The 18$ Classwiz FX991EX does majority of what Ti83+ does but for far cheaper and in terms of graphical calculators, 50$ HP and Casio beat it hands down. But schools don't allow them and it's turned into a monopoly because they don't care about you
@@lilyliao9521 Yep, TI folks lobbied the school boards for some crony capitalism. In time others would to so it does not make sense in the modern era. There are tons of approved calculators. A sneaky argument they used as far back as 1990 when I was in high school was, "if all calculators were allowed it would give more affluent folks better grades in math compared to poor students". Ha, so they made the poor parents pay for more the higher priced graphing calculators at a slight discount like complete chads. I think it was the TI81. For years this stood, and then other folks started lobbying just to compete with them, and TI still does to this day.
Honestly pisses me off the CZcams algorithm won’t work for his channel. Each video like this should be hitting at least 20mil views. He puts so much work into these videos and literally does stuff no one has ever done

I work as a consultant radiologist at Manchester Royal Infirmary, and my colleagues and I love watching your videos, which inspired us to Install MS DOS 2.1 as the primary operating system on our MRI scanner. To our astonishment, it actually works.
This afternoon we performed a brain scan on a 47 year old patient with a head injury, during which I made several attempts to delete all the information in his brain using the DEL command.
Obviously this did not work. However I did manage to execute the FORMAT command, and much to our amusement this actually worked, and our patient is now on life support with negligible brain function!
If anyone knows how we can reinstall our patient I would love to hear any tips, eg. which OS would be suitable. Failing this, does anyone know where I can buy a fake passport ?

@@AntiComunaBRit isn’t fake, it just transfers the screen data to the screen that he added on the calculator, the other cables are used so that when he presses a button on the ti-83 calculator, it will act as a keyboard and interact with the pc. Therefore, you are only half correct

Been there done that except when I started really gaming on the TI-83 I ended up shoving the guts of a gameboy into it. They're perfect for reducing the odds getting caught while goofing around during math class.

old graphing calculators make fun portables honestly. I haven't gone out and set mine up with the software yet, but I know for a fact that you can run tetris, wolfenstein 3d, and pacman on even the really old two-tone ones. I finally got the serial cable for mine, so I jsut need to get a serial port onto my pc

The fact that you were able to basically turn a ti 83 into a computer monitor *and* run it at around 30+ fps, which has basically never been done before amazes me.
