I’m late but Astral sorcery is an extremely powerful magic mod that has many different uses.
It has not been updated since 1.16
Astral Sorcery and Thaumcraft are two of my favorites, but neither has been updated in years.
I wish it got updated because that was a lot of fun
Was my a favorite for making an infinite ore set-up that was also visually impressive
Man i miss thaumcraft
One that wasn't on this list, that i definitely recommend is Primal Magick, I don't know how to explain it, but it is just so amazing.

Idk if it was a thing when this video was made, but if you want something that feels at home in the vanilla game, Spells & Shields looks pretty cool.
if youre playing an older edition, or if you wanna use the legacy version of the mod, i would recommend ars magica, which if im not mistaken ars nouveau is based on
If you want to play a REALLY older version (latest is 1.12), I'd recommend Thaumcraft. It's amazing, deep, well guided and in-game documented, and really has its own take on the whole concept of magic.
Mana and Artifice is also based on it

What exactly is the difference between Manna And Artifice and Ars Newveuru (probably spelled that poorly)?
Both mods are based on the same Ars Magica mod, they do things very similarly but Ars Nouveau is a little simpler to manage. Mana & Artifice is like the Advanced version, with more steps to making spells and higher requirements to advance.
I don't play too many magic mods tbh, I might try some in an RPG mod pack tho
Need someone to play with? MC Eternal? I prefer expert packs like E6E and dungeons dragons and spaceships.

Id play it by itself and learn how to play with it first, if you use too many magic mods together it can be overwhelming, id recommend try out the Blood Magic mod or Botania though, those are quite unique.

That tends to happen when your entire modloader is more about the other modloader than modding. Forge modders talk about minecraft and modding, fabric modders talk about how much they hate forge.

I cant say for sure, but thatd be nice. I prefer Forge but i know a lot of Fabric users are missing out on mods like this, as those of us mainly using Forge are missing out on a lot of Fabric mods too. Mojang need their own mod framework thats universal.
