However, not only are certain characters based mainly on a specific game but 1. Rights are a thing still so their picks had to be limited, 2. You can't expect all series to get the same treatment as certain ones. And 3. There's always gonna be tunes that "should've been in Smash". That's why we have mods. In the end, the fact that we got Sora and KH music in Smash is fine enough. Better to have what we got than nothing.

Man, the soundtrack of this game is such a mixed bag. Some really great tracks, like this one, some great returning tracks, but then there are some really subpar additions.
