I know Jordy is the fucking man and I would never ever doubt his knowledge or advice! I also know from watching him for so long that he is also a personal shrink for all the rider he works with! My question is, when Jordy is talking to riders about a set up, when he is pushing down on the handle bars or the seat is that bullshit or can he really tell anything with that? Can you feel one click by doing that? Really? Lol’
Again I know he’s the fucking man and I wish he was working on my suspension but I’d love to know how much of what he does is the mental game with the riders. Love to hear him talk about it.
I think they only have a few riders, and the guy is a suspension expert. Working within already tight ranges so a little adjustment here and there is just the standard process of deduction working with the feedback from the riders. What is a bit different is the cold temperatures, probably colder than the worst day at Ft. William. I had one of the best suspension mechanics work on my Fox 40s a while ago and he rebuilt a set of used shocks I bought from another mechanic to near perfection. I had the Fox 40s on a Stealth Electric Bomber(with Suntour sequential gearing which allowed me to pedal at a high gear going super fast) and rode on average 234 km a day and hit every single pot hole at 90 km/hour in the dead of winter and all 4 seasons. My mechanic was able to dial in the shocks in every condition I encountered. He was also fascinated by the amount of abuse I put the Fox 40s through and used that data to work on other riders’ high end suspension set ups. These guys are pretty much engineers and nerd out on everything suspension entails.

I understand the way suspension set up has an effect on vertical forces (compressions or hard and soft terrain) but how does it come into play with side load or torsional loading you get in this kind of wet and root filled terrain. How your rear tire looses grip and then grabs grip again. Great episode as always! Thanks!!
