    Keyan, I really admire what you have built for yourself man, as a “bedroom musician” myself, im trynna replicate what you have done, build an audience, build a real band, collab, tour, etc. I really think you are making a big impact in the guitar community, and I really appreciate that man. Props to you, take care homie 🤝🏻💪🏻

    A great trick for crowd mics is a ducker set to the overheads, so when the song ends they turn up a bit

    This is cool but the only thing I’d say is I don’t recommend having some channels at +10 on your IEM mixes because you run the risk of clipping your monitor bus (especially since you have your bus faders set to unity). I’d probably have your most important channels set to unity and then have everything else set below that. It’s not a huge deal but it’s something I’ve noticed over the years as I’ve improved my IEM mixing

    • @KeyanHoushmandLive
      @KeyanHoushmandLive  Před měsícem +1

      Thank you for the tip dude! I might increase the limiter threshold on our IEM transmitters and run the actual levels a little quieter on the M32C

    • @davidthomas9960
      @davidthomas9960 Před měsícem +1

      @@KeyanHoushmandLive like I said it’s not a huge deal and as long as you don’t see the clip light coming on on your IEM transmitter then I probably wouldn’t sweat it but that’s the only thing I noticed.

    Is it possible you can go through a budget and a mid range bedroom setup? Like what kind of laptop, programs/daw, monitors, audio interface?

    • @voltaic849
      @voltaic849 Před měsícem +1

      i gotchu (increasing order of price in the budget range you mentioned)
      laptop : acer aspire 3 (the one with the i3) < acer aspire 5
      daw : cakewalk/luna < reaper (you can get it for like 60$ or sm if youre a small business)
      interface : m audio m track solo < focusrite scarlet solo 3rd gen < UA volt
      i dont know much about monitors so cant say much about it, but for headphones p much anything above like 20-40$ will work wonders

      get a refurbished i5 8th gen notebook, a Behringer U-Phoria UMC204HD and Superlux HD681 Evo headphones. That's a 300 USD recording setup.

    Very cool! How do the triggers work live from a hardware side of things considering it's not leveraging a DAW for something like Steven Slates Trigger 2?

    • @KeyanHoushmandLive
      @KeyanHoushmandLive  Před měsícem +1

      The triggers are only there to be used as sidechain inputs for gates, we aren’t using any samples

    • @ShreddingDragon
      @ShreddingDragon Před měsícem

      @@KeyanHoushmandLive Did I understand correctly that you’re using actual physical drum triggers on the shells for gate triggering?

    • @KeyanHoushmandLive
      @KeyanHoushmandLive  Před měsícem +1

      @@ShreddingDragon yes, the inputs of the triggers are sidechained to the actual drum mic gates

    What kind of outboard routing is going on so everything is sent where it needs to go?

    • @KeyanHoushmandLive
      @KeyanHoushmandLive  Před měsícem +1

      Every input we have whether it be live instruments or tracks are run into our own passive split. We use a PlayAudio 1U as an interface for our live playback, which has 12 outputs

  • @ayeapprove

    12:16 you actually like the default click sounds in reaper? I always change them to a bell like thing for the first beat because the typical click in reaper gets burried so much easier in a mix

    i always had this question and cant seem to find it so keyan or anyone here could help
    i play with two other guitars on a modeler all my guitars changes automitazide by cubase the question i have is if i play rythym and my dad plays the ambient and the other guitar rythym should i pan my guitar to the right like a recording and ambients on stereo? i am currently panning my guitar lefts 65% cause if i hard pan people on right cannot hear me but i dont know if this is the legit way cause theres not alot of information talking about panning front of house so for example my first song i do rythym my dad and other guitarrist two but my dad mostly ambients i pan my dad to center, other guitar right65% and i go left65% but im scared that when i use this setup the panning sounds weird cause im basing on my monitors not front of house should i keep panning this way ???? or go everything on mono and only panning the solo parts?

    • @ayeapprove
      @ayeapprove Před měsícem

      I'd go mono and do panning during solo. Or you play panned to a second prerecorded guitar track if you're running automation and click already.
