That kid has already heard all of that language, has the internet to see how shitty people are being lately and probably knows what a mushroom trip is. At first I was like really? But then I realized Matt was treating him like a peer and I respect that.
Matt Pike is an incredible guitar player and High On Fire is an incredible band. I'm glad you got to interview him Elliot.

Cracks me up how all the artists start laughing a bit when Elliott comes out as this massive ball of energy. And it’s really nice to see how the artists genuinely enjoy this interview more than any others.
i'm sure he's more subdued when they first meet and set up the interview, then he turns it on for the camera so it catches people off guard. Nardwuar is the same from what's ive heard. Henry Rollins called him out on it during the "soup can" interview

Not as close as carissa but he was real good friends with my dad before he died, Matt also played on kalas with my uncle, such a great guy super humble he’d always give credit to my dad and say he was always the better guitar player lol.. the one thing I remember most as a kid was when my dad would say that Matt always tried getting at my mom but that my dad beat him to it because his teeth weren’t as messed up at Matt’s lolol..

Ran into him outside of Neumos in Seattle. He seemed in a hurry but still stopped to say hi and shake my hand. He then told me his foot was bleeding and he was going to get it looked at... Still amazed he still stopped even with a shoe full of blood 🤘

The guy that got me into High On Fire Doesnt like em as much anymore because he thinks they've gone "metal". He is wired into "what's going on" still relevant to what's happening in rock. I'm just an uncool old guy who takes everything for what it is. The friend hooked me up with the COMMUNION album and I have enjoyed the journey with Matt and co. Since. I love it, they keep kicking my ass with every release, but to me "METAL" is not a dirty word, I have no shame in declaring that I love metal. Keep it up.

I'd love to go back in time with Matt prior to the Younger Dryas Asteroid impacts and huge sea level rise. There was a lot going on back then we are just learning about, once you ignore main stream scientists who most tow the line. For one, DNA advancements have decimated the Out of Africa Darwinist theory. There were distinct groups of species that hybridized with each other. Just like the best Cannabis are all hybridized.
