The p switch was for the 2 blocks blocking the pipe. To let the koopas out. You broke the blocks from above with a spin jump instead. I thought he was gonna keep the wall up blocking the goal and make you do a shell jump - hence the keep the shell theme. Still ok i guess.

Thought the title might be a bit clickbaity but that was legit.
Seeing most of the levels today, I feel like Ryu should start a new series. Something on the lines of "Find that Cheese", where he finds Dev Exits, and skip certain parts of the level. It goes well with Ryu's playstyle and his love for cheese. Can be a great new series as we are heading towards #100 on both the Super Expert Series. :D

I found dev exit in that red coin level... left a comment for you there... it is near thwomp had to cheese it with P switch though, so you can still beat my time if you can reach it of the thwomp directly without cheesing p switch
So it was a hidden block? I thought maybe you needed to take a pow and kill the thwomp to get a key.

The hero we need
you have to bounce off the thwomp a bit after it starts rising again (or maybe if you're a robot you can do it while he's coming down). I could get ~8s this way but the record is now 7.5
I thought too maybe just enough time to get a POW to kill the thwomp
I think the P-switch on the last level was to release the Koopas from the pipe, but you just used your bigness to break the blocks.

I think in case of the ice level it wasnt a dev exit, but, considering the first door that let's you skip a part, more like a badly made "secret"
When you clear-check a level, checkpoints don't count, you have to beat the level in one take. So the dev key was used to bypass that, because beating that entire level in one-take is way harder than having checkpoints to rely on.
@@williamhang8015 I know, but that's still a dev exit so people will want to cheese. It was a cool level and definitely beatable in 1 go though.
I would wait near the end of my dev skip level so my clear speed isn’t 20 seconds in a level that clearly should take longer than 20 seconds, but I don’t own this game so maybe there is a way that it wouldn’t work

Which pow? The POW at 11:30 was behind a one-way.
the doors were all blocked by one ways so you couldn't go back with the pow. The key is in a hidden block just to the left of the thwomp. you have to spin jump off the thwomp to reach it.
There was a one-way gate in the POW room. Couldn't go back in the door.
Everyone’s talking about the P switch clutch, while I’m still in awe of the inhuman dodging at 4:03 - 4:30. The fact that he made it out of there alive is unreal.
This title should just be titled "I expose Dev exits" - should make a series destroying dev exit levels lol.
And after that amazing clutch we never heard from Ryu ever again. Some say hes in the bahamas with his lovely wife. Others say hes living his best life. Whatever it maybe we will all remember this day in history.

I always assumed dev exits were used by creators who wanted to make unique or challenging stages but weren’t skilled enough to beat their own stage from start to end. I’ve now realized it’s usually just laziness…
Ryu, those red coin rooms had doors with spikes above them and a 1-way.
It seems pretty obvious to me, the dev key is in a kaizo block directly underneath those spikes. You go in a door, get the key, and go back through.

"Why even make the level bro? Why even make it at all?" Because people are more creative than they are skilled at playing the game themselves, and make levels outside their playing skill range.
And the point is... they shouldn't. Their levels aren't even properly tested so it's 'assumed someone might be able to complete it'. Garbage level of thinking.
@@Willowisp927 Obviously the various sections of the level are more than doable- you can see people do similar easily in many videos released since at least 2015, if not older with LPers playing SMW hacks- and they likely tested them individually as they made them, but don't have the skill to do it themselves in a single run. That doesn't mean it's not doable, not by a long shot.
So, in short? Nah, you're garbage for calling it garbage level of thinking.
I don't know what's more insane: The fact that none of these levels had been beaten yet, that so many of them had dev exits or that incredible P-switch clutch.

You should do an episode where you go on the hunt for dev exits on uncleared levels. Check clear times, or if a level seems suspiciously difficult to see if it merits investigating for a dev exit. I've seen some very crafty exits given away by a low clear check time or WR.

i think why theres so much easy uncleared levels like these is because if your level isnt brain dead easy, people just auto boo your level and leave after dying once. And once you get 10 boos your level stops getting showcased. I used to delete and reupload them until ive got "a lucky start" but I got tired of doing that and just quit.
remember when this game came out and people were booing levels in endless if they didnt have 3 1-ups
