Is This the END of the Switch?!

- 2023 seems like it’s going to be another good year for the Nintendo Switch. With additional content for Splatoon 3 and Fire Emblem Engage, Pikmin 4, remastered versions of Kirby: Return to Dream Land, Metroid Prime, Octopath Traveler 2, Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games with Nintendo Switch Online and of course The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Switch users are gonna have plenty to do… for the first half of the year at least. There have been some murmurs the past few weeks regarding Nintendo’s future, and most specifically about the successor to the Switch.

My ideal Switch 2 is very simple:
Same form factor and size. Upgrade the screen to 1080p (and make it larger- more edge to edge- without changing the size of the console). Upgrade the docked output to 4K.
Put in a brand new SoC that is like the old one- an NVidia GPU with a powerful ARM CPU. A modern one that is 5-10x more powerful than the Switch wouldn't be hard.
But the most important thing: RTX and Tensor cores, and DLSS 3.0
It should retain direct compatibility with existing Switch games, and be like the GameBoy Color; you can run any existing Switch game in 1080p (since they support 1080p in docked mode already), and use DLSS 3.0 to upscale any game to 4K and the increased power to antialias.
Bam. All existing Switch games now run in 1080p (mobile) and 4K (docked) for free. Games CAN be designed exclusively for the Switch 2, but honestly, most won't need to. They can be designed to run 720p/1080p on the old Switch, and 1080p/4K + raytracing and antialiasing on the new. Most games would be designed to just run on both, using raytracing and higher performance features. Only ports of high performance PS5/XBX games, or games that use Tensor cores for AI features, might be exclusively Switch 2.
Or you can get a PS5 or Xbox because Nintendo will be more for pokemon, splatoon and other kids games

As much as I'd love to see the Switch stay forever, the Switch has been behind in performance since launch. I don't see how it could go much longer
It was hella impressive for a portable device back when it released... Now though, it's essentially lapped by any mid-tier cel phone in terms of power. Definitely time for a refresh.
I think that Nintendo is treated more as a handheld. I think that a new console is due mostly for 2025, making the Switch last 8 years.
That could happen. I can’t see it going on much later than that though
I hope not, I just started!!!!!
If I may ask, why did you start so late into the Switch’s life cycle?
@@GameDomain I wasn’t really a Nintendo gamer. My friends convinced me to try out breath of the wild last month. So I dusted off my switch (which I bought once for smash bros) and just started playing Zelda. It’s literally unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before!!! Can’t believe I’ve been missing out! My PS5 hasn’t been touched ever since
And from the ashes Switch 2
Mario Bros 3-D but in 3rd person camera angle 🫳🎤 image aiming those fireballs or flying through the air.. I suppose MB3 doesn't need to be remastered for this idea but I really liked that game
3DS lasted 9 years? The 3DS came out in 2011 and the Switch came out in 2017, that's 6 years!
They were still supporting it with new games until 2019
@@GameDomain
True. By that definition the 3DS probably got 1st party games for the longest besides the NES and maybe SNES.
The Switch 2 won't come out until 2025. The Switch probably won't be discontinued until 2027-29 and by then it will probably be at 160+ Million consoles sold, even beating the PS2!
Just give me a mild power increase with more modern architecture, 1080p and a bump in battery life.
But as the Swich can be used as a Console and as a Potable gaming device to play basically anywhere.
I doubt it's going anywhere any time soon and no console only game device will end it early.
At some point they’ll have to make a successor with newer hardware and features.
SwitchPro?
Unless you travel a lot and like to play while doing so not a huge draw from a HW perspective even when taking into account the hybrid functions. Ever since I got my Series S I basically don't touch the Switch, in fact I gifted it to my 12 year old niece. I can play portably on any android device streaming from my S and connecting the controller to the system so there's virtually no lag. I got all the emulators and can play any of the old nintendo classics on it. Switch needs to come out with something compelling from a HW perspective because there are way too many alternatives available from the cloud functions of PS and Xbox to the myriad of handheld PCs that are being released headlined by the Steam Deck., that are just more impressive and compelling. Of course it's SW is so strong that it can probably live comfortably for another year, but if they rest in their laurals they'll find the player base at some point just grinds to a halt, don't see many people hyped about Switch in 2024 the kids who grew up with it (majority of their player base) will be wanting something new themselves.
@@GameDomain i want to see the next gimmick wii did the wiggle waggle controller, 3ds the 3d , wii u the gamepad , switch the hybrid i want to see what’s next i hope they don’t repeat the take it on the go anymore
This video makes me feel colorblind
It's time to......Switch it up 😂😂😂
You win the comments 😂
Either way I just got my switch and I won’t get the new console until like a year or two after. Perhaps if they offer games for switch
Switch got 1 SHOT it’s called Tears of Kingdom!
I truly believe we do need a new Nintendo console. With the PS5 and Xbox Series X out for two years, Sony and Microsoft will soon abandon the PS4 and Xbox One so they won't be too old for the newer games, and speaking of which, if Nintendo keeps putting AAA games on the Switch while they'll be on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC but not PS4 or Xbox One, Nintendo will surely not do so well.
A Switch 2 that’s power is between a PS4 and PS5 would likely be able to get support
@@GameDomain Massive support
I'm actually thinking about getting a switch oled , should I still do it now?
I would. There’s so many great games and it’s still has at least another year before they announce a new console.
I dont care about any gimmick but please just make it atleast as strong as the series S. Its not ok if the console is so weak most games run below 30 fps and cant even maintain 720p while being below 30 fps.
man I just want to buy an OLED switch to mod it with the hwfly chip but it's so hard and expensive. One would think that after 6 years the console would be easily moddable
Nintendo should just keep going with the switch
At some point they gotta make a new console. 6 years is a long time for a console. Even the year only lasted around 6 years before the Wii U
Was a Great Run 🎮
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Switch around 2030
I would. No major console has lasted 9 years without a successor (unless the company just stopped making consoles), much less 13 years.
Idk I just want backwards compatibility to switch games in it’s physical and digital forms
The Switch has been such a godsend in gaming. All I want is a more powerful switch that can play some of the current games at 720p.
Most games are at least in 720p
I’m ready. Had my switch since day 1
Same. Love my Switch but eventually it’s gotta be time for an upgrade
@@GameDomain I just hope it has modern features such as live streaming party chat and messaging
Idk why so many people only focus on power id nintnedo beinf beyind in power is a big deal why havw you been supporting them you can just buy a ps5 different companies exist for a reason
It doesn’t need to be super powerful but eventually the technology will just be too outdated for any 3rd party dev to support. With more power you can do more with games, it goes beyond just graphics
switch 2 with better joys cons and make the OG joy cons... 30 to 40 bucks a pair and 15 to 20 for one side Off it.
That be the fairest and nicest Gift Nintendo can give to their loyal Gamer Base.
As a Nintendo Kid born in 1992 I tell them this if they be Greedy and slow on delivering.
Roms or take the Ness to GBA emulators away in the near future I Full hardly Hope.
And Wish for them in that Case that They will get Broke and Choke on Their on Shit.
100 billion times worser than the WII U or the virtue boy Keep This in mind As Gaming Companies.
BE GREEDY BECOME NEEDY.
GO WOKE BECOME BROKE.
NEVER GIVE A HORSE TO PUT IT DOWN LATER.
AND FOR NINTENDO IF THEY NEVER WANT THEIR ASSES BURNED BY THEIR OWN FAN BASE.
EVEN IF PEOPLE ARE GAMERS IN SOME ERA,S WE DON,T PLAY AROUND.
OW YEAH JUST POPPED UP STAY HUMBLE AND YOU WONT STUMBLE.
hardware sales are declining facts are facts you do not wait till sales are completely nothing like Nintendo always does, Sony doesn't do that they go next gen when they could sell another 15 to 20 million Playstations so why doesn't Nintendo do that? Switch will not be selling 15 to 20 million until for much longer
I guarantee Nintendo has another console in the works that is most likely close to finalized. They are probably gonna release their 2023 games and then announce a new console in 2024 if I had to guess
I love my switch
I say Nintendo needs to just stick with the switch cause my father says Nintendo needs to stop making more consoles, and stick with what they have. And leave it at that End of story.
That’s just not a realistic, viable or frankly remotely good idea. If you were running Nintendo I would worry for the future of the company, respectfully.
@@GameDomain I say that to my dad cause he says he fed up of people wasting money on another game console, and his friends agree with him about that and also my dad is old school so he is unappreciated of game consoles in the future.
“Wasting money on another game console” is extremely subjective term. I spent $300 on my Switch the day it came out 6 years ago. It was absolutely worth the money I spent and then some. If Nintendo made a new console next year or 2025 that would have been 7 or 8 years in between consoles which is more than enough time. It’s not like they are making a new one every year. You buy a new computer or a new TV eventually once technology advances enough and becomes accessible with price.
@@GameDomain well unlike you that spent $300 I pirate every consoles, and remove the Anti-Piracy chips out of them soooo.
What if they never release a new console. Ever.
That’s just not realistic. The Switch was a massive success but they can’t just keep making games for it forever. They’re gonna need at the very least a technical upgrade that is at least somewhat comparable to modern consoles so they can keep 3rd party support
