  • Fuel Pressure Regulators can go bad. They can cause gas leakage, rough running vehicles, a strong gas smell inside of the vehicles, and it can be a potential vehicle fire hazard. Here's a video to help you determine if your fuel pressure regulator is bad.

There has been a gas smell that comes put through the vents (stronger with the heater on), rough cold start (very loud), and cuts off (every now and then) after cold start. Now, the gas smell turns into...like a peanut smell off and on. The dealership told me that, "The vents are not
    'connected to the fuel line."😒
This is a brand new car...got it last month and was in the shop before. I was told, then, that they couldn't find anything "mechanically wrong" with it.

I got a 85 Chevy Caprice I got up and running for about a month, after it sat for a couple years. All was well until it started running real rough out of nowhere, so I parked it. Looked under the hood and noticed gas coming from the part mentioned in this vid. Hopefully a quick replacement will do the trick. Thanks for your time and info 💯

That’s what I thought my problem was. I have a 86 Corvette. Never drove one before I bought it so I didn’t know how it was supposed to feel. But it was shaking at idle. Then one day it didn’t start correctly and it liked stalling a lot. I almost bought a new battery and a fuel filter because I listened to people who think they know a lot when they don’t 🤦‍♂️ I’m glad I watched this video tho thank you I almost wasted money

The fuel rail may have something that looks like a pressure regulator, but it's actually a pulse damper to reduce pressure pulsation and fuel pump noise. The mechanical pressure regulator is part of the fuel pump module that includes the pump, a reservoir, the gauge sending unit and a fuel flter.

2006 gmc savana, 4.3l v6...been having issues with starting it, when she starts running she burns rich(black exhaust) for a bit and then levels out. I thought it was a vaccum issue but didn't find any when I looked. I checked a couple of sensors, relays, etc...all good.
Fuel pressure regulator makes a lot of sense but I didn't even consider it, mainly due to not being a mechanic for the passed 20 years... but also because it's hard to think straight when working on a vehicule at -15° 🥶😄

Hi! 😊 So I have a problem and I beleive this may solve the problem. HOWEVER, I am not sure. Because I initially thought there was air in my gas line or whatever. Because I ran out of gas. So when I finally filled up, my 2002 chevy trailblazer was almost vibrating. It doesnt feel like chugging. But it sounds loud outside of the car. Sounds more rumbly/chuggy. Feels more like vibrating though. In my mind,, theres a difference. Lol. I did some research and I came to that conclusion only due to the fact my car was prob suckin on air for at least a second right?😂 I am sorry, I don't know a lot about cars, but I am learning. I just need help on this one. And your video was very helpful/well done. I just dont want to take this apart if I am looking in the wrong direction. I thought I smelled gas but it was not a straight clear gas smell. It almost smelled dirty...?idk. Like a tiny hint, almost of...exhaust? If anyone has gotten this far or even seen this comment, I will be very surprised. If anyone has any idea what I am talking about and is willing to help, I would be so thankful!

These things were NOTORIOUS for leaking in the Toyota 4Runner and Avalons with V6. Not a cheap part either.

Chevrolet Malibu had this issue. Of course, it had others
... like dexcool, pressure regulator, MAS failure, random shutoff when going over train tracks.

I just watched your video. My Dodge Dakota idles very rough when I'm warming it up in the morning and revs itself up (Very high) when it nearly dies. Lately when I drive it just a mile the engine cuts off when making a sharp turn, or just cuts off if I'm at a traffic light or stop sign. Also a few times there has been white smoke coming in the air vents that smells like exhaust. Could this also be the fuel pressure regulator? Thank you

05 Ford Taurus. Just before it got bad there was a squealing, kind like a belt was having some problem turning on a pulley. Car would die going slow or stopping for traffic, but start easily. Lost compression, gas smell building, running rough, with a sound like some of the vacuum hoses were off, lots of PUH...PUH...PUH from the passenger side hood, car has been a great one for it's age, but after this started, would only go at about 25-30 mph, with gas pedal floored. I can't afford a big mechanic bill, can't afford to buy another car (senior, fixed income, and yeah let's just say it, a woman.) but I need a car as I live six miles from anything. So, do you advize fixing or getting something else? Let me repeat, car starts EASILY, but won't run faster than 25-30 mph, with heavy gas smell. Please need advice.
