You should be fine regarding the console scare. The game opens a fake cmd console. The "command" (grant is not a real command prompt which is kind of a clue) opens a batch file to make it look like its downloading something while also entering the message through a set of key taps.The dev has responded to that in a review and I also checked it. Totally understand why you got scared.
I'm responsible for a lot (not all) of sfx and music for this project and finished couple days ago, happy to see gameplays and happier to see you like it :D Thanks for showcasing it!

This one has a bit more effort than most games like it. Kinda hoping for a sequel, as someone tries to stop the elder god they let into the world.
I love it when people experiment with genre-shifting, blending techno/science horror with a creeping transition into supernatural/cosmic horror. Effectively done.
This one also seems to be a tribute to inspirations/references as well, bloody brilliant execution.
Having to turn in early to work OT on a Saturday: bleh.
Getting to unwind and relax to a 2hr. vid from CJU before bed: stress eliminated.

The full game does seem considerably changed from the demo, as I remember it. All for the better. Fazerdoo definitely leaned into the surrealism, as I'd hoped, and gave you, Chris, the light source and map you wanted. It was really fun to watch you play in one go! Thanks for that. And thanks for having the _cojones_ to enter that exe file. I wouldn't have. 😅

It's bad. I'm usually not bothered but this triggered a migraine. It took me by surprise. Went on forever too. All the way from 32:00 - 1:06:45 just to help other people out.

there were a million times during this video where I literally held my hands up to my mouth - the chainsaw guy, dolls, puzzles - but I think the wakeup sequence got me the most of all. I LOVE when games mess with the meta like that (undertale, anatomy), even if it does indeed feel like you might be asking for your PC to get bricked lmao. Fantastic video as usual, thank you CJU!

I already have immersive vacations from the comfort of my home where every sensation IS real. It's called a Staycation. Sure, not every adventure awaits, but I can live with that. My ideal vacation is to read books I love, drink tea, and not talk to anyone.

Going to preface the praise by saying that my husband (who is a system admin and comp sci major) would not have entered that command prompt unless his life was on the line. XD THAT would have been THE scariest thing to him above anything else in the game!! XD I can't wait to show this section to him.
To the praise!! I absolutely LOVE that the game seems to have given a loving nod to many other horror game greats without relying on their mechanics like a crutch. Six from Little Nightmares was in there just long enough to bring a smile from those familiar and yet still kept up the tension as she became the spotlight eye that was once a nemesis from her game. The moving statues felt like nods to the Weeping Angels of Doctor Who or SCP-173 (THE Statue) and MMan feels like a nod to SCP-079 or "Old AI which is the homicidal computer that had gained sentience and wants to wipe out mankind but given a virtual world from which to do it.
Or for the older crowd who knows about the most evil supercomputer (because super computers were the progenitors to rogue AIs in these kinds of scenarios) to ever exist, AM from "I have no mouth & I must scream." ...seriously, don't read that if you can't take uber depressing and horrific stories. It is NOT a cakewalk tale.
The Silent Hill inspiration was amazing and having the chainsaw victim turn into a threat was very Resident Evil-esque where a player might never know if the dead could turn deadly later. All of that combined with your ever stellar and witty commentary and genuine delight with the game made this an incredibly fun watch. Thanks for keeping up the great work as ever!

For anyone else struggling, camera 📸/ lights flashing starts at 32:12 & FINALLY goes away 1:06:45!! A full hour of flashing it in your eyes.
Like I said, I'm not even usually sensitive to flashing lights, but something about the way this was done gave me a migraine and it went on for way way too long.

Why has no one played Burnhouse Lane that just came out this February (makers of The Cat Lady, Downfall)?
or Kathy Rain, Whispers of a Machine? or any of the Blackwell games? Everyone keeps playing demos and saying games now are bad but no one has any interest in playing high quality games from well established devs anymore? Burnhouse Lane has a 98% Google rating and a 9/10 on Steam ! like I don't get it is it just me?
I love your gameplays, thanks for this long one! About the game, it resembled me an endless nightmare, where everything is twisted and anything could happen, a mixture of games and fears with some riddles here and there. At times I got bored and only Chris commentaries and attitude made get to the end.

I loved it. Unlike another one i just watched, i didn't mind there not being background music or many sounds.
Honestly this entire set up just makes me remember how that AI shopping experience by Amazon was just a bunch of outsourced workers keeping an eye on people. Lol. "Here's your AI built vacation!" with the various workers being the men behind the curtains.

I loved the game from the get-go and decided to buy it before watching the whole video. Not regretting it whatsoever, and it looks like me and Chris have a very similar thought process when puzzle-solving.

Huh the censored document explaining how to get out also had on the right a mostly covered up document (presumably declassified) explaining procedure relating to US defense during the cold war mentioning something about the Soviets and atmosphere at least, I do wonder how intentional that was considering there was also an in sim newspaper about that neural AI stuff being turn of the century tech.

i liked this and not at the same time, like you said it was too dark and then the whole flashing lights situation for 30 mins or more lol. overall i would rate this game as 6\10 just because of these two things.
I love kind of the emersion is incredible. It was creepy and scary and I felt as disorienting as u did lol. Ur reactions to what is happening are priceless. Lol.

Throughout the game, I couldn't tell if you were the one being played. I was worried every time you found something, it was meant to be found, not to help but to bait you forward. That ending made me freak out that you're a braver man than me for going through with it lol.

The reception reminds me of Prey, and the mannequin mechanics remind me of the AAA FNAF release (the endoskeletons, mask off, look, mask on, dont look). So many game references! If it was more blatant about them, I would call this a terrible horror game, but some how... they are making it work? is this how song artists and singers feel when releasing a new song? Does this stand enough ground to sue or just, let be, because none of all of those developers, can say they came up with the ideas for this game... just inspired.
A pretty good game overall, with an especially terrifying ending when it seemingly took over your computer ! Too bad the game was so dark most of the time (a problem dating back to the demo). Story-wise, it was okay, but the "VR vacation" always felt a little bit off to me, like the dev had some great ideas for the levels and concept of the fucked-up AI, and struggled a bit to find an idea to stitch all of that together. But I'm nitpicking here, as I wrote at the start, this was pretty good !
Realistically, I think the inclusion of things like fire extinguishers and such in a virtual environment would be for the purposes of helping our subconscious accept the scenario. Even if we didn't actively notice the lack of them in a place that otherwise should have them, I think our subconscious would and tell us that something was wrong.
