😄 Welcome to the first episode of "Let's Chat", where we discuss various topics, mostly related to former Jehovah's Witnesses and leaving high-control religious groups and cults.
In this episode we meet Brenda Peterson. She woke up from the JW religion/cult 10 years ago and has recently finished writing a book about her experiences-- you can find her book "Letting Go" here: brendapetersonwriter.com/
🐣 Join us as we chat about the Memorial and Easter, (past and present), in which we talk about memorable moments of the Memorial as a JW; the Anointed; what this time of year is like now that we aren't Jehovah's Witnesses; and more!
And don't forget to Like 👍 and Subscribe as it helps to keep videos coming!

What a lovely new friend you have in Brenda, that's' really great. Just because you leave it all doesn't mean you have to be angry or bitter etc

I thought I detected Canadian accents!! I am a Saskatchewan girl ... transplanted in Tennessee for the last 27 years..love it here but always enjoy returning to my Prairie roots.... we love to squeeze a bit of Alberta in on each visit.. I have family in Calgary and we love to hike in Waterton Lakes... if you have never ferried out and hiked Crypt Lake I highly recommend it!! ANYWAYS... love the Canadian connection.. My Maineiac husband (he's from Maine) and I became baptized JWs in 1995 here in the Bible/Baptist belt..go figure?? Anyways we were in for 20 yrs.. we were pioneers..he was an elder... throughout our 2 yr study program starting in 1993 and the years up until we left there were several red flags for me..I questioned many things and when I talked to my husband somehow he would ease my concerns... anyways we left together..thankfully in 2015 .. after some upsetting things that happened I began to check out some info on internet.. I came across JWStruggle and they had a downloaded version of Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz..I devoured that 700 some odd pages in 3 weeks..then I went on to In Search of Christian Freedom...and then a host of many other books and channels... it has been the most traumatic time of my life... we still have family in ..he has 2 sisters and their families that were in way before us and I converted one of my sisters😪😪😒... anyways his family is shunning us..they don't even know the whole story..we simply told them we had doubts ..we had many but only told them of one..The UN issue.. they tried to explain it away but I contacted the UN myself after trying to get info from US branch office.. the guy at the branch just totally evaded the truth...it was eye opening and suspicious to me..that's when I contacted UN and found out truth... it hurts so much when people lie to protect their image and they keep the rank and file in darkness... definitely a cult.. but no way to help others out..they need to make the first step.. and so we pray.. we are no longer affiliated with any religion..we have a small group we study Bible with and we love it.. anyways we have quite a story... perhaps we shall chat sometime.. love

Hi Lora, thanks for sharing. I'd be curious to hear more about the UN issue and contacting the UN. Sorry about your family, it's not easy, but I'm glad to hear your hubby left with you-- it's so much harder when you don't have that support.
And funny you heard our Canadian accent.. ("wait a minute, I don't have an accent, you do" lol).
Interested to hear more and perhaps a chat... livingtruthmatters@gmail.com

I’m from Calgary, Ab, currently living in Fort. St John, BC. This is the first time I’ve seen your channel as soon as you said Alberta I knew I had to subscribe. This is a great video. I’m an ex jw that was never baptized, so not disfellowshipped but treated like I am. I’d love to connect with you. :)

To speak is to free oneself. The more we are silent, the more it becomes bad for our mind. The cult of the Watchtower has stifled free oral expression for so long that today with the Internet the Watchtower can no longer channel the incessant flow of testimony. Thanks for your video. The end of the Watchtower is before us.

Well done ladies I was out 25 years before I took the courage to look at apostate stuff and wow . It was my dad's funeral. Everybody was telling me how things have changed and things are different real weird stuff

Reach out to "worldly" people when you leave. People are amazing! They won't judge like the JWs who shun.

So true! I dropped the labels “worldly” “apostate”, etc., and now just enjoy good people that are unconditional and non judgmental. That is good living!

Great video girls, always good to get the ladies perspective on all things Watchtower cult, must admit I did hook up to the Zoom Memorial this year, but I was not impressed with it at all, I did have my mike and camera switched off, butI think I am probably old school, doubt I will ever engage in a zoom meeting again, very flat and business like, didn't enjoy it one bit, these are crazy wierd times for sure, added to an already wierd cult, man am I glad I am out of this watchtower matrix.
My only claim to Canada, is an old friend who passed away some years back, who returned to Wales UK for health reasons, he was from Calgary, after his passing his wife went back to Canada.

My Jehovah’s Witness nan gave permission for another relative to steal all of my belongings as punishment to go with the shunning for having the audacity to expose the abuse within my family, including my aunt who was found to be abusing her own son yet is still a Witness to this very day 😢
There’s a few videos detailing the abuse on my channel..
