  • In this video we are propagating one of our orange Geums. Geums are wonderful hardy perennials which flower over a long period with regular deadheading.
We grow it with the lovely Geranium ibericum which is a blue/violet colour and flowers at the same time as the first flush of the Geum flowers.

Love Geum’s, have about 40 in my garden, my mother sowed from seed Mrs Bradshaw a year before he died, I have always had some in my garden since, love them.

That's so lovey to always have that plant to remind you of your mum. We love then too and we keep adding to our collection when we see another one that takes our fancy 😀

What a coincidence 😀 I've seen Mai Tai, but not the others. Happy planting when they arrive. Have a great Easter too 😊

I love Geums and have Totally Tangerine plus a red and yellow one. They never disappoint. I'm glad that you did this video as I think I need to split mine.

They are great plants and I wish we had space in the borders for more! We grew Mrs Bradshaw (a red one) and Lady Stratheden (a yellow) in Sheffield and they were lovely, but Totally Tangerine is my favourite. Hope you are having a good bank holiday so far and you get some gardening in xx

A perfect demonstration, thank you. Clear instruction. Will look to divide my Totally Tangerine next year. Not been lucky enough to get it to repeat flower as yet (had it 3 years) despite deadheading. Although I haven't given it a good feed after deadheading as you suggest, so that's my next plan. Thanks again.

Thanks so much! Try giving yours a feed after the flowering has finished as that's what we do and it usually does the trick. The colour on this variety is so stunning! Thanks for watching 😀

Last year I bought Mai Tai and a yellow one that didn't really flower (maybe too late in the season when I got them). I was wondering about dividing the mai tai because it really is nice and wouldn't mind having more :)

That's a lovely Geum with lovey colours. We've never grown that one but have seen it in other people's gardens. Now is a good time to divide if you want more plants 😀

Great video - but you don’t say when to divide

It's best to divide in early spring or autumn 👍

@@MadAboutGardening before blooming in spring or right after? Thanks!!

@@melissaneufell8081 Early in spring before flowering as they can repeat flower in the summer. They can also be divided in the autumn.
