Ah, sorry, I got my Dragon's Dogma in your Final Fantasy.
Every Final Fantasy game is essentially Square Enix releasing a new music album that just happens to come with a game. FF games may vary in quality but the soundtrack is always nothing but bangers.
True. Especially when my favourite OST is that of FF XIII
Agreed, say what you want about FFXIII and XV but the music in those games are straight fire.
If a developer ever fucks up a FF ost then we've truly entered the dark times lol.
@@platnumbreaker how about FF12 ost?
@@KateikyoshiDX 12 was alright. Not terrible or anything in a good way. It has that high fantasy feel overall similar to earlier titles
Actually for me it is an hommage to all the credibly talented composers who crafted the soundscapes of FFs past. If you listen carefully, the first part is really Nobuo Uematsu with Don't Be Afraid from Final Fantasy VIII. With the rythm of the strings and the triangle which is really not common. Then, the second part looks like "Esper Battle" From Final Fantasy XII (Hitoshi Sakimoto) with the tubular bells, the powerfulls horns and the way that the percussions are playing. Then, the third part is really close to the musics of Yoko Shimomura from Final Fantasy XV, KH, ETC. with the violin playing with long notes and in the back you Can listen to the epic horns which give the rythm and the quick percussions. It is really Shimomura. Then the last part, its an hommage to Masashi Hamauzu, from final fantasy XIII. One single string with a glamour melody, and of course the piano in the back that Hamauzu loves so much. Then the single string ends with a higher note. It really looks like final fantasy XIII.
That is why I love so much this music. I can recognize the style of 4 emblematics composers of Final Fantasy ❤❤❤ thank You Soken Sama and sorry for my english, I'm french.
Dude your English is superb, don’t worry about it, and your analysis of this battle theme is the best I’ve ever seen, it’s totally on the dot
Friend, not only is your English great, you also understand music equally well, unlike those who think of Nobuo Uematsu and little else when they hear this. Your ears and tongue/writing are likely the best to be had/heard.
I never realized it before, thanks for pointing it out for us❤ also your English actually pretty good👍
This is awesome analysis! I got that "wait... this sounds super familiar" feeling but couldn't put my finger on it.
It is definitely a “on the shoulders of giants” kind of thing, but all melded together in its own epic grandiosity. I love it ❤
I purchased this game yesterday with low expectations and ended up playing it until really late at night totally hooked and excited. Wow! I’m in shock! I’m 40 and sadly I don’t have too much time to play video games anymore but this reminded me why I loved the FF games years ago.
The soundtrack and voice acting, I’m very happy!
This seems to be a massive return to form and I'm glad. I only got into the series a few years ago so this is the first brand new one to release for me.
Same here , my mind is blown! I’m Also very happy to get some old school final fantasy vibes back for once. I love this game so far, I can’t seem to turn it off.
I'm also 40, and you are gonig to love it if you keep playing, it has a "classic" feeling :) really one of the best FF in a long long time
for real! i expected it to be at least a 3/5 but it was a 10/5!!! the game is so good.
We're around the same age, and I agree totally. Can't justify a PS5 just for this game, but the second a cheaper model comes out, I'm all in!
This is a great song that sounds like making an homage to Don't be Afraid (battle theme of FF8). It's one of the best music I heard in a Final Fantasy in post-Nobuo Uematsu era
Didn't even think about that but yeah, the very beginning especially is very reminiscent of it! Awesome!
Yeah it really does. I also kinda get slight Blinded by the Light (XIII) vibes too. It’s honestly an amazing.
Soken pays homage to all the classic ff songs in ff14 music its truely a treat to hear
Around 1:10 or so it reminds of the Eureka field theme
Oh boy, you need to hear Soken work on FF XIV for those post Uematsu era of FF music.
Anything after Heavensward is most likely Soken's work.
Try Wurm's Tail, Eden Promise, Endcaller and Voidcast Saviour.
How people do not like this games music is beyond me, ff fans are strange.
Actually it is the song of FF legacy together FF8,FF12,FF13,FF14 solid
FF fans are like Star Wars fans
people like its music though I've only seen praise fo it, it even won an award
The battle themes are indeed fantastic, but the location and ambient music is pretty mid.
Because it's generic.
None of the music is bad, it's just mostly boring. There's like 3 pieces of music in this game that I can remember after beating this game, and I don't care to go back and repeat listen to any of them. Extremely disappointing soundtrack.
The melody below The main battle theme around 1:07 is the best part of this music for me.
Late reply but it is the motif from the Eureka Exploration theme from FF14. its also heard in the Eikon battle theme. I love it so much! 😭
@@starsixsix i've only played ff7 remake and this one so idk, but even if its not that unique as it appears to me, this game spins on classic ff themes are marvellous.
I love this part the melody here is so rich I find myself thinking about this from time to time
Grips my heart I always think about the struggle the little brother must have felt here not knowing what was going on when he was fighting his brother in the begining
totally bloodstained vibes
Thanks, man. Time to listen to this on repeat for 10 days.
It really be like that man

At work like ".... Im gonna listen to the battle theme again"

From 0:00 to 0:50 is a musical aliteration nod and homage to the grandmaster Nobuo Uematsu in which Soken uses the motif from Final Fantasy 8 - "Don't Be Afraid" to directly tie anticipation and nostalgia into one bundle..
From 0:52 onward we hear the next titan composer honored Hitoshi Sakimoto, Square's next addition to thier lineup in 1997 with FF Tactics. Soken uses a lietmotif from "Esper Battle" which is from FFXII.
From 1:09 onwards we are brought back to Soken's own work from FFXIV - "Wicked Winds Whisper" which is played in Eureka.
Then from 1:45 onwards we come to the Masashi Hamauzu Era or Squaresoft merging into Square Enix with FF 13 and its leitmotif nod to "Blinded by Light". Soken uses a single string line with a chromatic melody and really leans towards Hamauzu's style with airy notes.
Soken then decides to honor the latest addition to the Final Fantasy mainline series and longtime veteran Yoko Shiomura.
At 2:35 we now hear his leitmotif for "Apocalypse Noctis" from FFXV.
Then subtle overlays including at 3:10 with a Hitoshi Sakimoto nod with the tubular bells.
He juggles back to Yoko Shiomura around 3:27 and were back with Noct and the boys with another reprise of Wicked Winds Whisper.
The song is insane and I do believe I hear a little homage to FFXI as well with the bridge being similar to "Onslaught" in which the snare drums and percussive elements are very attacking and charging in nature. It is composed by another great creative mind, Naoshi Mizuta.
You're hearing things wtf
Excellent breakdown my dude! Very much appreciated especially when you notice these homages in the track like "hang on isn't that..." Ye know? So cheers
@@NotChannel2 Hearing more than we did my dude, he's spot on though.
Notice how actual bangers like FFX-2, FF7, FFX, FF4, FF5, FF13 etc. are nowhere mentioned. I'm sorry but this is orchestrated white noise. The games you've listed have completely mediocre melodies and harmonies. The true OST effort went into FF7 remake.
@@LaJin9292 I love all of Hamauzu's work on FF7R and FF13, Matsueda made one of my favorite sequel soundtrack in the FF franchise with FFX2 and FF4, FF5 and FF6 are among my top games for the franchise. Hamauzu first was brought to my attention with his skilled work on FFX and Unlimited Saga before composing for FF13 and FF7 Remake.
Gotta be thankful. FF8 battle theme was remade for FF16. Same epicness all over again ❤
Wow this sounds like it pays major tribute to "Don't Be Afraid" from FF8 and that warms all the nostalgic corners of my heart! ❤

“I’m here to even the odds, any objections?.”
"I'll take the dragon. Clive, you can focus on the dragoon."
There’s a lot of tragedy in this theme, and also a lot of inspiration from Uematsu’s work in the previous titles. It’s so good how Soken plays with old notes and modernizes them to a current trend.
We can call that a banger 😄
What do you mean there's a lot of tragedy?
@@s3_singularity187 Overall song is very melancholic throughout. It sounds like a battle theme but more desperate, like people fighting for their lives. You can compare this to other battle themes like Persona 5 where the overall tone is more upbeat but still a fight song nonetheless, as if they're getting ready to give it their all.
0:33 best part but the entire song is supreme, probably the most beautiful battle theme of the franchise for me now.
Correct.
the leitmotiv comes back for the boss battle and it's so good

its SO good
This is pretty much what i expect for a modern FF battle theme, it retains the classic feels in the intro before quickly dive into more "cinematic" feels with how FF combat evolve overtime
This is the only i slept on went it came and i’m an avid final fantasy player, and it has not disappointed me yet. The story, the battle system and the Aeons or summon fights, ifrit vs titan was the best, i was extremely impressed, once i have finished my video game design degree program, i want Square enix on my project. I actually have some cyberpunk idea with this battle system

@@RasenRendanX ff15 barely crawled lmfao
FF16's FOV is too close. FF15's camera is actually better for the warp-heavy real time action combat they're going for.
@@paulklp8262 I disagree it’s cinematic but the combat needs less of that to concentrate on positions and combo potential. To much cinematic angling and shit would ruin your placement.

@@omensoffate look really feel you on this one because i had the same feeling as the comment above and was really confused as how they got that emotional reaction from me despite how little time you spend with those set of characters. But I think Joshua's personality shines through even with the small amount of time that you spend with him, at least enough to pull some sort of emotion if you like don't have too high expectations for story telling. I do agree that the emotional payoff would be times more effective if the game gave you more time with him but at least for me and some other folk it was enough to at least get something out of us.

1:08 best part
This is my favorite song from FF 16 OST.
I can't have enough of this masterpiece.
While people say “newer final fantasy isn’t final fantasy”, I find this to be better than the original combat system. I do like the turn based combat, but real time, open world combat just has a different feeling to it. You have so much more control over the fight and you have to actually be smarter than your enemies, which is what makes newer final fantasy games better and more unique in their own way.
I don't even understand that view point they have for FF. The combat system isn't what makes any of the games a FF game. For me anyway, it's usually the story having some common theme between the series. Most of them have a theme revolving around crystals (not all of course). Or something else tying them together. I think and this is my opinion of course, that a lot of people are blinded by nostalgia and are unwilling to embrace change. If the games stayed the exact same then there's no point of me buying new ones tbh.
This theme has got me. The harmonics and notation make this so lively but also dramatic. And yea. In a deadly fantasy world every battle would feel like this. Very fitting.
Soken really pulling off that classic battle ost vibe! Has that uematsu feel with Soken twist
The solo violin really gets you off guard while beating up that adamantoise.
