazy ......
The Manx Buggy was probably the best suited car for this rally
Cars like the DP Ford at 5:45, the Lieges at 6:45 and 9:00 and the Troll T6 at 9:14 are designed and built specifically for trials. The Manx did very well but just look at the ridiculous amount of camber that swing axle design gives when the suspension is raised. I bet that thing is a horror to drive on roads.
It's more likely that the bumper will fly off. Old car = old steel.
I reckon that strap would have a decent amount of recoiled energy to release in an instant.
Pulling like that on that strap had me worried
🤙💯👍😎
Hope they weren’t expecting to have a trouble free drive home in those cars!
Nice !
Thanks!
That 38 Chevy weighs about 3000lb. A little heavy for such an ascent.
1938 Chevy
😅Can you imagine how many "spare wheels" Adrian Newey would get on aRed Bull Dellow?
Only 2wd right?
Yes, only 2WD permitted.
Una prueba muy dura y pobres coches y embragues
Just as bonkers as those who has to go through Rufford Ford… 😂
Poor having a Spectacular Time !
Hi there diptheclutch, I'm trying to find the organiser of this event, as it used to always come through our village in North d3von but sadly it didn't this year, its been mentioned that someone complained and so they diverted through another village, we'd love for it to come back through us here in Bradworthy next year but I can't find the organiser. Can you help please 🙃 I'm an x closed staged rally driver and would love to see a few mk2 coming through 😄
Many thanks for the message Debbie. It’s not often Organisers are asked to take a route through a village! Bradworthy, yes I remember (many years ago) coming up from Cornwall to compete in a road rally not so far from your village. The start and finish were at Shebbear.
The Land’s End Trial is organised by members of The Motor Cycling Club (www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/ ). Go to the contact page.
Theres 4wds that cant even get up there😅
catch stones, people
That's were I'm from boy
My heart bleeds seeing the classic cars beeing full throttled up the hill 😢
Why, doing what they should be doing, being enjoyed, then fixed to go again.
@@daveyboy174 until its unfixable because no parts left to buy for it.. at some point its lost forever..
These guys just make stuff to fix them. Much better than sitting rotting away in a garage somewhere. To be honest most have probably been saved from scrap yards just for this.
Thanks for the video ! .👍 Was 4 wheel drive not allowed ?
Unfortunately not

Love this. I need to know more. We Yanks don't have anything like this.
Are you joking? We have all this and so much more lmao
@@Dillybar777 seriously? i
actually think U.k. car culture is better than U.S. you guys do hill climbs and rallies and these trials. I NEED to go there to see this stuff.
Brits have the added ability that we like to make life as difficult as possible for ourselves, we're much happier loosing. Lol.
Our cars are quite petite and low powered too.

what was the last car?
1938 Chevrolet Coupe.
Jesus... let's all just stand along a winch cable under tension, shall we? LOL
Yes, what is wrong with these people... don't they know that a snapped cable or connection can kill the spectators ??
So dangerous.
What could possibly go wrong 🤦♂️
These are the same people who stand within inches of bikes going 200 mph at the IOM
I’ve been to lands end that’s as exciting as it gets
Great record would be good to have covered more of the 150 vehicles - thanks
Thanks for your comment jon. I was sorry not to include more cars this year, but for the first time ever my 3 batteries weren’t enough to last the day! I intend buying 2 more for next year!
@2:07 who is the team in the TR7?
What was the last car?[ swiss] a Javelin ?
The last car on the video (No:293) is on the entry list as a Chevrolet, Master Coupé, 3548cc. It was too heavy for the normal winch to haul, so digger to the rescue. Quite a wagon!
1938 Chevy Coupe.
is that Automation music at the beginning?
"Scapes" by Silent Partner. From the CZcams library. Good isn't it!
It's so great to see old classics get abused, they are just cars afterall, and pretty much anything can be fixed.
is just rear-wheel -drive cars allowed?
FWD are also allowed, but not 4WD
Not 1 stock vw beetle, i did see z 2 rebodied .
This was a tiny selection of the 300+ cars in the trial. There were several Beetles in the event, just not in this video.
What car is the thumbnail car
It's the one that features at the end of the video - a 1938 Chevrolet I think.
5:12 what kind of car is this??
According to the official programme this car is a Troll.
Ci vuole la Panda 4x4
First song name?
Scapes by Silent Partner. From the CZcams library. Good isn't it!
These english are crazy.
A lot of those classic sports cars and doing that to them . My GOD poor cars getting beat up . I would love to own one . If I did I would never ever do that to it . Yes I would drive it down a country lane and take good care of it .
I would prefer to see these old vehicles used and enjoyed than sat in a garage and trailered to car shows
My GOD, someone crying about relatively low value cars being used in motorsport because they can't afford to do it themselves.
Absolutely unsafe for the crowd. But thank you for sharing 👍
Don't watch rally or baja racing if this bothers you😅
The crowd choose to watch despite the risks
Guessing you haven’t watched a Rally before? This is TAME
Mom: Can we have Pikes Peak?
Mom: We have Pikes Peak at home.
The Pikes Peak at home….
Must be restricted to rear wheel drive. No SAABs or Renault R5s
There were several FWD vehicles that competed but they aren't in this video. No R5s, but there was a Saab 96 and a Peugeot 205 won the class.
Could you imagine a Tesla …….😂😅
Brits! 😂
Jeep? What’s that?
And that's the point, a jeep is built for that, a car isn't, it makes it a little bit harder to do.

I would like to have a trial (see what I did there?) at this. Can I borrow your car?
Where is this mtfs ?

@@ferrumignis Yes. Motherf.....
I think this is not 2023.. the film quality is not of today's HD quality
I think you are a very confused person, the quality of an amateur made video on YT has little bearing on the date it was made. This was 2023, easily confirmed by checking the entry list.
I feel sorry for these cars, specifically the vintages and classics!
I feel sorry for you being unable to enjoy motorsport because you are so worried about the cars.
Wtf is going on
La gente están irracional ¡ aplaudiendo en un lugar donde vuelan piedras que con el impulso les puede reventar la cabeza
What's the purpose of driving a road car on off road conditions?
It's very dangerous for the driver and very damage full for the cars!
Lot of fun, indeed!!!
Do you think a SUV would handle the track any better? I have seen Italian families driving up Colle Sommeiller in a Fiat Panda better than adventurer tourists in their fckn 4x4.
Great to see Trolls still making it look easy! My brother used to build them, along with the late, great Peter James back in the 80s before Troll took on any new meaning. Purpose-built classics trials cars that knocked Dellows into a cocked hat😊
@@franktechmaniac7488 you have to know how to drive a 4x4. Its completely different from a saloon car!
Fiat panda has a central differential lock and a low range gearbox which makes it an off roader car.
@@samuraijapan8746 The standard Fiar Panda is a fwd car, only the old Panda 4x4 is what you say.
No respect for the old transmissions and the rest!
Deplorable deporte o como lo llamen. Romper, estropear vehículos antiguos.
La verdad es que me parece una reverenda estupidez lo de está gente, que sentido tiene destruir un coche en caminos que no son adecuados para la que fueron diseñados,en fin ...
So basically this is a sport designed to destroy classic cars.
Not all the cars are classic plus the cars are still being used rather than left to rot
It's a long distance reliability trial which includes some rough sections.
I know people who do this race every year, that's all that car does it's a race car he repairs it, and it sits till next year, he's run that trail since 1975 and I would still love to have his car, junk I think not.
So basically you are an angry person that cares more about the fate of cars than motorsport.
Why would anybody want to try and drive a sports car up what is a 4x4 track beats me.
Poor country folk run what they got
Cows need fed....
That's what life's about , helmets be good too see ? Stay safe.
Am I alone in hating seeing these classic cars abused and damaged?
Nein!

Is there really a point to this ? Idiots next to steel cables , silly little gravel slope - after years doing observed motorcycle trials with serious obstacles this seems very lame.
Quite a few of the bikes don't make it. Mind you they have been in the saddle nearly 24 hours by the time they get to this section.
