- This year I`ve focused investing into a really nice analog mastering chain, from DA/AD converters to hardware compressors and eq. This is the gear I use when mastering but that doesn`t mean that I don`t use plugins too.
The mastering chain : Burl B16 Mothership ( BMB2 Madi ) + BDA4M , RME UFX+ , Tegeler Audio Manufaktur Creme + VTC + Konnektor , Bettermaker Mastering EQ + Mastering Limiter, Rupert Neve Designs Portico II Master Bus Processor, Dangerous Music Convert AD+.

When you do add the fab filter L, Are you adding it after it’s captured, then bouncing to disk? Or do you go through the converters another round after FF L for final print.
I add the limiter after the AD and I do the printing at the same time.

Question on your chosen AD converter, I see that your are familiar with BURL products, please help me understand your logic for choosing the Dangerous music Convert AD over the BURL ADC unit? Do you use any outboard gear for Summing? Much appreciated.
Not using summing at the moment. I got the Dangerous over the Burl because it`s a bit more versatile and on the cleaner side.
That Rme had already covered you in terms of converting the signal! Have you tried to clip it? Mastering studios are buying converters to impress clients which on blind test either will be able to tell the difference!

How do you use all AD / DA converters simultaneously in your DAW? Are they all connected to the RME UFX+ through MADI or AES and clocked to the internal clock of the UFX+? I'm looking for a way to add a AD converter while still using my Benchmark DAC 3 DX for monitoring without sacrificing audio quality using one ASIO.

Everything is connected to the UFX+ ( the Burl via MADI and the AD+ via AES ) and I`m using the Burl as the masterclock since it has 2 WC outputs.

Hey bro I got the lynx hilo. And I was wondering how much of the level i should send going out from the converter to my outboard gear and how much I should set the input of the conveter coming back in ? Let's say my mix is peaking at -6 db on the master bus ..
Hey man, it really depends on how you want to set your conversion loop. For example on my AD+ / B16 I have the option to set the calibration from -14 -16 -18 dBFS. I have it set to -14 on both at the moment. Cheers

@@2probeats also are those the trim settings? Because mine can go up to 24dbu and know some outboard gear has different trim amount that they can handle

Do we still need AD/DA converters? I got apollo x8 and the converter inside is good, whats the different O.O
Those new UAD converters are still really good 130+db of head room
You don`t really need high end conversion if you already have a high end audio interface. The difference is small but for me is worth it.

sorry , my mistake , I see you are only using the plugins for routing and not for mastering. I originally turned off in disappointment that there was a computer involved.

First off, you need to learn the difference between digital and analog gear. Your setup is not 100% analog gear...
This is why I do these videos. To learn something new from people like you
