Dude! That's a CueCat! During Dot-Com 1.0, those things were given away to people with the idea they would scan a barcode in ads or whatever with them and it would take them to a website or something. Peak 1990's QR code, but a decade before a smartphone existed to integrate camera input with a browser. They output PS/2 Keyboard, unencrypted, IIRC. People hacked the shit out of them bac before you were born.
Okay, the hackers just used them to better keep track of their grocery purchased, BUT IT WAS THE GODDAMN 90'S AND THEY WERE FREE.
Somewhere out there is another device that was essentially a keychain fob with a button you could press to take a snapshot of the time. The software would cross-reference that info with a list of tracks from your local (participating) radio station. You could find out what song it was tat you liked on the radio and (I think) order the CD online! Yeah, MP3's were definitely already a thing, and yeah, people tried to hack this as well since it was also free. A lot of things were free in Dot-Com 1.0

And she said that I could have it if I could get in to it cause she had forgotten the code so then I had to lookup a tutorial on how to get in to it and I messed up a few times and then I had finally gotten into it and in order to do it I had to go in to an os where you can enter commands and that was so hard cause of how many times I kept on missing the steps so props to you for knowing how to code man

Man, seeing that CueCat scanner was a blast from the past. You used to be able to solder one wire from point to point on the board of those and turn them into a regular barcode scanner. I used one in 2000 in part with a personal book collection tracker program I wrote to read all the ISBN labels on books tied to an API to ingest the info about the books. I had totally forgotten about this.
You got a repo anywhere of this? Sounds super fucking dope, most smartphones can read barcodes so I’d imagine integrating a social/reader reviews aspect tied to the each book barcode could make it a useful tool for readers looking for recommendations or advice before buying

I have that same tiny phone, bought it to use as a touchscreen remote.
The battery is equally small is the one issue I have with it.
You should use Moonlight and Sunlight on a gaming PC and a raspberry pi and stream the gaming PC to a very tiny setup. That way you can get both good fps, and the tiny set up all in one package
