I miss my Gti-R. Sold it in 2003 and regret the day it went. It was a clean Version and if I could find one now I would buy another. The best DRIVERS car I’ve had or driven. Pure engagement !!

Had 2 but my 2nd full HKS Hiteq built HKS cams pistons crank everything ,tein coilovers servos. Huge stage 3 turbo front mount big injectors power fc in car tuning systems front mount 450bhp 500bhp ,strut braces to bottom , back from poly Bush's, mongose ,sparco seats, paddle clutch ,black with dark green full respray , AP brakes...... unbelievable 25psi reliable....... should of roll caged it back seats out with decals .......... unbelievable car...........track car
Loved every bit of owning a Pulsar Gtir for 7 years.
Only downside was having so many transmission issues.
Sold it since then owned Impreza gc8 ra for 8 years as a weekend toy :).

Thats a perfect car inside and out. He can tune so much more out of that engine being fully forged now. It was the only SR with individual TBs

This so makes me miss my one. I bought mine in 2001 shortly after being imported, when nobody knew what on earth i had until they got in, but sold it a year later. It was in the same colour, black, with completely bog standard aside from sump guard and HKS mushroom induction kit. It was still on the road until last year, but now off road again. H849 JVM.
Always liked the pulsar and I would buy one right now if I had the funds. Only thing that lets this down as a personal opinion is the exhaust.

Never seen a GTI-R in that color combo. Not usually a fan of leather, as my cars would usually have a set of Recaro's but those seats and matching door cards look great. This is a nice build. Too bad we never got these in the states unless it was imported. Always loved them.

Had one in 2001 - H849 JVM (290BHP) when they weren't much heard of. Mine was imported. Missed it ever since. It's still on the road to this day, who knows where.

My mate had one of these it was a mad car 160mph
Had a well tuned one 15 years ago, never lost a race, apart from on the motorway doing a 120 mph rolling start vs a dodge viper. Still wish I had one. Their going for silly money now.

How much power did it have again? Haha! Great cars!! I owned one for several years, went through 3 gearbox rebuilds and a transfer box - but that was part of the fun back then.
Love them, always will - you'll never get rid of the bug once you've owned one.....shame that all these cars from the last great era are skyrocketing in price now
The cherry turbos before the pulsar were stupidly quick cars in their day aswell 👌

it only needs the intercooler out at front rather than the mesh that would make the front better. otherwise its awesome
Nice review Jamie, if I remember this correctly though the SR20 in these have quad throttle bodys unlike the 200SX/Silvia etc so the engines a little different

Correct they have solid lifters and nothing s14/15 will fit on the engine
Thetransporter isn't the majority of the block the same? Just minor differences such as the lifters and throttle bodies?

Great car !!! I had own a tuned Mazda 323 GT-R when i was younger. That was the same concept, 4 wd, turbo,1200 kg, homologisation car for Group A rally car. where they won some rallies..Off them it was made totally 400, TOTALLY in the whole World, between 1991-1994. I loved that car and still miss it. Now its impossible to find a car that has survived =(
Those 323s had awful gearboxes
For street use they hold up pretty good with up too 350 Hp if you drove with the brain. But people that rally with them had it worse cause of all the bumps on a rallystage so they needed to shim the boxes to get them hold up. But after that it was no big problem. The oem gearboxes had a bit to big play between the axles in the box, thats why they hold up so much better when they where shimed.. And those who not shimed the box, some of they converted it to FWD with the regular 323 F gearbox or to the Toyota GT-4 St-185 gearbox (4-WD), it fit with quite small changes . But I drove almost 150 000 km ( 93205.67 miles)with about 350 HP and the oem gearbox, without problems
Good to hear mate. Boxes on any car will only give trouble if you abuse it. I daily a gtir and my box is perfect.
You´re still living the dream :)) When i had mine it was my dreamcar. Now 6 STI´s later i Daily a 640 HP/ 700 NM STI-16, It quite ok that to. :)

Very nice rounded package. Though let's be realistic 400BHP is like a genuine 330hp at the wheels. Still plenty for a car of that size and 4WD....
