  • James Swagger is a researcher, field investigator and engineer who has dedicated the last 15 years of his life to researching megalithic sites and ancient cultures. James has been to over 400 megalithic tombs dotted across Europe, in addition to stone circles and henges in search of commonalities and design. James utilizes his engineering background as a systems analyst as a utility to reduce the complexity of ancient megalithic sites. He returns to discuss the Irish and Scottish origins of Halloween. He’ll talk about the Irish/Scottish ‘Samhain’ festival originating in the British Isles about 1300 years ago. He’ll tell about Celtic pagan rituals that relate to the megalithic calendar and solar wheel. James says pagans inherited their solar worship from the megalith builders. He also talks about how the church aimed to Christianize the Celtic pagans and how the shift from Hallows day became Hallows Eve or Halloween. In the second hour, we’ll hear about the mythology of spirits and inter-dimension beings at Halloween. He’ll talk about the Aos Si, banshees, witches, fairies and supernatural women of Ireland. We also hear about the Tuatha De Danann, a race of supernaturally-gifted people in Irish mythology. Later, we discuss other deities and festivals of pre-Christian Gaelic Ireland and variant branches of paganism.

    At around 39:00 you mention the tribes pouring out of Scandanavia into other parts of Europe. That time period coincides with the eruption of Samales (AD 535-536) in Indonesia, it was a massive eruption with it's signatures found in both the N. and S. Hemispheres. Some scholars theorize that it was this eruption that lead to mass migrations during the 500's, not just in Europe, but also in the Asiatic Steppe.

    Very nice conversation and openminded speculation. It is true that history is a biased subject which relies on concensus to be done, and there is much that is voluntarily left unseen, while the studies teach only one way to look at things - which is often as far from making sense as can be. I was taught in school that there was nothing in Finland before the swedes came - but just listening to legends and by looking around it is not difficult to know better. Would love to reflect on these things, because I have something to say in almost every subject you touch. Keep up talking. =)

    It was an astrological acknowledgement, and an understanding that the winter; has the potential to be challenging, AND; it does seem that in some point in time (maybe not always) there truly may have been; sacrifice rituals, but: it maybe that in the earliest times that wasn't so (Maybe), at some time; there may have been different types of spiritual elites or cults; some more undermining, and some much more wholistic in the best way; for people. They came into and out of supremacy. Similar to today, except the more negative types definitely have the lead; on the world. "Please" see : Michael Tsarion on CZcams, and his Ireland work.

    This was very interesting and great research. However, I would just like to make a distinction between Catholics and Christians as the only commonality they have is the believe in Jesus Christ, The Father, and the Holy Spirit being One God. As Druids are to wiccans each having distinct practices and rituals so are Catholics distinct from Christians. Hence, the different name. Though Catholics acknowledge Christ as Savior they have completely different practices, rituals, and traditions. Catholics are polytheistic, they practice necromancy by praying to the dead saints, and they do not believe in the sufficiency of Christ as Savior hence the worship of Mary as a co-mediatrix (co savior). Christian's didn't steal your holiday, as most of your practices and that of the Catholics are forbidden in their religion. Catholics did. Christian's are mono- theistic. Thanks for the information.

      Live truth. Live Catholic. The One True Church Created by God our Lord Jesus Christ. To Jesus Through Mary. We worship the Holy Trinity, One God. Mary is the most perfect human who is the Mother of God and the Mother of all Christians. The Son of God gave us His Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. @@HolyFamilyHermit , not according to the Holy Scriptures, or Mary herself.
      1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
      Firstly, all men have sinned, including Mary, and fallen short of the glory of God [Rom 3:23], and through one man sin entered the world and death spread to all men [Rom 5:12]. King David writing in Psalms says that he was brought forth in iniquity and in sin when his mother conceived him - biblical proof of mankinds sinful nature from the time of conception. [Psa 51:5]. According to the law of Moses every mother that conceived, either a male or female, had to after an appointed time offer sacrifices to God: one as a burnt offering, and one as a sin offering [Lev.12]. Mary, after conceiving Jesus made these sacrifices in accordance and obedience to the Law God gave to Moses. This is clearly indicated to us in the book of Luke chap. 2 ver. 21-24, as Mary applies this very observance as is required of every Jewish woman who conceives her first born son. Read Leviticus 12 is first, understand what is being said, then read Luke 2:21-24. Once reading and understanding what is being said, it is clear that the offering Mary offers makes according to ... law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. [Lk.2:24], ... the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: ... [Lev. 12:8]. The sin offering Mary gives is sufficient evidence Mary's carnality.
      Mary, herself, rejoiced in Godher Savior. And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
      Luke 1:46‭-‬50 KJV
      She was full of grace, meaning the Messiah was in her womb. Favored above all woman and chosen yes, perfect no. To be worshipped, nope. Without sin, absolutely not. Still a virgin, nope. As scripture clearly states she had other children after she bore Jesus Jesus Christ.
      The Catholic church was born around 330, when Constantine combined paganism and christianity. The Catholic church stole the pagan gods and attempted to Christianize them. Which is impossible. Constantine then decreed the statue of Ishtar and her son Tammuz, your baby Jesus and Mary would not be called those names to Christianize idols. Which, again, is clearly against scripture. The very first commandment given by God to Moses. The first true church was around when Jesus was alive, and started with the 12 then 11 Apostles after Judas betrayed Jesus. Then the Ephesian church, the Galatian Church, Corinthian Church etc. These were the first christian churches and they were named after their locations. Sorry your not historically accurate.
