Welcome to the NitroGang's HPI Savage XL K5.9. This savage has the largest nitro motor ever to be put into any savage from the factory. There are also 15CC gas models, but this one is faster. This is nearly 10 years old at this point and could become a future collectible. Mine is fully stock and Im very proud of it. I meet a cool guy who also can appreciate some Nitro RC and have a conversation with him in very basic terms. Then I run it, then I have a malfunction, you know, the typical nitroGang lifestyle right here. ahahah. It's worth it. Alot more bashing and driving coming soon.

I started building an O'Donnell Z01B kit I had in storage since 2009, my 16 year old son got motivated and I bought a Losi 8ight 2.0 used as well. Now we are having a blast. My dad bought one of these way back when they were released 2008-2009 I think. It had been sitting around for years in our garage and We took it out the other day to try and get it started. I was amazed that it only took around 5 minutes to get it going and driving, and get this the gearbox still works. I am now planning on fully restoring it as it does need a couple of things done but it is a very cool truck.

Hey Marion! Happy Saturday to you and your RC family! It's always something with the old nitros, lol, as you know. It's pretty tough having a candid style convo with a random fan, I noticed I kept cutting him off, lol. But that's only because I wanted to get all the RC facts on the truck in the video, you know. I'm sure that guy had some great stories, maybe I'll bump into him again, he must be a local neighbor of mine.
This gen would've noticed the camera and made the interaction short so the guy can do his vid. Older gen is oblibious to tech and just so innocent, they just keep going, and you have to go with them out of respect. So positive, direct and innocent like my mother... she does the same thing sometimes, so annoying but in the cutest possible way.

hey my 100:1 and 50:1 Brap brother!! Yes, the problem with these older trucks that have more than 1 gear is they need the clutch mechanism rebuilt, and usually don't shift. But I will try again soon.
I have to be honest, I don't like it when spectators come to close to my RC rigs, especially pointing towards them with the foot. But the guy was relaxed (touchy, but relaxed)
hey bro! I usually don't like it either, but this guy was genuinely interested so I figured I would include the Candid style conversation, man it was hard to not get more detailed about it, lol. Anyway, when I was a young kid this older dude tried to steal my RC, it was an HPI nitro RTR 3 at the time. He picked it up, looked at it, and just ran. What he didn't know is I was a fast runner and a black belt in karate at the time, needless to say he was crying after I caught up to him.

I have the same truck but mine has the purple head and the purple shocks and purple springs and I have similar rims and bigger tires. I think it’s really cool that you are out sporting yours. I wish I could hang out with you and rip up some grass lol

Hey buddy. Whats up, thanks for watching. To be honest with you these stock pipes are great, i doubt using a diff one would o anything. The xl alreadys has a dual chamber tuned pipe and yes its very loud, but its also a huge .36 motor, you know. Watch my newer vids on it, i hit 46 mph stock with it. This week i am going for 50 mph. And then 55 after that.

Hybrid what plug should I use in the 90s and humid just bought night Mint one yesterday on eBay hasn't driven it in 2 years but has great 100% feedback and told me it's not locked up and can spin it with his finger also has great compression. Said ran perfectly and shifted right when put up. I hope I didn't mess up anyway wondering about the part. If I need parts on the xl's 5.6 3 speeds do any of the transmissions inner change? Thanks to anyone that helps me.

Always remember seeing nitro cars on CZcams then asking for one for Christmas split with my bro. We got a cheaper chinese one what a mistake could never get it running right always a pain. Then we moved onto the savage flux 2350 and it was so much better
I’ve question i have a hpi savage x4.6 with three speed trans and no more4.6 now has losi 454 motor this swap has been done for year maybe two and I’m now ripping up the rear differential fronts still holding these are the stock differential first rear went a week ago the bearings on the side were pretty much gone so I rebuilt it seemed good for 3/4 of a tank and then the grinding started AGAIN SECOND REAR DIFF IN hours compared to the first original you’re diff any help to what I’m missing or didn’t do right
Need a dewalt drill for a rotor start. As long as the wand fits the drill. I use one and have extra batteries.
hey bro! Yes, you're on the right track. Even the really good 7.2V NIMD packs struggle with this huge engine, as you can tell. That was a 5000 MAHH pack in the rotor start too. Anyway, I could make a lipo work, but I'd need tamiya connectors.
The biggest Engine is in the Thunder Tiger EK-4 !

Hey, cool video and cool dude. I don't want to sound annoying or anything, but do you think you can unbox and set up your 49cc scooter soon? I used to be a part of the NitroGang when played with and worked on gas and nitro rc cars, but I haven't in a fairly long time now because it was getting expensive with all of the repairs. Now I mostly work on and ride scooters and pocket bikes that are under 50cc in displacement and sometimes they have very similar engines compared to 1/5 scale gas rc cars. The pocket bike I used to have had the same engine in it as the primal raminator.
Right now, I am actually fixing my old 49cc scooter for my friend that I used to ride because he got his similar 49cc scooter stolen recently, which really sucks. My old scooter, aside from the paint maybe (mine's red), is exactly the same as yours. I bought it from the same website: scooterwholesales.com. It's a bit experiential because I am trying some mild porting techniques on the engine and I am going to test out a $30 ebay hydraulic brake that should fit on it to see if it's any good. If it's good, I'll put one on my new pocket bike that's coming and I'll let you know in the future if you want to install one on your scooter. Based off of other videos where people put those hydro brake kits on their 212cc mini bikes', I think it will be pretty good. hi dude! I know I got really delayed with the 49CC scooter purchase. I literally just have way too many Nitro projects going on right now, that's why I have not built the scooter yet. And yes, the primal MT truck has a 49CC pocket bike engine, it's not a high RPM motor, but it's got alot of low-end pull and runs good enough for me. I don't ask for 100% performance, you know. I just want it to be reliable and easy to run, which it is.

@@hybrid32494 The 49cc pocket bike engines are pretty cheap, but I think they're neat because they already have a reed valve. And having something that's reliable is always nice too. Yeah, I have had a lot of problems with the particular cheap, mechanical disk brakes on that particular scooter. Maybe I'm just bad at adjusting them, I'm not sure. i also change mine brake system. i guess it is a weak point. you should take adjustments serious on gas and brake. i have 20 kg servo there and need precise setting
Great work on HPI nitro, I own 2x Savage XL 5.9 Trophy with 4.0 RS4 etc. Question for you what to do with the rubber rings on the needles in the carb of these cars, they tend to dry out en loose function but not available for replacement. Maybe a nice item to make a video on??

For the people who complain about the k5.9 you are truly noobs. Mine rips! Love the low.mid.and high carb adjustments......30% nitro 230 to 240 Temps are when it wakes up
Is the three speed better than the 2 speed?
I agree my 5.9 has way more low end than the 4.6
@@independentassesor2630 3 speed is cool no issues other than it has kinda a break in cycle too. Once that's done tune your shifts and good to go. Some of the older model 3 speeds you can't adjust 1-2 shift without taking Trans cover off.(mine) lol

hey buddy! That could be multiple issues. Is the Idle high when you start it? If it's high then try lowering the idle by turning the throttle trim on the remote down, and/or also turning the Idle setscrew on your carb counterclockwise. It could also be a bad clutch, but chances are your idle is just too high. Let me know.
Did i hear some 2 strokes in the back round??? Not 1/5 either ditbike or quad? Did you check if this guy was corona virus free? Ahh hes is 60 so odds are he would of taken a dirt nap already so he must be safe lol😆 rich is good! You know your motor is lubricated and safe from melting the piston! 👍
yep man, there were some quad riders when I was filming this. Pretty interesting they did not get arrested and their quads confiscated, because they are illegal and usually the cops enforce those policies. But I guess they are not harassing the locals now due to the whole virus issue. I actually feel safe driving around now, much fewer cops pulling people over.

hey bro! thanks for watching. This is a stock HPI K5.9 motor, it's a .36 displacement block. They are fairly common and are rated at 3.75 HP and a really high 39K max RPM.

hey bro! If the deal is good, buy them all. As long as they are complete and not missing anything too expensive and are in normal shape, you cannot go wrong. You can still get parts on eBay, no problem for these. It would be good if they were in running shape, then I'd say go for it!.

hey bro, So far I have not fixed the Jato's brakes, it seems it's just poorly made and the only solution is to upgrade to a HR racing metal set for like 45 bucks, or stick a T-maxx Brake cam in there, which is a taller piece of metal and will allow more clearance for the brake arm itself. You are totally wrong my friend this is not the biggest engine installed on a Nitro RC truck. Search for the Thunder Tiger EK4 S2, that beast have a Thunder tiger Pro 70 engine (Heli engine) how i know have two of those things man there are super powerfull. Look on ebay there are availabe use.
hey dude. I think you interpreted what I said incorrectly in this video. I might have mumbled it, but I meant, this is the largest Nitro motor ever installed from the factory into a savage nitro truck. That's why I include the clip about the EK4, that is bigger, yes. BTW, I also have an associated MGT 8.0 which has the second largest nitro motor ever in a RTR truck from the factory other than the EK4.
