Oh, this video is a capsule of the Adventure Denali esthetic, not to sound too gushing... Calm thoughts in measured cadence, in such a friendly voice that seems to transmit a sense of fun and yet be utterly serious at the same time, how??
And the visuals, objects, framing, lighting.
And the performance art which is your handwriting... Which honestly matches and justifies that lovely pen.
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! That is such a compliment! Glad you appreciated it all. Thank you for watching.
Your handwriting is gorgeous! I just recently got my first TSWBI and loving it! Such a consistent writer and it feels so much sturdier than a Lamy Safari.
Thank you! Yeah I feel similarly!
They feel sturdier, but they aren't. Lamy Safaris are made of the same plastic as Legos. :) Anything made of plastic will break, but I've never had a Safari break on me. I have one that's...jeez, 25 years old. Still going strong. TWSBIs have known cracking issues, unfortunately. I hope you don't experience it. I had a Diamond 580 that cracked repeatedly. It was soooo disappointing. I ended up giving it away for parts to someone in my pen club.
@@arguchik Oh that's fascinating! Thanks for sharing! I guess because the TWSBI feels weightier, I associated that with feeling studier. But it makes perfect sense why that isn't necessarily the case.
@@MaikeOatley Yep, the weight of a fountain pen doesn't equate to quality or sturdiness, necessarily.
@@arguchik my twisbi broke on me tooo :(
I applaud. Of the couple thousands dollars of pens that I've kept to husband over the years, the TWSBI Mini are my favorite, everything about them, aside from their fragility, but then, they're only 50 bucks or so if they break. But if they do, the company makes you whole. Every time. I love my Pelikan 805 modified to stub by John Mottishaw. But the 1.1 TWSBI steel stub, and the pen, are equal. Your presientation is beautifully shot, spoken, penned and written.
Thank you for doing t his review Alicia. I been wanting this pen for a very long time but unable to follow up with getting one right now until I get back on my feet. Beautiful pen and lovely review. Thank you for showing it up close and personal. Happy Holidays X
I feel the same! And your voice is soo soothing 😄
I soo agree with you. Twsbi, one of my favourite throw in the handbag fountain pens. Here in London, Lamy is cheaper and more readily available. So they have been my first choice till I moved to AZ, USA. There I discovered TWSBI from Goulet pens and omg. Even their customer service was omg, amazing. And I think I got 5 of them in those 2 years. Loveeeee them. Thanks for your beautiful videos. Your videos got me back into journaling. Your handwriting 😍
You inspired me to get into fountain pens, and I got recommended for a TWSBI.. Probably the best purchase I have ever made. It just gets me so excited to write, I love seeing the ink flow and go down every dozen pages, I simply adore the way it writes and the amount of ink it carries. I'm thinking about naming it, but I haven't found the right name yet. I'm so grateful for your channel! I hope you're well and I can't wait for your next video
That is all so wonderful to hear!! I’m glad the TWSBI is inspiring you to write. Naming it would be so sweet! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. ❤️
This pen is the favorite by far, in all my collection. Granted, I don't have what I call expensive pens - anything over $150 I would consider expensive. I have several TWSBIs but the minis are my favorite. They are everything you say and more. They always write, right out of the gate. The built in converter protects the ink from drying out. Many of my pens will be empty because the ink dried out before I could get back to it. The ECO model is just as good as the more higher priced models. The nibs are the same. I too have the same dream to have every single one they've made and all inked up! Just one thought about what you said about the aesthetic made me think that it would be like saying you only read pretty books - no matter how crappy the story is - LOL!!
I love this video. Agree with your sentiment re a massive library of TWSBI pens with a range of inks. Given you can buy so many more TWSBIs for the price for some premium offerings, it’s achievable. I actually like the aesthetics and whenever I use them in the office, people say “that’s a cool pen.” It’s especially nice because they allow the ink to show off its beauty.
I totally agree! I was initially hesitant because of the cracking issue. But they’re so easy to maintain, and such beautiful writers that they’ve completely won me over. I haven’t tried the mini yet, but find the Eco & Diamond 580 very comfortable and pleasing.
TWSBIs are solid and such a pleasure to write with. Thank you for sharing your pen thoughts! ❤
You’re welcome!
I use TWSBIs for shimmering and sheening ink. I love the way I can appreciate the hue and shimmer of the ink through the clear acrylic. I’ve had nearly a dozen TWSBIs over a 4 year period and not one of them clogged, dried up, or hard-started. I also keep giving my TWSBIs away to penable friends and family to the fountain pen world :)
Oh that must look so nice to see the inks sloshing around in the barrel all sparkley! Amazing performance too! Well done TWSBI
I'm writing up work notes with mine as we speak! Such a great pen! I love that I can ink up my TWSBIs, not pick them up for weeks or even months and when I go back to them, they just start back up. Every time. 😊
Absolutely! They’re so great like that. A loyal friend that’s always around.
So funny...I literally got the full size of this pen yesterday and was going to return it. Didn't love the rose gold. After watching your video I email Goulet Pens to say I'm keeping it after all! I agree it's a great pen. Have it in another color! Writes beautifully. Happy Holidays!
Always a great video. I have that TWSBI. I do not need to search any further for a pen to suit my needs. This one is perfection. The writing experience is why we are in love with pens. This fills all those requirements.
That is so amazing! What a great feeling that must be, to be so content! I’m glad you found a pen that suits all your needs
I bought the same white/rose gold trim in the Diamond 580 model after watching your video… I adore your handwriting 🥰. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm touched!!!! You mentioned my Homeland in your writing sample!!!! I had no idea you screw the cap to post. I was under the impression one couldn't post piston fillers.
Aww! Hello!
Yeah a lot of piston fillers can be posted!
One of my favourite pens is my eco in blossom red in fine! I got it right as they sold out (I think I bought the last UK stock lol). I love the ecos because they write so well (in my collection of 21 pens I have 6 ecos!). The ecos are just such a good price and I'm comfortable taking them with me because they're fairly replaceable. My diamond 580 is also pretty great and it's grown on me. The white RG mini is definitely on my wishlist but it's a bit pricier than I like to spend on TWSBIS. I loved this video and I loved the ink; the colours work really well together!
I have two TWSBI ecos and I love them but agree with your points about the aesthetic. Even so - such a pleasure to write with!
They surely are!
You have the most incredibly beautiful handwriting I've ever seen.
I have never seen you comment on TWSBI’s. I now feel reassured in my attraction to these pens because I do value your opinion. The quality for the price is excellent and I have never had a leaker or a writing failure! My favorite is the Diamond 580, feels best to me. But I do love playing with the vac filling system on the 700. Thanks for your video.
You’re welcome! They are truly marvelous pens. Enjoy and happy writing!
Finally the long awaited pen thoughts on TWSBI Alicia!!!🤩
I bought the exact same demo clear ECO because I was so inspired by your TN video years back!! And I completely agree with you on all points except one 🤣
I love the aesthetic looks of the ECOs. And it tells a lot that it's the only pen that has a "duplicate" in my curated 12 pen collection.
Haha hurray! Better late than never I hope!
It’s so great you love the look of the Ecos! I wish I did more, but maybe actually it’s for the best… I’d probably have to collect one in every color… Speaking of such things, can you imagine?? A collection of every Eco color release? That’d be amazing. I wonder if there’s one out there.
@@adventuredenali Yes, definitely for the die hard Eco fans! Just like Sailor, with all its colours in glory...
I agree. I think the ECO is a beautiful pen. I think the 580ALR is even more beautiful, and the nib is much easier to change. In my hand they all seem very thin, so that isn't a factor, either.
Great camera work. Especially that opening writing scene. My Twsbi always write even after leaving it sit for weeks. Great pen GOSH DARN IT!
Thank you so much! Hahah! Gosh darn it!
Your video is so zen!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you and you’re so welcome!
What a meditative, and heartfelt, video.
Thank you!
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to actually buy a Twisbi, it should arrive on Tuesday, a Vac 700R with fine nib. I bought it from a local buy and sell here in Austria, used just once so basically new for €40 complete with box and accessories.
This is the first pen I have bought in years, my small collection is vintage so it will be interesting not only writing with a new pen but this will also be the first time in nearly forty years since I have written with a steel nib, the last time being a Parker that I wrote with from from junior school right through senior school and college!
After reading much about them and your continuing enthusiasm for them I can’t wait to write with it! Thanks for your many thoughts on them.
very beautiful videography and use of natural light
Thank you! The lighting was so marvelous, it really inspired the video.
amazing, i have the opposite opinion, i love the twsbi aesthetic :)
your handwriting is amazing i'm so jealous
I love the TWISBI Mini Rose Gold! It's my favorite pen. I especially love the nib; I have an . The Twisbi ECO is too big for me since I don't like to write with my pens unposted.
Agree with you 100%, on all fronts. I recommend them for newbies, but I also do not really like the look of them, but I did recently purchase myself the TWSBI Diamond Iris, it is pretty 😉
LOL you'd like me ... I have 8 TWSBI Ecos inked at the moment for color variety!!!! Now I just want to go ink up my poor neglected Mini!!! ❤✒ I'm also a TWSBI lover and luckily I like the look of them too!!!! I have a 24 pen case just for my TWSBI pens and I made a rule that I couldn't exceed the pen case capacity however, I'm sneaky I guess and since I always have several inked .... the pen case is not technically over capacity...! Thays my story! My Christmas pen this year is the Diamond 580 Iris in B.
Hahaha I love it! I think you’re 24 rule is admirable, and your loop hole brilliant. ;)
Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy your Iris! What TWSBI nib size do you use the most?
You have such gorgeous handwriting.
Thank you!
I love my Twsbis as well. I get where you are coming from!!
PSA for anyone looking for this pen: there are a few pen models that TWSBI does in a Mini size; this model is the *Diamond* Mini, which is the smaller version of the Diamond 580. There’s also a Vac Mini (smaller version of the Vac 700) which gives quite a different writing experience IMO because it’s a much wetter pen than the Diamond/Diamond Mini
Appreciate the info!
I own a lot of TWSBI’s. I own a lot of fountain pens. I’m not bragging, it’s just the nature of the hobby. I have had every model of TWSBI fountain pen, except your favorite, the mini. I have fairly big hands so smaller pens just don’t feel right to me. I generally have at least a couple inked up. They are all exceptional writers. I’ve given away, or traded, quite a few too. It’s always been hard for me to choose a favorite pen, or even brand, but for beginners I always recommend Name brand entry level pens from (in no particular order) TWSBI, Pilot, Sailor, LAMY, and others. It’s hard to beat a GO, ECO, or the Swipe for the money. Especially the Swipe since it gives a few different ways to add the ink. Thanks for your videos. They’re well done. 😊
That elegant, white and rose gold is fetching. I think you have found YOUR best Twsbi at last!
I think so too!
I have a TWSBI Diamond 580ALR fountain pen with a fine nib. It is an very economical pen, and provides a very nice writing experience. I have Pelikan pens and MontBlanc 149 pens, and this TWSBI 580ALR sure gives these pens from the big-boy pen manufacturers a run for their money!!!!! TWSBI pens are now among my favourites.
Yes!! Agreed! I have some way more high priced pens that are lovely, but never as consistent as the Twisbi. I have 3 including the mini-vac (my fav) and they are solid. I don’t notice or mind the bulk but agree they are not the cutest lol
Another day, another tempting pen 🤩I've only tried the eco from TWSBI, might try the vac next!
Hahaha do it, do it! 😂
TWSBI pens are awesome indeed! Really great ink color too. I sometimes enjoy Diamine Terra Cotta too. For some reasons the warm colors of brown and red inks are beautiful in my eyes.
I’m in a warmer brown/red ink kick right now. 👍🏽
Now I want one as well. Oh, hang on, you said you liked giving them away...
Hahahaha! Well done! 😂
TWSBI mini was my first and all my TWSBIs are great. My favorite brand.
😅 whew…so glad to hear about your lovely pen as I have my 1st, the clear EF eco T, arriving Friday w/ Diamine Red Dragon ink 🎉
Exciting!! Hope you enjoy it!
With 4 TWSBIs and a Pilot Custom 823, I haven’t felt a need for another pen since.
That’s so awesome. Both such solid pens.
I have a 823 and 845 on order. I am quite new to fountain pens in terms of the different brands and models (always used a foutain pen in school but they used to be of the cheap variety). How does the 823 compare against the TWSBIs??
@@FABM27 Pilot Custom 823 is smoother and has a gold nib. It writes like butter. It’s a little more complicated filling system and you have to unscrew the top of the pen partway while writing. TWSBI is much less expensive, may not write like butter but impressively smooth and very reliable.
Been writing with my Twsbi diamond today with the 1.1 stub italic……it’s such a beautiful pen to write with
I have this pen in a 1.1 Stub Nib and it's one of my all time favorites!
That’s awesome!
I'll have to get me a mini. I have an eco and love it! I use it more than my other ones by far. Thanks for sharing this.
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoy the mini as much as I have!
Thanks! Enjoyed your video and can appreciate your points -- especially as regards the aesthetics. I purchased a few TSWBIs over the last couple of years, each time looking for that perfect balance of the right size, the right functionality, the right aesthetics -- the 580ALR (Prussian Blue) and 700R Iris come closest -- but in preparing for the New Year and planned pen culling I realized my TWSBIs tend to sit uninked while other pens in my collection give me a thrill of excitement to rotate back into use.
One of the many great things about this hobby is it's such a broad tent! I've concluded TWSBIs aren't for me; I've become (much) more enamored of the FPR pens especially with the ultra flex nib.
You’re so welcome! A very relatable sentiment. Have fun reworking your collection! What’s the FPR pen?
@@adventuredenali Oh, sorry (FPR): Fountain Pen Revolution -- focuses on FP's sourced in India and mostly pretty affordable. The Jaipur Version 2 and ebonite Ranga Madras are two of my current favs -- the latter with an architect nib! Cool!
A great review makes me want to hold it in my hands and write pages of poetry. The only issue is that they're not readily available where I live (India), but I do hope they launch all their models here pretty soon.
I agree with you about this pen. However, I would like to add a couple of perks that are also awesome about the TWSBI Mini. You can buy a different nib size without having to buy a new pen. It’s easy to change by unscrewing the old one and screwing the new one on it. Also there are threads on the back of the pen, so it can be screwed on, when posted.
TWSBI ECOs are my go-to pen. I also do have a soft spot for the Kaweco AL Sport (I find the non-ALs too light for me to write well.) These comprise the bulk of my Fp collection, but I have hoping to be able to afford the rose gold mini TWSBI you have in this video, before they are all sold out 🤞🏻
I'm on the same page as you in terms of the aesthetics. But my VACmini was one of the first fountain pens I acquired and I still use it regularly. (Also, their customer service *immediately* sent me a replacement part when mine had a small crack. No questions, no charge; I just paid for shipping.)
Wow, way to go TWSBI! That’s really great to hear.
Love love love this video ❤❤❤❤
I wouldn’t call the Eco elegant or sophisticated but I do like its aesthetic, especially when all the internal components are rose gold. You’re right. It’s such a great writer. It’s a joy to use.. it almost makes you want to have a reason to write. It’s not a pretentious pen. It’s fun. I’m actually surprised to hear that you don’t like the aesthetic. I think that it’s a strongpoint for a lot of people.
I have the 580 smoked Rose Gold II and I love it
Aww that’s so special!
@@adventuredenali my mom bought it for me before she died so I protect it with all I’ve got and cherish every second I write with it
I love penthoughts!!!
It feels like this pen was designed with you in mind ^^
I really enjoy your pen thoughts!
Hope you're all recovered from covid
Thanks so much! I’d say I’m at about 92-95% now? 😃
I have the white and rose gold inked up exclusivly with diamine oxblood. I use it everyday. I enjoy it everyday.
Oh I bet that’s nice! I have a pen inked up with Oxblood too. Such a great color.
I love this pen and how the cap screws on!
😃
I have a Diamond 580AL R and I think the balance is perfect for writing, without posting. As you say the mini posted has a perfect balance too.
I didn’t understand the TWSBI hype until I broke down and bought one. I too did not care for the look of them, but I was won over.
I have 3 TWSBIs I also want a mini. They are great pens.
I am new to fountain pens after 50 years (I have a pen my mom gave me for HS graduation). I keep saying that my Twsbi Classic Mini EF is my favorite writer. Love your content. I have been binge watching. 🤎🤎
Your handwriting is just mesmerizing. You could make an ASMR video of your handwriting with the mike close to the nib for sound.
I have recently purchased this rose gold twsbi and the ink I used stained the grip section a grayish brown 😅 I use it often as you said, it is indeed a work horse. However, I didn't think the grip section would stain or I might have skipped on the white one.
try to reach out to TWSBI CS and write them an email. They will probably mail you a replacement if its still in warranty. but you will probably be charged for shipping.
I adore my TWSBI mini. I rather like the look of it and it writes like a dream always.
Awesome!
Most beautiful
I did order all of the rose golds during my leave. I have yet to ink them but I was thinking since I have so many TWSBIs, I was thinking about grinding one to see if I love it.
Ooh that’s not a bad idea!
I have several TWSBI'S and I share your appreciation for them.
Marvelous!
Great video! How do I know whether I am holding my TWSBI at the correct angle...? Also, which notebook are you using in the video? Thanks!
I do too!
:D
Have your nib been tuned? If so what type of nib grind is it and where do you have it done? Thanks
You seem to write often in extrafine, did you ever had issues with TWSBI nibs? I love my Eco but it sometimes stops writing suddenly and I don't know what the problem is, I might just have a faulty nib but they don't sell replacements for the rose gold ones.
I heard good feed back for this pen . I have a small hands and fingers. And I get cramps in my hand if I write for a long time. And I noticed the barrel is thick . Worry will get hand / finger fatigue.
What do u suggest ?
Have you found it run out of ink after the nib runs dry? I have to lower the plunger to add more ink to the nib. If you have not, what am I doing wrong? By the way, I love your voice :)
where did you got that ink from???
also , incredible handwriting!
Your voice is so calming, professional video. Thank you 😊
Thanks so much 😊
This is a beautiful pen. The nib seems quite broad. Is that typical of the EF for this brand?
I think in general, the nibs feel a little bit wider? At least that seems to be a reoccurring sentiment with some other folks on here, and something I’ve experienced as well.
Every time I have to deal with the Vanishing Point or Sailor converter, I immediately just want to replace them with a twsbi. So easy to fill and writes really well!
Hahah I feel very similarly!
I want to love twsbi but my eco mint cracked. I'm now considering 580 diamond but right now can't justify spending $80 for it. Specially when I can put that $80 towards a vintage pen. I did though enjoy twsbi's ink capacity, and wet writer.
Hi how do you clean the white part? It gets a bit grimy from the ink sometimes..
twisbi vac mini is so f ing good
Love your handwriting!! Does your hand ever get tight or ache when you write? Mine started to in school taking notes & now I’m not sure how to keep it relaxed while writing… any suggestions are welcome!
Thank you! I have had cramps, but only when I’ve written for hours straight. I recommend taking very frequent breaks when writing to do some hand stretches. Our bodies don’t like when we do the same thing over and over for too long.
Can you tell me if you write with the pen sideways? Idk if it's the angle of the camera but it seems like you turn the pen at an angle when writing. I noticed i do this unconsciously but I don't know if that's ok or should a fountain pen be used like straight with the tip flat on the paper.
Use it however you like, there`s no right or wrong, if it works, it works (:
Some nibs are more forgiving than others though, as in their sweetspot might be smaller than others.
personally I draw, so I hold my pens at all sorts of angles and only a few pens have been "complaining" when using odd angles.
I love your shirt ! May I ask what brand it is, and where you bought it ? Thank you !
Thank you! It’s a Patagonia shirt, from their website directly. :)
This video goes hard. I personally really vibe with the Eco's looks but i get that it's not for everyone.
That’s so great!
Thanks for this video. I share your views about these pens. Maybe they will bring out a more luxe looking model one day 💕
You’re so welcome!
Very curious, what notebook you are writing the samples in?
I just bought a Twsbi ALR in prussian blue - EF. My first Twsbi and i love it. Beautiful pen.
I currently have it inked up with Diamine Aurora Borealis, which matches it perfectly. I love having inks match the pens. That Steeped Umber goes really nice with the rose gold - good choice.
may i ask what is the nib size that you are using in this video for the mini?
Your handwriting is amazing, what nib size you are using ?
Thank you! It’s an extra fine.
I am so jealous of your super hand writing. Why oh why haven't I been learning. So disappointed in myself. 🤦🏻♂Anyway I digress, my first ever fountain pen was the TWSBI 540 until it cracked. I was gutted. That led me into spending stupid money on pens. I dislike the metal TWSBI grips with a passion. My 580 ALR grip is too narrow and slippery its damn annoying. I do think the rose gold versions look incredible though. 😃👍🏻
Aww that’s such a tragedy! I’m sorry that happened.
And thank you for the compliment, haha. May you find yourself writing up a storm!
Um, I have a massive collection of TWSBIs inked up with different inks. My obsession right now is stub nibs with shimmer and sheening inks.
I got the 580 version of this rose gold. I think it looks pretty decent. Good writer. The only complain about it is the nib width. I personally prefer the width of a Sailor MF, but a TWSBI normally is just tiny little bit thinker at a level that starts to annoys me.
Yeah, I get that! That’s why I like the extra fine, but still even that at times isn’t quite right.
This video is so polished and well done, seems like it was made by pro film makers. Tswbi should have her on their payroll. l want that pen now and l’m not sure why, l just want it.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much! I’m really glad you appreciated the video.
I have 6 fountain pens all inked in the different glorious colors I love . . . I want more pens because I want more ink colors. The pens I have are all gold nibs, and I just can't afford any more like them. So I was delighted to see this video highly recommending a more reasonably priced pen. What is TWSBI's nib comparison with a Sailor ? Thanks so much. ~Marilee
I guess I'm lucky where TWSBI pens are concerned. I think they are all beautiful, except for the GO and the Swipe, and even these two have a charm. And my hands are big enough to make the ECO a little bit small. I really like a little wider pen with a little wider grip. I have one pen that makes the ECO look like a pencil. It holds six milliliters of ink.
It's really not a good idea to post the ECO, and a terrible idea to post the 580. You can easily damage the piston knob, or even break it, by posting. Or just burp ink all over the place. But the pen is long enough that it shouldn't need posting. I think the 580ALR is beautiful in every way, but it feels even thinner than the ECO, at least in my hand.
I have all the models in production, and all write very, very well. I really like the Precision.
My daily carry, take anywhere pens are the Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age, a Scribo Feel, and the Kaweco Brass Sport with a gold nib, but I also like to carry a TWSBI because they are great giveaway pens. I've always carried the ECO, but more and more often I take a Swipe. It writes just as well, all TWSBIs write well, and I think the Swipe is a little easier for a true beginner to use.
Totally understand the appeal of TWSBIs, especially the Eco model. Inexpensive, colorful, holds a lot of ink. I have 4 TWSBIs (5 if you count the TWSBI Go, which ... ): 2 Ecos, a Diamond 580 ALR, and a Vac 700R. Yet, with the exception of the Diamond 580, which has a specialty nib grind, I almost never use them! There's something about the way they feel in my hand while writing, that clunkiness of the design, that puts me off. Also, unpopular opinion alert, they hold too much ink! 😆 If I fill one I feel like I'm using it forEVER. 🤣
Hahaha I could see how a greater ink capacity could become a real problem for some! I’ve been told, that’s one of the reason Sailor really pushes their cartridge models - or why they’re so popular - a lot of folks like to change their ink on a regular basis!
I agree about the asthetic thing. The twsbi precision is the outlier in my opinion. A twsbi but with a better looking design.
I think the ECO is beautiful, and the 580 ALR even more so. I have a pretty fair number of expensive pens, but only a very few of them are prettier than a TWSBI. I have a Broze Age that I think is the most beautiful business class pen out there, and I have a couple of Namiki Maki-e and a Namiki Chinkin that are stunningly beautiful, but outside of these, I rarely see a pen I think is prettier than a TWSBI ECO or 580 ALR. But you're right about the Precision. It is a very pretty pen, but seems to get overlooked.
Outside of TWSBI, I'm not a fan of steel nibs. When I do find a steel nib pen that I love, I often put a gold nib on it. I have only a few that keep their steel nibs.
But TWSBI is the exception and I buy every model that comes out, and have several of most models. If TWSBI ever comes out with a model that has a gold nib, I'll probably go bankrupt buying them.
@@jamesaritchie1 I think i'm just a sucker for a metal pen. I expect that in time i will probably come to my senses and end up getting an eco or a diamond.
