  • Here is the part 1 of my roses first flush garden tour. My zone has micro climate that affects my roses blooming, potential black spot problem on roses or get lucky and have roses that are thriving with very minimal issues. Showcasing the roses I planted south side and how even at 2 yr old they perform very well. Hope you enjoy this video!
    I am a Dental Assistant, a cat momma, and love gardening. I am close to Canada border and my climate experience would attest that my zone is dependent to what’s going on in Canada 😂, so My zone is more of 7b a lot of times than 8A. I specially love English romantic roses, English style of gardening, meaning balance clean structural gardening designs,
    and of course houseplants! Drop me questions and I will share you my personal journey tips on growing them. Enjoy watching and don’t forget to subscribe. Have a great day folks!

      Last year I gave bio a dance 3 in one fertilizer and wasn’t as happy like he usually is. This time he liked his food I think 😁

    Your roses are beautiful. I have several of the same ones you have. I would like to know if you think the Emily Bronte and Eustacia Vye are very similar, so that if one has a small space, it may not be worth having both. Thank you.

      Hello there! Thank you! The two are so different in so many ways, color of blooms, growth habit, and scents will give you good subjects of comparison,

    Breath taking!!! Please tell us what do u do to keep the rise plant diseases at bay like black spot, fungus...plz let us know.

    • @IsshaGreenThumbing
      @IsshaGreenThumbing  Před 2 měsíci

      I don’t spray, I rely on balance bio ecosystem, I clean the base of plants so fungal disease wouldn’t be a systemic health problem

    Thank you for sharing your beautiful roses. I, too, am a David Austin rose collector. What is your secret to disease resistance, particularly black spot, as your roses’ leaves all look so healthy!

    • @IsshaGreenThumbing
      @IsshaGreenThumbing  Před 2 měsíci

      Remove the infected leaf right away, discard and don’t use it for mulch or compost, Also when watering, don’t wet the foliage

    • @user-mt9zk1it3u
      @user-mt9zk1it3u Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you, I do remove affected leaves as I see them, do not compost them and do not water the leaves. Some of my roses are unaffected, some are more prone to black spot so am using a natural fungicide spray which is helping to control it.

      @@user-mt9zk1it3u Good! I have a rose that is susceptible to black spot and no matter what I do, I still see some foliage getting it..it’s the moonlight in Paris, I am waiting for it to be older and more resistant as their health becomes stronger like what happened to my Gertrude Jekyll..

    Do you do anything special to make their blooms so large? I have Golden Celebration and Abraham Darby, but they never have such large blooms.

      when potted, change the upper 50% of its soil and give it fresh compost mix 50/50 of your own choice of potting soil then mix with generous application of bone meal , water, water then after a week I apply fish fertilizer.. water water water

      How often do you repot your roses ?
      Do you prune the roots.
      I planted 5 DA roses in pots last year and wasn’t very happy with their performance…I’ll give them another chance this spring.

    • @IsshaGreenThumbing
      @IsshaGreenThumbing  Před 2 měsíci

      When re potting try not to disturb any roots or it won’t perform as well which is challenging to do, repotting they say should be done every 3 years, haven’t done that, instead just remove the top 50% of soil and refresh with new compost

    There's a world of roses apart from what Austin has produced...especially when it comes to other shapes and growth habits. Find it strange when people start and stop rose collections with their hybrids. So many amazing historic cultivars and central European and French varieties to pick from.

    • @IsshaGreenThumbing
      @IsshaGreenThumbing  Před 2 měsíci

      I saw some, really beautiful EU varieties. it’s a matter of availability and hardiness in my climate.

    Do you have any suggestions for companion plants for roses?

    • @IsshaGreenThumbing
      @IsshaGreenThumbing  Před 2 měsíci +1

      My personal pick is anything blue or purple flowering would really give highlight and it’s a plus if it deter bugs like rosemary, lavender, etc
