  • The best way to get pets from UK to France is the Eurotunnel. In this vlog, we show you how we traveled with our dog Chloe from the UK to France using the Eurotunnel. We include the cost of traveling on the Eurotunnel with a pet, the check-in procedures at Folkestone with a dog, and the requirements for pet travel to Europe. In our opinion, the Eurotunnel is one of the best ways to travel between the UK and France with your pet.
    What is the Eurotunnel?
    The Eurotunnel is a railway that connects Folkestone with Calais beneath the English Channel. You drive your car onto the train carriages and then remain in your car with your dog during the 35 minute journey. The great thing about using the Eurotunnel is that your dog stays with you in the car. We weren’t traveling with our own car, so we booked a ride using BlaBlaCar.
    Eurotunnel website: www.eurotunnel.com/uk/travell...
    What are the procedures and requirements for traveling with a dog on the Eurotunnel?
    1. Book your Eurotunnel ticket online and then add your pet for £22.
    2. When you arrive at the Folkestone Terminal, head to the pet check-in at least one hour before your booked departure. This was easy to find because there were signs guiding us.
    3. At the pet reception, you will scan your dog's microchip and get their paper work checked.
    4. For the paper work from Folkestone to Calais your dog will need a microchip, a pet passport or animal health certificate, and a rabies vaccine.
    5. For travel from Calais to Folkestone, the requirements are the same plus a tapeworm treatment administered 1-5 days before travel is necessary.
    6. While you wait for the Eurotunnel, there are restaurants, duty-free shopping, and a pet exercise area to enjoy.
    7. Before boarding the shuttle, you will have to go through UK customs and French customs.
    8. After customs, you will board the Eurotunnel train. There will be a safety briefing and then you will start the 35 minute journey to France.
    9. Once you depart the Eurotunnel in France, you do not have anymore checkpoints.
    The biggest advantage of the Eurotunnel is it's a stress free way to travel with your pet. Your pet will remain with you in the car. We’ve traveled on ferries before and if your dog has to stay in an onboard kennel, it can be somewhat stressful.
    Let us know if you have questions, we’d be happy to help out as best as we can because we know first hand how stressful it can be to travel with a pet.

      Hi! When we first arrived, we showed all of my dog’s paperwork. Then we got in the car and went through UK and French customs. After that we boarded the the Eurotunnel. When we arrived in France, we didn’t have to show anything. Hope this helps.

      Hi! We actually didn’t go back to the UK, but I did visit a vet in Paris for a health certificate to go to Thailand. The vet is Dr. Journaux Hugues at Clinique Vétérinaire Paris17. He should be able to help you with the tapeworm treatment. I just emailed him to set up the appointment. Communication was great and he helped me with everything. Hope this helps. 😀

      Hi. I didn’t go back to the uk, so I’m not sure about what vet to recommend in Calais. I used a vet in Paris. Here is the vet clinic information in case you need it. Clinique Vétérinaire Paris17 - 101 Rue de Prony, 75017 Paris, France

    With the rabies vaccine, how much did it cost you?
    How long after the vaccine were you able to travel?
    Did you need a test to check the vaccine was successful?

    • @OneWayTicketAliHolly
      @OneWayTicketAliHolly  Před rokem +1

      I think the rabies vaccine was about $12. When Chloe got the rabies vaccine she got other ones as well and the total vet bill was $72. This was done in Romania. I believe you have to wait 21 days to travel after the vaccine. When we got to Paris, I took her to a vet there to do a rabies titer test in order to bring Chloe back to the EU because we took her to Thailand.

    • @OneWayTicketAliHolly
      @OneWayTicketAliHolly  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi. I’m pretty sure that any EU vet can administer the rabies vaccine and record it in your dog’s pet passport, so I don’t think it has to be done in the country where the passport was issued. I recommend contacting a vet in the country you plan to visit to find out for sure.

    • @OneWayTicketAliHolly
      @OneWayTicketAliHolly  Před rokem

      I’m pretty sure for the Eurotunnel you have to have a vehicle. There are ferries though where it is possible to travel as a foot passenger. I used Stena Line to get from the Hook of Holland to Harwich. Hope this helps.
