Too be fair the test footage made him look really bad. The wig was a weird colour and didn't blend into his head and he was too clean looking. They definitely fixed it up in the show.

Despite everything, the laid back production values, some ooc moments for some characters, what shined through all of that was Henry, he brings a gravitas to the role, he plays Geralt like it is meant to, the voice, the dialogue, the expressions everything on point.
Be it the game or when i reread the books, it's only him that i can picture as Geralt.
He has made this role his own, and now to let him go and to say farewell to a show that i personally liked very much will be very tough.
People saying they didn't follow the books, i don't get them that much, it follows the books mostly, and the liberties that were taken aren't too far fetched. The show was doing a very good job at the adaptation.
I haven't read all the books or played the games, so I can't speak to how loyal the adaptations have been, but I will say this: I LOVED season 1. It kept me binge watching the whole thing holding my breath. The dialogue, the picture quality, the storyline, everything was amazing. Season 2 on the other hand was missing something. This show is called 'The Witcher' as are the books, as are the games. So the main character should be the most prominent, with everyone else helping to build the idea of the world and interact with Geralt. Season 2 felt like we took away a lot of screen time from Geralt to focus on things that, in my opinion, didn't deserve that much screen time at all. I hope we go back to the quality of S1 with Season 3 coming out.

It took watching the first episode in Season 2 in small parts before I finally got through it. Now, after watching the 2nd episode of Season 2, I'm completely into this show again. It's sad Henry Cavill will leave this role because he is so authentic and the face I've grown familiar with for Geralt. Once he is out, I believe Season 3, I will be out as well. I hate when shows change actors. It's never the same, and after his portrayal of Geralt... well. There will never be another Geralt for me. Without Henry, there will be no Witcher. Henry is Geralt. Outstanding performance! 👏👏👏
