It is a shame to see how SM squandered their talent. They really could have been so much bigger.
As long as the members still huge popular, they will be successfully make it. Doesnt matter they do it in sub unit or individually, EXO will never fall or end, because their trade mark, still up high. The proof? Releasing individual albums, individual or group fan meetings are all successful. For example, Baekhyun's Asia's Solo Tours made it successfully. Doesnt matter they're in the group or individually, as long as they're tremindously successful in every thing they do, either its in sub units, individually or in their group EXO would never end or fall, why? Because their fans, exols and individual, they supported them loyally and faithfully. So no matter what EXO is still EXO. That's their Legacy forever! WE are ONE!!! Long live EXO....we all love you, forever!!! To me EXO is biggeur thayn any kpop group, why theyre thei Richest kpop group and a Nation's Pick, no one else!
All the problems they faced are mainly due to mismanagement of their company, so what you said is on-spot. Even if all members leave SM, it won't impact their careers and popularity.

It's not their downfall. They are still very much appreciated and loved by fans and general public, despite everything they have been through. Exo has lost members, there have been false accusations, idiotic petitions to remove a member because he started a family and got married, mistreatment by their company, a 6 year military service hiatus, and much more, yet they remain standing. 6 years of not being able to have a full group tour (more if you start from when Lay could not participate) Not many groups can go through this and still remain standing. Not many have had such a long military service hiatus, most of the time it's way less then that. So no, it's not their downfall. Be it as a group, or as soloists, EXO will remain.
EXO will always be Kings wherever they go. Without any promotion, the song First Snow became number 1 again after 10 years. That's the power of EXO and EXO-Ls. SM Ent is not just fighting EXO-CBX-it's also fighting millions of die hard EXO-Ls. We are one.
I don't know who to blame Exo or the company, but I think if SM had not pulled Exo down for Superm, they would have been elsewhere.

BTS were alone at Top Of kpop , but Two groups had Potential to be at top with them and One had the potential to surpass them :- exo & B.A.P would have been bigger than BTS if their company would have Treated them Fair , but it was all history
HOW is this the downfall ? Every group no matter how BIG will eventually come to this point, its like getting enlightened. Everyone knows their worth and will not settle for less, maybe they wont gather like before but they still are a group, its new genz turn to make group songs, everyone ultimately wants to go solo, like big bang, got7, exo, that does not mean they disbanded

EXO 's discography has the most timeless songs nd the relationsship of the members has been tested on a regular basis, but they remain loyal to each other despite being ruined by their own agency and the media coz they do not conform and allowd themselves to be pimped heavily to the west. If there's just 1 group that could last 5 more decades, it would be EXO.

Only Baekhyun and Kyungsoo are making sold out. Also SM don’t have big actors, they’re literally know for the opposite, in the list of 200 actors made by KOFIC only Kyungsoo was there, the only one who got nomination in big awards ceremonies… but he left SM. And if they have more fans every year we should ask ourselves where they are, because the numbers doesn’t go up in their solos and even for the group, their last 3 albums are either being outsold or outstream by baekhyun/Kyungsoo/Kai solo albums.
