    Nice work Ian/Austin. ..👈 Is definitely helpful to know and understand the differences in the turbochargers that you guys build/repair.. good stuff!

    Is there any benifits to the new turbos than the old ones, if you were to swap it out. I saw in the comments you would need an adapter harness to make it work. I have a 2012 2500 6.7 and am starting to get mechanical turbo codes. So I am starting to think of getting a new turbo. What are your thoughts. Also live in Canada if that makes any difference for shipping issues. Really love the videos, very informative. Keep up the great work.

    I have an 07.5 6.7 Cummins dodge 2500. I am about to tear the top half down to repair a blown head gasket. I am considering rebuilding the turbo while I have everything else out of the truck. Is it the same turbo as the 08-13 turbo? It is a holset turbo.

    What do you recommend using to clean the Hot side that’s full diesel soot and gunked up? Also, when you assemble the compressor wheel on the turbine shaft, is there a certain timing the turbine wheel and compressor when need to be set at for balance or something? Thanks

    If I did this rebuild would I need to calibrate the solenoid after it’s all put back together?

    Where does the 67mm turbine come from on the he351ve the 300vg ?

    Hello, great video! I have a question about my HE300vg, the actuator quit working and my truck (2017 ram 2500) would make nearly no boost until wide open throttle and it would only make 10-12psi max. The turbo brake was also no working at all. I removed the turbo and everything spins very freely and no play in the shaft. The brake arm is a little sticky but not too bad. I’m trying to determine what would have caused the failure of the actuator. The actuator is a “City Diesel upgraded actuator”. I notice the vane ring (the little slotted ring the vanes slide into on the hot side) spins freely and I’m thinking the vanes didnt line up and jammed causing the actuator to burn out. Can you elaborate on what the “soot tabs” are and where they are located? Thank you so much

      @turbolabamerica  Před rokem

      The actuators go bad sometimes. I can’t diagnose the reason for failure. The gear could have been in the work position before installing the actuator

    Is it possible to disassemble a 300VG that needs to be cleaned to free up nozzles and reassemble back with old parts just to gain a little time before a complete rebuild? I have no time now to do the rebuild or to order parts

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  Před 4 lety

      It make sense to remove the rust from the bearing housing and turbine housing otherwise it’s difficult to reassemble. The issue varies on those sometimes the ring is cracked , sometimes the nozzle is broken and can be repaired

    Do the he351ve and the he300vg have the same size compressor wheel plz help I need my truck fixed asap?!?!?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  Před měsícem

      Most do but there is a 56 x 86mm compressor wheel used on the He300vg with cab and chassis. Otherwise the earlier models have the hx40 59.96 x 86 mm compressor wheel.

    Can the 300 bearing plate and it's associated parts (thrust bearing, thrust collar) be swapped onto a 351 to gain the sealing advantage of two sealing rings?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  Před 4 lety

      Greg Pierce it is not possible because of the bolt size difference that holds down the plate is larger on the He300vg.

    • @gregpierce5296
      @gregpierce5296 Před 4 lety

      @@turbolabamerica The 300 uses larger bolts, correct? So they should fit through the holes in the bearing plate. Or am I missing something?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  Před 4 lety

      Greg Pierce the bolt holes been larger is a problem because of the sealing ability of the original bolts which have orings. There are 2-3 variations of the He300vg seal plate /bearing housing design.

    • @gregpierce5296
      @gregpierce5296 Před 4 lety

      @@turbolabamerica If the only issue is sealing of the holes, then that is a pretty straightforward problem to solve. One could either come up with a way to to seal the smaller bolts to the larger holes (i.e. by bushing the holes down), or drill and tap the cartridge to accept the larger bolts. Aside from that, I assume there are no other issues with such a swap?
      A few more questions:
      1: Is there a performance difference between the 351 and the 300?
      2: What is the price on the bearing plate and thrust collar?
      3: Is the 300 actuator more reliable than the 351 actuator? I know the connectors are different, but aside from that is there any other reason the 300 actuator won't swap on to a 351 turbo?
      I appreciate you taking your time with these questions. Thank you!

    • @turbolabamerica

      The actuator is different, you can use an He351ve actuator or get an adapter harness
