If you’re anything like me, your spoken profanity to putt ratio is 1:4, this does not include profanity directed at external noise sources (planes, motorcycles, sirens, formula 1 race cars -lol). Five hours to film this? Wow, I am impressed with your focus and dedication.
I play a Ping Redwood Anser and love it!! I own and have tried an 8802, Seemore, Zebra, Fat Lady Swings, Wilson flange blade, and bullseye. Nothing works better for me than the Redwood Anser. I feel I have better distance and direction control with it as with any of the others. I did a lot of searching to find out that the Anser is the answer to my putting problems.
Just found this video in 2022. I agree with your statement about not getting a putter before you know what you need. I had been using a ping b60 hand me down for a while before deciding on a new putter. After a trip to my local golf shop, I stumbled into an odyssey o works 7 tank. It was used but still in decent shape. It was definitely love at first putt. I almost couldn’t miss a putt with it, so I naturally took it and ran.
Have you tried putting with a hire trolley handle? If you can putt with that you can putt with anything. Profanity count, knowing you, 1 just to make sure it’s count.
I dont go to the range that often, that oart of my game is consistent enough. I go to the putting greens and love the ones with slightly bigger holes than the ball. That has helped me more than any aspect of the game.
Easily the best opening to a golf video ever!! Also most common sense info to help all us spanners who think you can buy the solution to putting problems rather than practice
We need videos saying, grip like this, swing like this, and whatever trick you manage,...because when you go to the course .. everything disappeared from the brain...😅 Thanks for the help
Used a mallet forever and had an opportunity to buy a Scotty Cameron 2.5 Newport from a friend he picked up for a steal bought it because of the price and now it's in the bag ...hole putt after putt with it ...but I am a pretty decent putter with any putter long as it's not lite as a feather ....but everyone should test and test some more ....
Very very right! Spend time with wedge and putter always. I work at (USA-San Francisco) Dick's Sporting Goods). I do all those odd putts and the customers love them. Why? I ask, do you spend $499 on a driver you have not got the right length, shaft or skill to use well when you can buy a Scottie for even less! Or the top TaylorMade, Odyssey or Ping putter? Do both if you have the money, but you will use the wedge 10-15 times if you shoot in the low 90's and eighties, and putt at least 30 times. Besides, if you really examine it logically, a consistent putting/wedge stroke is a miniature version of the swing. So, you lose nothing so far as the swing is concerned.
I currently use a Never Compromise GM2 putter and doubt I will ever change it...I did just put a Super Stroke grip on it recently. It was my grandfather’s and the grip that came with it is no longer made...so I got the closest I could find. It’s a smidge smaller, but I have a better feel for it now.
Great video cant imagine how many takes that took. I got a Wilson 8802 blade putter with that set i picked up. it feels great but def no forgiveness at all lol
My putter is probably 8 or 9 yrs old something John letters most people would say grip is gone but it works fine. I think it's more stroke technique and your read if it's a gd put. Nvr see me getting a new putter or new clubs of any sort tbh don't like the prices for gains that manufacturers claim too much proof out there that old gear works just as well to justify the cost. If you like your clubs they'll perform for you and if there not it's most likely operator error. What's more important the new club market or the used one? iv enjoyed the bargain club reviews been interesting.
Have to agree with you on blade putters Simon. For years I would use nothing but a blade putter but once I put a mallet style putter in the bag it was a game changer! I also detest those hideous thicker than thick grips, can't feel the putter head with them. There must have been around 50 swear words!😂
I don’t know what you were doing differently in this video, but your voice/intonation/pace at which you were talking were slightly different from usual. And so much better!!! Not saying it’s bad normally, but for some reason the way you were speaking in this was much clearer and much more “draw you in” to the conversation. It Was like a Tiff needell/ David Attenborough hybrid... 👌🏻 I make a lot of videos for work and this is always what we are looking for- if you can nail that skill you are in for some serious cash. So many people are knowledgeable, but don’t have the presentation skills to make it seem, not like a presentation, but a conversation. Looks like you are fully developing both 💪🏼 Good for you man.
5 hours to make, (300 minutes), sear every 2 minutes= 150 times. But still impressive. I practiced every night with a blade putter after work from 10 feet. I wouldn't stop 'til I made 10 in a row. I game a mid-mallet and have gone from bad to average to very, very good on the greens.
Awesome video, super funny! What helped my putting was a 9' putting mat with a sharpie line from one end to the hole. You learn to roll it over the line , you'll be a putting machine. Then go to a real putting green and start rolling 9' to 10' slightly uphill putts. If you hole 80% of those, you got it.
Couldn’t count any but that biker was giving it some welly Love your vids keep them cumming actully helped me get back into the game after 18years of not playing.
If you A/B test with the stock grip and a thicker grip (i.e. superstroke grip) and the thicker grip is more comfortable, what’s wrong with that? Peoples putting styles change over time, nothing wrong with a grip change.
Simon love the video. I played a mallet for two years and was awful with it. Changed to a Wilson Michigan which suited my arc putting stroke. Just invested £60 in a Ping Sedona from 1999!
To answer your questions. I have know clue when or how I found your channel but I love your videos. I don't think you said one bad word the entire time as it should have been a good challenge for you. I am still using the putter from my cheap set I bought and meanwhile I have replaced all my other clubs. I guess I did that wrong. LOL
probably this is the same reason I do not enjoy playing with my girlfriend as much...she gets cross when I curse. Golf is a four-letter word! the ping Redwood series still is a classy line and probably underrated.
Went to treat myself to a Scotty Cameron (£300+) and walked out with a wogo hot blade (£30) instead :) Not a cheap bugger as I had the moolah saved up for it BUT the Hotblade just felt nicer in the hand for some reason. Might still treat myself if I can get under 15 this coming year!! :)
I heard zero profanities but I laughed my ass off at the end! I’m using a Ping Pal 4 right now and the one you have looks like GOLD compared to it! I don’t know why but I like the old school putters. Great video!
Thank you, this gave me a good laugh whilst at work. I invested in a fitted Evnroll at the start of the year, basically because i sold a couple guitars i wasn't using anymore, so i thought i'd put the money into something i am doing alot more, and i'll hopefully have it for a long time. Have had a few putter lessons, and my range of putts per round has gone down from about 33-38, to about 29-34 putts.
I’ve been playing good rounds but have been putting terribly. I’ve been two and three putting and this weekend I’m about to buy a new putter. I’ll start the 6 straight putts and see how this goes, in the mean time let me try that one u have lol. Couldn’t hurt!
i've probably had more putters than anybody. over the course of 40 years i've had 20 putters 3 times all second hand mostly and picked up at very low prices. i'm down to a few now. i'm trying a new technique where i arch my hands up some and it keeps the club on line longer. the only thing is it brings the heel off the ground so maybe i can adjust the lie angle.
Two things: great video, excellent points and mad props to you for sticking with it! Second point you had 420 comments when I posted mine which is funny to me because I'm a man child. Now you have 421 comments.
Taking in to account how difficult putting is, the shots you did with the grip, the back of the head, over the shoulder, through the rough, not forgetting the slope of the greens and how long each take took: I'm going to guess that you swore at least....twice. Maybe 3 times if you lost composure.
Dedication, I was given a blade King putter when I was 13 and still use it, badly. Borrowed a insert faced putter and couldn't get any feel. Maybe time for a mallet
Thanks for the video Simon. Always original and you cover things to consider you don’t get from other golf channels on CZcams e.g. size of grip. I’ll be practising my putting a lot more now. Cheers.
Zero profanities, and an excellent video young man. We're all tied up in driving a million yards, but for us mere mortals ,its chipping and putting that gives us a lower score card.
Not sure I agree with not changing the grip after you bought it, changing from the stock Odyssey grip into a Super Stroke about 5 months after buying my Versa #7. These years later I have no interest in replacing either really. That may be a good suggestion for newer players, but not a hard and fast rule.
I have no idea you spent so long on making these videos, if I could leave like more than once then i sure will. I counted 33 times but good effort Simon, I enjoyed that more than the proper content ;)
Man I was sure you were using some kind of cgi or remote control ball, or the reverse video technique. Kudos for no profanity !! That redwood is bang on my fit, I’m 6’0 and I use 33” and shorter putters, I’m just back playing after 5 years off and I can’t get over how everyone now has a mallet putter and adjustable driver. I’m with you on the thick grip, I need to feel the weight of the head
That was impressive. Love the determination and grit you put into this video. Also more impressive with the Zero Profranities. I would have probably blown a fuse lol
A similar video you did like this persuaded me to not spend £200 on s putter fitting and new putter and just concentrate on practising with what I have got which was Sam putt lab fitted a few years ago. My putting just by practising has got me confident on the greens again after not liking my putter at all. Now I don't know what to use my money on lol?
Simon, my wife always tells me “ it's not the putter, it's the person doing the putting! But it sure is fun collecting them…lol😅. My guess is about 70 swear words were uttered during the making of this video ( a conservative estimate) . Cheers from Nova Scotia. M.
I would literally kill to have that much time to spend out on the course. To think I was running around 3 hours ago fighting to use the computer to ring in drinks for my table at the restaurant I work at just to have the table complain that there was to much salt on their Margarita rim. If you’re looking for a hand I would gladly help you sink some putts 💯
Great video Simon. I’m betting it took days to film the putts you managed to sink but the result was excellent. Keep up the good work. On serious note I have decent credit in our Pro Shop and am about to invest in new, expensive putter so your vid contained some good pointers.
Well that was a lotta lotta putts 😁 had a ping anser g2 when first started now use ping ugly it’s much better easier to line up more forgiving and not going to change it anytime soon not even for a redwood 😜
Thanks For Watching Guys and Yes this video did take 5 hours to film haha
So about the same time as Bryson DeChambeau 😂
4,5hours for the first putt?
If you’re anything like me, your spoken profanity to putt ratio is 1:4, this does not include profanity directed at external noise sources (planes, motorcycles, sirens, formula 1 race cars -lol). Five hours to film this? Wow, I am impressed with your focus and dedication.

Haha, love the faster talking because of all the takes

I have this exact putter. Great feel, nice look, but for me it’s a bit light which is why it only gets about 1 round per year.
I'm using a 2nd hand scotty Cameron California del mar...changed the grip and its amazing not going to change for a long time
Easily the best opening to a golf video ever!! Also most common sense info to help all us spanners who think you can buy the solution to putting problems rather than practice
Lol. Video exhausted me.
I did chg grip in new putter but I knew the grip weight and made up difference by adding weight to putter head. Great advice.
I love this! The advice was also good. Thank you for taking the time to do something so silly to brighten our days and give us advice.
We need videos saying, grip like this, swing like this, and whatever trick you manage,...because when you go to the course .. everything disappeared from the brain...😅 Thanks for the help

I've got a Yes putter for over 10 years and it's nicely balanced. That Ping Redwood looks ace though

This would be one of the most frustrating videos to make! Well done 👍🏾 I wouldn’t mind a 33” putter 😬
Great video cant imagine how many takes that took. I got a Wilson 8802 blade putter with that set i picked up. it feels great but def no forgiveness at all lol
i_Rant only problem with blade putters. Thanks mate!

14 seconds in and I need to know. How long and how many takes did that putt take?
How many takes was that ⛳️🤫
Your advice is awesome. The over the shoulder flick is definitely the greatest. Love the outtakes. Well done had a good laugh. Thank you

im a oddysey 440 dual force guy,its a early model and i love it,thanks for the great video
I sure it was too many to count. That putter has an amazing look to me and it is the perfect length for my short self.
Smiled all thru that video
Profanity, I would think about 12 per hour, I don't know how long you were in making the vid
Taking in to account how difficult putting is, the shots you did with the grip, the back of the head, over the shoulder, through the rough, not forgetting the slope of the greens and how long each take took: I'm going to guess that you swore at least....twice. Maybe 3 times if you lost composure.
Over 100? You must have been worried it was going to get dark. Excellent video.
That was wonderful. So worth the many hours and 7 profanities invested. ;-) Great putter also!
Cheers.
Cursing on film 0 cursing not shown 100s 😂😂😂 great video mate I'm miss my old ping putter I'll happily take that one off ya 😉
The redwood putters are absolutely class.
Last “scenes” missing putts cracked me up. Had to subscribe. Golf is supposed to be fun. Now give me that putter. Lol
Zero profanities, and an excellent video young man. We're all tied up in driving a million yards, but for us mere mortals ,its chipping and putting that gives us a lower score card.

My guess is loads! My take from this is that I shouldn’t buy a new putter, therefore a secondhand putter will do nicely.
Miss your trick shot videos great video.
I have no idea how many times you swore, however I do tend to count your however's lol
I HEARD 0 PROFANITYS!
WHICH IS F**KING AMAZING!!
Great video!! You do some fun, awesome, funny work! Love it!
This is my favorite video of yours.
Your a proper lad zero curse words !!! Hahaha I miss my blade style putter would be a great win thanks for the chance :)
Alot of very valid points.
Great commitment to finish this vid.
The end of this video made me feel much better about my putting game.
I have no idea you spent so long on making these videos, if I could leave like more than once then i sure will. I counted 33 times but good effort Simon, I enjoyed that more than the proper content ;)

No swear words..... but the advice was spot on 😂
That was impressive. Love the determination and grit you put into this video. Also more impressive with the Zero Profranities. I would have probably blown a fuse lol
Great video. Will definitely take this into account when buying a new putter.
Perfect for me use a titelist dead center atm good but showing its age. 89 about the same has me if I win
A similar video you did like this persuaded me to not spend £200 on s putter fitting and new putter and just concentrate on practising with what I have got which was Sam putt lab fitted a few years ago. Didn’t hear any swearing, great vid, great advice.
smiled the whole way through, serious production value. TOO FUNNY!
Brad Harris thanks Brad that means a lot! Best compliment Iv ever had! Cheers pal.
Same Ping Anser putter for 30 years , wouldn't change
Remarkably no swearing on the outtakes as well, good job ;-) Nice vid!
Really enjoyed watching this video ! Been watching your channel for awhile now, Thanks Simon !
What a putter that is by the way!!! Miss my old one
The distance at which PGA Tour pros make 50% of their putts is 8 ft. Underreported fact that made me a lot kinder to myself on missed putts!
At least 302. Love a ping blade though.
Brilliant, made me smile and made me think about my putting. Thanks
Great video! Very creative. Thanks for taking the time to put it together.
Definitely over 40!!!!!!!! Great video.
No actual swear words were used or hurt in the making of this vid, lol. Nicely done, cheers.
Thank you for the honest out takes!!!
I would literally kill to have that much time to spend out on the course. awesome video, and very true knowledge, I didn't hear any swearing, good boy, keep up the great vids
Best golf video of CZcams. Ever.
james dutschke James your too kind!!
Well that was a lotta lotta putts 😁 had a ping anser g2 when first started now use ping ugly it’s much better easier to line up more forgiving and not going to change it anytime soon not even for a redwood 😜
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Bro this is sick. Love it, so much effort, putter looks glorious too.
Are you still trying to hole the one from off the green? If that putter is a few degrees upright, it might just be right for me.
Great video. I enjoyed the outtakes. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant, best video yet!
Profanity count: ♾
What are the distance you have mentioned in the video to practice six putting in a row. Thank you
Thumbs up for the dedication to making those shots 😂
0 cause with the right putter for you, you never miss. First take every time ☝🏻
Thanks RAF Brize Norton
Top video sometimes not aiming makes putting easy.I bet your bleep machine has over heated.
Hahahaha. Probably, your best video yet mate. Class.
