Yes exactly. The sound in that time would be indegustible for our todays ears. The quality of the strings was much worse and contrary to the popular purist opinion, they mostly played with a lot of vibrato!

Vivaldi's works are so beautiful to hear and enjoy, but so challenging to play. I'm still struggling to play Spring Allegro from the Four Seasons.
