I can't stop being amazed by his left hand, both on matched and traditional grips. The control he has over accented and non accented notes is simply delightful
Playing march helps a lot. Once I took that attitude for real my left hand started jumpin'. Lol.
SIMPLY THE BEST CONTEMPORARY JAZZ DRUMMER IN THIS WORLD.
This man is clearly a genius.
There's so much music in this man, yet I'm most enthralled by the in time and totally musical choking of the cymbals in his fills. It just grabs me such a fundamental way.
26:12 Saddely all those masters has left us, but it´s music is for forever.
By far the best content yet from Vic Firth. Thanks!
You have become maybe top 3 drummers of mine. Your stuff with DJ scratch is beautiful and then your kinfolk album is beautiful. I stopped playing the drums for 25 yrs and over the last 4 of playing again, jon fishman, Dave Dicenso and yourself as made this journey so much fun! Can’t forget billy Mickey and benny and Matt! Neil was reason i ever wanted to pick up the sticks in the 1st place. Thank you 🙏🏼
just saw Nate play for the first time last night on a short IG video. I am not a drummer but I was blown away by his skills and now here I am! haha
Give me as much Nate as you can record. He's a treasure.
#NateSmith, you are truly amazing and I aspire to you're level of ghost notes and groove.
Thanks for the presentations and performances. I remember Dennis Chambers saying he was really into Clyde Stubblefield as well.
The warmup exercises were a nice surprise! Fantastically tasteful player, thank you for sharing some insight into your magical style!
JALEEL SHAW!!!!!
Nate smith In the house!

Love this guys style.
These are the fill to get things down, thx many times 🍺
Awesome playing and sound !!!!
Thank you for the lessons.
Incredible player
This was such an insightful and well done vid 👏
I love the bass drum pedal beater used in the 1st tune. Dope!
Great stuff Thanks
Let's talk about this flawless left hand technique while in traditional grip shall we. #yeesh
Let’s gooooo
Hi everybody. This is Nate Smith and you're watching Disney Channel.
Ghost notes at 15:00 sound just like Bone Thugs N Harmony to me
wtf, anybody noticed how he kind of throws the right stick on the Purdie Shuffle? watch in 25% and you see how he's just holding the stick with his index finger on the ghost note. never seen something like this. love Nate Smith
Left hand too is extremely open, as opposed to keeping the stick firmly in the thumb fulcrum. Very interesting approach
🔥🔥🥁🥁🥁❤
🕊
Endorses Evan’s but still using that good ole powerstroke3 , i see you 👀
The star of the show here is the snare, sooo sensitive
Anyone see if he’s got UV1s or UV2s on the snare and toms?
Is the 1 dislike from Vater?............
That traditional grip is nasty!!!
Raaaamboooo
Vic Firth you're sweat with "finding the perfect pair". But the fact is that this guy would remain insanely precise even with tree trunks 😂
