Adding Mallow to the roster is such a big middle finger to all our years of defending the Geno addition and I am absolutely here for it. Clubhouse President is genius and I would without a doubt need to main the Yahtzee representative.
Considering it's both Geno and Mallow, I can't really call it that.
Now, if it were just Mallow, you may have a point, but its both of them so the geno fans cant complain.

Honestly since Animal Crossing IS kinda a tentpole franchise for Nintendo I could even see us both keeping Villager and Isabelle as well as getting a third character on top of that.
…then again Zelda is also a tentpole franchise for Nintendo, so maybe we don’t get anyone.

Well done. It was very nostalgic seeing you make a smash roster vid again. The editing was great and I like how you kept the explanations quick and to the point. If it was up to me I'd definitely add Paper Mario. I'm actually working on a paper mario smash moveset video now and ig I never really thought of it til now but you inspired me to make such a video.

Great to see you back! Honestly, this would be a pretty neat roster for some kind of Smash reboot, that really fleshes out every character's attacks, moveset, costumes, playstyle, etc.
It's too bad there were many veterans who got cut, but I'm sure they could find their way back onto the roster through DLC one way or another lol

No-holds-bar dream rosters are always super fun to see, I love yours a lot, and it's awesome to see you still making this stuff even after having a kid (who FYI is the cutest baby I've ever seen). Glad that Kamek is finally getting the respect he deserves as he's felt like Yoshi's obvious second rep for a while and I adore the Fire Emblem overhaul, only thing that makes my OCD go on the fritz is the Pokemon characters overlapping other columns and Geno/Mallow not being one slot ala Pyra and Mythra, but other than that no serious complaints from me.

A main thing with my potential rosters is Metal Sonic, oddly enough. It all comes down to a trailer idea I had.
Two characters are fighting Sonic in a 2v1 battle and knock him off the stage, Sonic reappears behind them and they turn to fight but he points out he's on their team with the same coloured arrows. The two fighters look confused, look down over the stage and notice a Smash invitation on the ledge which gets blown away by Metal Sonic flying back up and taking on all 3.

Great video, feels like a very modern take on the roster videos from way back in the day. Can't be bothered to make a video of my mine so I'll comment some thoughts here:
For Zelda I definitely agree on Link, Zelda, Ganondorf and Impa. I think I'd add Tingle and call it a day. As much as I like representing the different races I simultaneously don't like having them all be from the same game, and can't think of any better choices (other than Medli for a Rito character I guess).
I like your Fire Emblem line-up and I'd also add Sigurd to represent mounted units. I have no idea how a fighter on horseback would actually work, I just think it'd be cool.
I've always liked the idea of having at least one playable Pokemon from each generation. I don't have as much of an attachment to Meowth as you so I'd cut them, otherwise I agree with your choices.
Hisuian Zoroark can stay as a representative of Legends and of regional forms but I'd still like to represent Gen 5 and 8 separately.
I'd give those spots to Chandelure (already a fighter in Pokken and a personal favorite) and... Frosmoth, I guess? It's a cool design and represents two types that aren't in Smash yet.
That still leaves me with Gen 2 which goes to Steelix, because I once had a dream where he was playable in Melee. It was very funny.
Regarding third parties I don't particularly care for Goemon, Hayabusa or Rayman but I'm not completely opposed either. 2B is fine I guess but not someone I'd really picture in Smash. The only third party I'd REALLY want is Phoenix Wright and maybe an additional Mega Man character like Zero.

@dylansmith5206 my friend, there is no way that Paper Mario could ever work as a clone for regular Mario, he's got an entirely different continuity of material to draw from. Paper transformation, hammers, badges, partners, pixels, cards & stickers, there's just so much for him to draw from that would make him completely different from OG Mario

Changes I'd make to your list:
*Mario:*
Swap out Mallow for Paper Mario. Having two characters from the same spinoff seems weird.
*Zelda:*
I would converge Zelda and Sheik again (We've never had them together in a Smash game with good load times for transformation characters), and replace Impa with Midna & Wolf Link.
I'd swap out the BOTW cast for the TOTK cast. That's not even me being biased, I like BOTW more, as I haven't finished TOTK. I just think that the TOTK cast has more moveset potential from their home game instead of just Hyrule Warriors. Although, if you were to stick with the BOTW champions, there is another character who fits over Revali. Quill from Wind Waker. He never uses a bow, but why couldn't he?
*Yoshi:*
I know you have this whole thing of the original 8 at the top, but come on, Yoshi and Kamek feel so out of place there. Put them by the Mario characters instead of Banjo and Game&Watch. and While I'm at it, put your whole row of miscellaneous fighters at the end, after the fire Emblem Characters.
*Kirby:*
You can call me crazy, but I'd get rid of Meta Knight. I know he's popular in the Kirby games, but I feel liek Smash tends to put too much focus on keeping its Veterans. And with Sakurai's biases I feel like Meta Knight doesn't have the most inspired moveset ever. I say replace him with Magalor. But that's just a placeholder in lieu of a more relevant Kirby character at the time this game would be made.
*Pokémon:*
This is a bit of a nitpick, but I think Grovyle has more going for it than Sceptile, due to Mystery Dungeon series.
Furhtermore, I love the Pokémon Trainer, he's one of my mains, but I'd swap him out for a newer model. GF would probably just go with the latest release, but I think the trainer with the best potential currently would be the Galar Trainer, Featuring Grookey, Rabboot, and Inteleon.
And for moveset variety, I can't see Tinkaton standing out if Dedede sticks around. I'd add one of the Paradox Mon, probably Iron Valiant. (Maybe we could even keep in Jigglypuff's moveset with Scream Tail, so both varieties of Paradox mon get representation.)
*Kid Icarus:*
IMO, Medusa would be more suited to being a clone of Palutena. There's plenty of other Kid Icarus characters that fit this spot better. I'd put in either Hades or Phosphora.
*Xenoblade:*
I'd scrap Pyra/Mythra in order to add both Noah and Mio.
*Fire Emblem:*
Nothing to change, I just wanted to say your choices here were great. Thumbs up.
*Third parties:*
Seriously. You're keeping all of them. That's a terrible decision. the only decision on this whole list of yours that I would say is absolutely AWFUL.
I'd only keep (at most) *FIVE*. Sonic, Pac-Man, either Megaman or Ryu, either Snake or Simon, and a Square-Enix character (probably Sora).
Why do I think this? Because every single third party company has SO MUCH MORE potential in guest characters! I'm not naming any here, but Capcom alone has like a hundred choices.
Also, Sans is not the best choice for an Undertale rep. I would go with the player character.
*Miis*
I would overhaul the whole Mii system. first of all, scrap whatever specials they cooked up for them in the previous two games, let's do what they should've done to start with: Specials from about 20 or so Veteran characters. And depending on which Special moves you give them, that decided which Mii fighter you get:
A Close range Brawler, Mid-Range mostly Melee Swordfighter, Mid-range Projectile user Mage, or long Range Zoner Gunner.
All in all, I'm grilling you for keeping too many Veterans. :p

I think one of the main reasons Sakurai decided to put the Ice Climbers in the games is that he developed the original Ice Climber game.

I do like this roster you came up with, lots of cool suggestions. Here are some more detailed thoughts:
*I applaud you for removing a lot of the redundant character copies like the Links and Samuses. That's something I think should be a necessity moving forward.
* I really love the idea of having the Sages/Champions represented for a Zelda rep. I'm not sure if I'd want four separate characters for it, but I do think it's a very solid suggestion.
* I'm really split on kicking out Falco, even if you have a good justification for doing so. I do like the idea of Krystal though, showing off both a fighting style not demonstrated in Smash often, as well as a side of Star Fox that's often neglected in favor of the tried but true dogfights.
* I have no real weight on Pokemon choices since I'm not super enamored with the games, but that said I am in full support for Meowth getting his dues.
* I'm kind of surprised you picked Medusa over Hades for the Kid Icarus villain. I love Medusa, but Hades is such a bigger (and more popular) baddie that it's kind of interesting to see this choice made.
* YES! to having Olimar's alts being all the Captains. Sm4sh and Ultimate really teased us with Alph and I want to see more of them join the fray.
* Club President is such a weird and kind of dumb choice, so of course I think it's perfect lol
* I really REALLY appreciate how you handled Fire Emblem in this roster. The fact that there's so little weapon variety showcased in Smash is dumb and I'm glad to see it get fixed. I have no preference on which characters represent which weapons, but this is overall solid.
* I really dig the choices you made for "classic/retro" 3rd party characters. Bomberman, Hayabusa, and Chrono in particular.
* Always gotta support a fellow "Rayman for Smash" soldier~
* Another YES! to having Eggman as the second Sonic rep. For me, it's either him or Tails that deserve the slot far more than any Sonic character.
* I really hope Miitopia becomes the standard for how Mii implementation is going forward, Smash included. An absolute YES! to the more robust face construction that game has, but I also would love to see some of its character types make it into the game to expand beyond having the same three Mii types.

This is a really nice roster! Using the champions to help represent characters from other Zelda games is genius, and it really helps show off Zelda's different races. I love the villain inclusions of Raven Beak, Eggman, and ESPECIALLY Kamek (seriously, he's so underrated when it comes to Smash villain discussion). Other than that, the trimming down of the Fire Emblem cast into a few unique ideas is very neat and also ideal. Clubhouse President feels like an unexpected pick that makes sense and a character I could actually see being made by the Smash team, and I appreciate the puzzle rep with Lip and retro rep with Takamaru.
The only thing I do NOT like about this roster is making all of the alts for Olimar different Pikmin captains. Going "full koopa kid" for the sake of cramming in more characters is not something I'm a fan of; it's the same issue with echoes that might as well BE alts, like Peach and Daisy, in that these are different characters and making them share a moveset is a disservice to their characters. Heck, I'm of the opinion that the moveset for Bowser Jr. is hardly a moveset for Bowser Jr., it's more of a Clown Car moveset to help justify the novelty of this character being a 1-in-8.
Not to mention that a lot of the captains presented have different proportions to Olimar himself and would look odd shrunken down. I'd much rather have one, definitive Olimar (that's updated to show off his actual personality and unique traits as one of Nintendo's most charming protagonists) than a designated conglomerate "Pikmin guy".
Seriously, I could make entire non-clone movesets for Louie and Shepherd and to get people on board with them deserving their own character slots.
Rant aside, I would totally be on board with... literally everything else presented here. You've trimmed a lot of the fat of Ult's current roster while adding in a lot more unique characters, there's not much else to say. This was a fun watch, and I like how your points were quick and snappy. Nice video editing style, too.

It's not realistic to expect this many characters without keeping more veterans. I'd say it's either going to be a deluxe version of Ultimate where everyone returns with a few new characters or something brand new with a Brawl or Smash 4 size roster. You have some fun choices though

A second F-Zero rep is also likely, as is any retro character from a game produced by the late Masayuki Uemura.
Pretty good but there's a notable lack of Masked King Dedede, Dr. Stiles from Trauma Center, and Enignig.

I like this roster a lot! I think the only thing I'd change is to add Jigglypuff in there, simply because I think it'd be weird to have every one of the original 12 be on the roster except for it. If it needs a more interesting moveset, either do it for her, or give Kirby a bit more to do.

Just finished watching. The audio set-up is coming through super clean! Loved the video too. Lots of fantastic choices! I'm really glad you're back and making content. I turned on the bell.
I think one of my main complaints is that you had all of the alts mapped to same universe when there's some real potential here to bring out other universes through alts. For example, Greninja would be a great opportunity to bring in Frog from Chrono Trigger. And Revali would be a great place to sneak Falco back in.
Finally a roster that fixes the Fire Emblem representation so much and adds Tiki! This actually is one of the best fan rosters I have seen thus far. Though I would definitely change a lot of the roster still on my end but overall really good.

This newcomer line up is very good, we just have no idea which direction the series will take for the next game. I'll throw a bunch of characters I want on here:
I'd prefer Saki Amamiya as a retro pick now, simply because I like Sin and Punishment more than The Mysterious Murasame Castle after playing both. HOWEVER, Smash could revitalize interest in one or both franchises. They are high-profile Japanese-exclusive games. Saki to me has a more defined character and moveset, along with having more of a presence in the West. Also Sin and Punishment music is very good. Takamaru might be more fun to play, but Sakurai should give Takamaru the Kid Icarus treatment and make a re-imagining of the original game.
Obviously I'd go with Poochy over Kamek because Poochy (in the 3DS-era especially) has been that "second playable" Yoshi character, and I like simpler characters in Smash. Kamek would be interesting as a summoner, spellcaster, etc. but to me that's too much work for Kamek, when he could easily be adapted to a Boss in a Story Mode. Poochy can fetch opponents & run around with them, have a superarmor dash attack, dig, and use kick and lick attacks. Poochy is just peak fiction, and the people need to know. Yoshi and Poochy need woolly amiibo alts. And I don't mean a texture swap.
Porky to me is the next logical Nintendo villain to add to Smash, since he's already had a Smash appearance, and is weirdly missing from Ultimate. With the interest in MOTHER-like RPGs coming out now, Porky could be an interesting mech fighter. I understand picking Eggman over Porky, but Bowser Jr. is a mech fighter as well. Porky could take a similar approach to Ridley where he's just pure evil, not afraid of dishing out physical attacks himself.
For Rhythm Heaven I've seen people pitch The Conductor working with the Chorus Kids. You control the Conductor, and you'll have to place and utilize the Chorus Kids for certain attacks and the Specials. It's a nice work around since they were supposedly cut from Smash 4.
I think official Smash is forever cursed with having Ganondorf: The Smash Character because he's too synonymous with the franchise, so having the original pig Ganon from A Link to the Past / A Link Between Worlds would be a perfect compromise, and something I've wanted since before Smash 4. He'd have a trident, turn invisible, fling out fire bats, hover, use the triforce to generate light attacks. Basically a perfect fit, and I'm surprised hasn't made any appearance in the series.
I don't really care about Pokémon as a franchise, so from an outsider's perspective I think Decidueye is the overall best pick. Most people I know would prefer Sceptile too, but there would be a bit of design overlap with Greninja and Lucario that I just don't find interesting. Decidueye could be a cool zoner with a hover mechanic, and is generally more relevant appearing as a Final Starter Evolution in Legends Arceus, AND was almost in Ultimate. That matters more since Pokémon inclusions in Smash prioritize unique gameplay mechanics above all else.
My go-to puzzle rep would be Professor Layton since that series has a dedicated following with a revival coming. That style of game and character just hasn't been in Smash yet, and I think casual audiences would be fond of Layton and that series' whimsy.
I'm pushing for Matt from Wii Sports as the next joke character. It's because Switch Sports treats him like a hidden final boss with the nickname "Legend," proving that Matt is an established Nintendo character from a multi-game series. He's a character everyone knows, from one of Nintendo's most popular games of all time, and he can do the Sports/Athlete moveset without needing to develop a 4th Mii type.
In my opinion, the next big third party to add is a Souls character. I'd go with Tarnished, the player character from Elden Ring, then have popular Souls characters as Stage Bosses. They might do Chosen Undead, but I feel Elden Ring has that hook of being completely unexpected.
For Alt Costumes:
Toad should have Captain Toad, Toadette, and Toadsworth. Toadsworth shouldn't be a dead character, and REALLY should've been in the Mario Movie.
Marth could have Alm, Lucina, and Chrom to represent wielders of the Falchion.
Samus should have 8 different suits from the Metroid series.

This is decent, I like that you didn't cut all the Pokemon as most people do because they assume only Gen 1 matters. But I would have added Agumon/Wargreymon, Neku and Shiki, Sub-Zero or Scorpion, Nemona (Goodra, Lycanroc, Meowscarada, and Pawmot) Shantae and Dante. But that's just me.

The thing I don't like is the roster organization, I can kinda see what you were going for but also it's quite messy
You know many Smash 6 roster videos either limit 3rd parties or remove them all together. Its refreshing to have a roster that not only brings back all the existing 3rd party characters (except for unfortunately Richter) but also adding a decent amount of new 3rd parties.
Considering there to be an “original 8” instead of an “original 12” is strange, especially since 8 doesn’t include Falcon
pretty neat dream roster also I think there good be a way to bring back characters like falco, lucas, roy, and others without entirely cutting them would be adding something like moveset variations from mkx or maybe even bringing back custom moves from sm4sh but better and have said variations be based off said character and have said character be a alt for the character they were cloning that way the people who wanna play as the character that are fans of the actual character and smash incarnation can be happy. it may even be a way to add new characters like peppy and slippy for fox like the original plan was in smash 64 or ninten along with lucas or maybe new fire emblem lords as a alt/variation of marth along with roy or maybe even stuff for other characters like metal sonic, shadow and blaze for sonic for ex.

Shinobin from Snowboard Kids would be a deep cut for fans of the N64. On the N64 era games, you could add Luke Skywalker, Vader, 007, and Turok

I have reached a point where i believe there are so many good character options that I’d rather look at rosters like this from a standpoint of if I would enjoy playing as them if they got in rather than focusing on my personal picks.
And in that regard, Andy and Lip are the only ones I question. Not saying they couldn’t work. I just don’t know if I would enjoy their kits. I don’t take issue with their inclusion though. Actual Smash already has characters I don’t like playing as much and with a roster this large, I can just do what I always do and pick from the still large abundance I do like.

My thoughts on the roster: (if I don't mention a franchise it means I believe it's good but I don't really have anything to say.)
Mario series: I think it's a bit excessive to include both Geno and Mallow, and honestly, I'd rather see Fawful than either of them, perhaps it's because I haven't played Super Mario RPG. The rest of the Mario characters should be Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy (decloned), Bowser, and Bowser Jr. I think Rosalina is a bit of an uninteresting pick in my opinion and I think she could be cut.
Donkey Kong series: I think DK, Diddy, Dixie, and K. Rool are the perfect quartet. I'd also like Lanky Kong and Tiki Tong for their moveset and meme potential, but no need to flood the roster with DK characters.
Zelda series: I think Link, Zelda, Impa, and Ganondorf is another perfect quartet, but it seems excessive to include all four champions. I think one of the champions, Bokoblin for a generic enemy rep, and maybe a slightly decloned Toon Link would be my extra choices.
Yoshi series is perfect, Kamek is unironically my most requested character for smash bros.
Kirby series: I think Marx or an entity of Dark Matter could be added for a villain rep, and no, Dedede and Meta Knight don't count.
Pokemon series: Mewtwo could be replaced with Zacian, because I think it'd be cool. I don't care for Meowth as an addition. Maybee replace Incineroar with Lycanroc, but then there'd be two quadruped dogs. Replace Sceptile with Meowscarada for a more relevant grass type, and remove Tinkaton. Then there'd be 7 Pokemon reps counting Pokemon Trainer as 1, 8 including Lycanroc, who I'll just leave out.
Fire Emblem series: Even though they now have more variety, I still think that's too many. Maybe leave out the Lance user (I already forgot her name).
Kid Icarus series: Kid Icarus as a franchise is practically dead, so I'd leave out Medusa.
Sonic series: I think Tails would be a better addition than Eggman, whom I'm struggling to think what he'd do unless they make him play like Bowser Jr. I'd also probably add one of Blaze, Knuckles, or Cream (who would replace Rosalina as a puppet fighter) to go along with Sonic and Tails.
Animal Crossing series: the series is too big to leave only one fighter, so I'd add back in Isabelle, who I'd probably keep as a semiclone.
Street Fighter series: I think you could make a case for Chun-Li over Ken, but idk because I haven't played the series.
Splatoon series: I also think Splatoon is way too big for one rep, I'd add Octoling as a semiclone, and DJ Octavio as his own fighter.
As a side note, I think there are too many third parties, they should be taken for what they are, guest characters. I guess it's a dream roster, though.

I think we can keep many of the picks you left out, but they do need heavy revamps. Especially the other 2 Links. I dont think the problem is multiple Links, its just that they are similar to eachother. Like Young Link should be a combo heavy type character, like if Joker and Fox combined to represent the Exploration of the 2d and early 3D games Young Link stars in (in this case we are assuming all 2d games minus Adventure of Link, the CDi games, and all explicitly Toon based games are Young Link which they kinda are), exploring your options of using different moves. Even giving him his own roster of Young Links to cycle through like Adult Link does, with a couple spots left over for Dark Link and Ravio. Toon Link can focus on items you collect throughout the series and using them in creative ways to solve your "Puzzles", being way more technical, playing more like the Pacman or Megaman. Plus his games tend to focus more on the strange aspects of the series, including items, so I think its fitting he gets this. I think Toon Link could get the standard color swaps, but one could be Tetra. Zelda games are made up of 3 parts Exploration, Puzzles, and Combat (Maybe thats no coincidence since those 3 kinda line up with the Triforce), so these 3 Links could be that Triforce of Gameplay, while Zelda and Ganon could be more obvious Triforce counterparts, leaving Link with the head-strong courage he plays like in smash.

I think you have a really good take on the Fire Emblem cast. The Zelda cast leans way too heavily into Breath of the Wild though, and two Mario RPG characters is a bit overindulgent even for a fan roster.
for the zelda characters, I would take the hyrule warriors approach of giving the main 4 (including Impa) designs unique to smash.There aren't many recurring characters beyond them, so if I had to pick 4 more I would just go for fan favorites like skull kid and midna, or maybe an oddball pick like Piranha Plant was.
I would also add a Mii Mage character, as I feel this is the one major archetype that is really missing from the lineup. There are a lot of wizards with staves in the mii swordfighter costumes already. I don't like the idea of standardizing the weapon between each costume, but maybe that can just be another aspect you customize seperate from the rest of it.

Eh, if it were up to me I'd keep everyone from Ultimate, even the echoes. But rights issues are a thing so, since Ultimate was like the cumulation of Mr. Sakurai's run on the series, I know he said he'd like to be a consultant on the next one, I feel like the next game should feel like a new beginning for the franchise, similar to games like Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat 9. So for the first year, I'd have 16 starter characters, 8 unlockables and 6 DLC, making 30 total. For starters, I'd choose the original eight, plus one character who was a newcomer in each of the games between the original and the newest, Marth from Fire Emblem representing Melee, Pit from Kid Icarus representing Brawl, Villager from Animal Crossing representing Smash 4, and Inkling from Splatoon representing Ultimate. The final four starters would be new of course, one slot would be filled by the protagonist of the newest Nintendo IP, cause you know Nintendo's gonna have a new one before the next Smash, and the other three, I'd choose one representative each from Nintendo's biggest franchises aside from Mario, so I think they would be Impa from the Legend of Zelda, she'd be the first character who isn't an incarnation of Link, Zelda or Ganondorf, and I feel like she's done a lot, Bandana Waddle Dee from Kirby, he's pretty much become popular in his own right, and he could fill the slot for the unexpected character, like Piranha Plant last time, and Eevee from Pokemon, an iconic Gen. 1 Pokemon that I think would be a good fit. For unlockables, I'd choose the four from the original game, Luigi, Ness, Captain Falcon and Jigglypuff, plus the Octoling from Splatoon, I feel like that franchise is guaranteed a second rep. Plus I'd leave one slot open for a Pokemon from the newest generation, and one for the protagonist of the newest Fire Emblem game, since it feels like a Smash roster should always include those. The last unlock able would be a character from a classic Nintendo franchise that doesn't have a fighter yet, right now I'm split between Issac from Golden Sun and the Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven. For the DLC fighters, the first three would be iconic villains returning from past Smash games, Bowser, Mewtwo and King Dedede. And for the remainder, since Bandai Namco would likely be assisting again, I'd fill the slots with some of their characters, Pac-Man and Kazuya returning, and KOS-MOS from Xenosaga joining for the first time. So that's my roster for the next game.

Idk dude, having a 100+ character roster and NOT including every veteran at that point seems off. Cutting veterans like Puff and Ike would make sense if the roster qas like 40-50 characters, but if the roster is more than the amount of veterans in the series? Yeah that seems off.
Pretty solid roster. Although one thing I would change is Hector instead of Edelgard. Now that you removed Roy, a GBA rep would be cool and Hector is one of the best

That Clubhouse Ace pick is the most out of left field thing I’ve ever seen.
I think it’s totally fine for your 100 unique fighter roster to exist with echos stacked on top of that since they do not take up slots.
Ken is a great call of course, and I would add back the others too (except for Dark Samus because that moveset does not represent DS). I would throw in Jin because he could easily have Kazuya’s moveset.
I’d update Fox’s moveset by pulling from Adventures and Assault.

Only thing I really I would really nitpick is the exclusion of Jigglypuff you got the rest of original 12 but not her. But other then that.. Really like the inclusion of both Mallow AND Geno, The BOTW heroes, Lip, Takamaru, Isaac, Tinkaton, Crono, Sans..The whole The Fire Emblem thing.. This is a solid roster.

A pure "no logic, no 'what would Nintendo do" factor wishlist. Presented very nicely. Just a classic Pizza roster. Definitely agree with your overhauls to fire emblem. I haven't played a lot of the series but you definitely represent the spirit of the franchise better than the official thing here lol. My only "eh" would be that I think Impa is the only necessary addition to the Zelda cast, but I also don't dislike your idea of how to handle the main races (especially since you avoid botw era bloat through the alts lol). But yeah very fun video as always.
Edit: also I'm definitely someone who is weirded out by undertale and cuphead even getting a costume and music in smash, let alone a playable character, (guess how i feel about minecraft lol). I get WHY they're there, i even respect the first 2 as games on their own, but idk something about it feels... Disturbing whenever i remember they're in ultimate haha.

Just a blanket disclaimer beforehand that everything I say is ignoring that we’re past ultimate and if there’s another smash game it’s not going to be nearly as big or as out there with its characters, just a non time specific smash game
I think excluding echos is a bit silly, but I do have a different idea for them that you seem to share, just make them alts, if slots could contain multiple characters with slightly different characteristics then you could cram in quite a few more characters for minimal development time, which is always good, I’ll be bringing up examples as I go along
No Waluigi makes me sad, otherwise i think kamek is a good idea but I also have similar feelings about Ashley for Warioware and captain syrup for warioland/world, though I’m not dying to have them and I can agree kamek is the most important of them by a lot
I’ve always been behind the geno for smash hype due to his sheer popularity despite not having played his game but I’ve never known anything about mallow so even just being told he has more than healing shot my opinion of him for smash up significantly, though I don’t think 2 Mario rpg characters is necessary when there are 2 whole other Mario rpg series, I’d much rather geno and then someone like dimentio from super paper Mario or fawful from the Mario & Luigi games instead, particularly dimentio since I have a lot of nostalgia for super paper Mario and dimentio is one of my favorite Mario characters, though I understand the first 2 paper Mario’s are the best, most well liked ones so I can’t be mad about just doing paper Mario himself or some other notable character from those games
Dixie is the obvious choice for another dk rep but personal bias tells me funky Kong, and if they just make him a dk echo then you might could squeeze both in
I’d like to try to keep sheik cause they’re cool and pretty iconic to smash but I understand not being able to fit them
I’ve always not really known what to think about the 4 champions for smash cause all 4 seems excessive while only 1 or 2 would feel strange, but considering them as representations of the 4 non hylian races consistent throughout the series does a bit to convince me, my favorite picks are still things like skull kid and demise though (did people like demise? I never hear him requested I just know he’s important and looks cool), and i think I’d prefer a pre-botw impa design, I just think they look cooler
It would be nice to have toon link in too with his own moveset to represent that era of Zelda because of how big and different it was, and you could just solve that with multiple links in one slot
Dark Samus is only a “dark variant type character” in name, it’s only relation to Samus is copying her and it could represent the metroid prime games too, ravenbeak isn’t bad though
For some reason Takamaru being the only retro pick sakurai considered for melee that got considered again for a later game (smash 4) has stuck with me ever since I read about it on the unused characters page on the smash wiki
I really like captain Falcon and I just think it’s a no brainer to throw in black shadow with ganons old moveset, you could also slip blood Falcon in there if you wanted, I don’t know what differences he’d have but I know of a brawl mod called pm ex remix that pulled it off, I don’t care nearly as much for him though
Earthbound is obviously super dead by now but their possible reps are popular enough that I think you can get away with porky or the masked man, I especially like the idea of trying to work gigas in because he’s the biggest bad of most of the series and because of how creative it’d have to be given what he is, and obviously you could make multi-fighter slots since a lot of the main party members of different games are so similar, like a protagonist slot for ninten, ness, and Lucas, also please give them their actual movesets, ness especially is the exact opposite of what he is in earthbound
I don’t want to get rid of villager but Isabelle is so popular and is definitely pushed harder so she should at least be an alt for villager
For some reason even though I’ve never had much relation to golden sun at all I’ve always though Isaac for smash was neat, I played a few minutes of the beginning of the first golden sun a few years ago and that’s it, but I’d be happy for golden sun fans if he ever got in
I appreciate the bandana dee pick, he’s one of the only characters I truly consider “missing” from the game, but an obvious Kirby pick that I almost never see is dark matter, dedede hasn’t been a villain since the first game as most people know by now, so the dark matter species is the closest thing that Kirby has to a main villain, and with all the different bosses that have been part of dark matter so much of the series can be represented in one character and the moveset could be wild, I think Kirby can get away with 5 reps easy, going farther than that is starting to push it a little but if you did I’d say Marx next, I just like jesters a lot
I think I have to simmer on the club games guy for a bit before I form a strong opinion on him, I’m not fully convinced as of now but I do think it’s funny
Id be really happy for a rhythm heaven character to get in but I’d much rather the chorus kids over karate Joe, the best and really only route for a rhythm heaven character is to do a Mr. Game & watch and have the moves consist of stuff from different minigames and the chorus kids fit that so much better than Joe, also smash 4 nostalgia lol
Another set of obvious multi-fighter slots is team star fox and team star wolf, Andross seems like he should be more talked about but I don’t really know what I think of him, he’s the main villain of starfox but he’s so weird and has the size problem worse than Ridley, and people don’t seem to really care about him so i don’t know

I don’t know what to do about jigglypuff, she’s one of the og 12 and she’s super iconic to smash due to melee but she’s also jigglypuff and pokemon already has a hard time handling its massive cast in smash, I think I would like to try to keep her just out of legacy, and for hungrybox
I wasn’t sure on this at first but I think I like it pretty well now, if you’re gonna put meowth in you might as well give him Jessie and James too for a 3 person fighter, I know they’re anime originals but they’re so iconic to the series and the anime is such a big part of Pokémon that I have an easy time excusing it, and it would be funny
Pokemon is a hard series to work with cause of the sheer number of possible fighters so I don’t have as strong feelings on it but if I had to pick I’d say zoroark and meowscarada, zoroark because he’s my favorite Pokémon but also because he’s a fan favorite from a fan favorite generation that doesn’t have a rep yet and where none of the starters fit the best, and meowscarada because it was instantly one of my favorites on reveal and because it’s easily the most usable and popular starter from the latest gen and it’s grass like you said, tinkaton is great but I definitely prefer meowscarada both as a pokemon and a smash fighter, and hisuian zoroark is amazing but I’m a sucker for a more classic black and red edginess so I prefer the original, hisuian would be an easy alt though, and just cause you put in 3 new Pokémon reps we can stick sceptile/blaziken/grovyle for mystery dungeon in there too, I know gen 3 needs a rep, and johto too but idk what to do with them, Cinderace is also an easy gen 8 rep but I’m starting to push it on Pokémon
I think fire emblems giant cast is far easier to handle than Pokémon’s, it’s the main benefactor of the multi-fighter slot, just make roster slots for individual classes, the lord slot for most of the protagonists, the hero slot for people like Ike, a mage slot, maybe a villain slot if they’re similar enough, etc, then they could slap as many characters in there as they want
I haven’t played kid Icarus uprising yet so am I misinterpreting something cause I keep seeing viridi and Medusa requested and almost never hades, is he not the main villain? I love what I’ve seen of his character too, he sounds super fun and his design is sick so I’m definitely sticking with pit-palutena-hades until convinced otherwise
Ryu and Ken are good on their own but I would get hyped for akuma, I just think he’s cool
I think another megaman rep would be nice, it would definitely have to be zero
Metal gear rising Raiden would be sick as hell but I’m not disappointed if he’s not in since he’d be pretty out there
Eggman is also my choice for a second sonic rep but they could definitely get away with tails or shadow as well

I really like Chrono too I think Chrono trigger is a pretty cool game and I like his design a lot

I think the mii fighters are genius and I want them to stay but I would really love at least one mii character thats actually based on the games, mii sports, party, topia, tomodachi life, even Nintendo land, I have a lot of nostalgia for Nintendo land, just make their moveset wacky and all over the place and I’m sold, maybe even attempt custom moves with them again

I like most of the choices except for more game representation balance I'd swap out Mallow wit Paper Mario(still reps a Mario RPG but a different one) and Clubhouse President for Magolor(really weird pick, with a roster this size Kirby should have a modern rep)
Not a bad roster. Personally I enjoy echo fighters so my roster would keep some and even add new ones, but overall I don't see any bad choices here.

Clubhouse Pres is almost good enough that I could forgive the blatant disrespect for Animal Crossing and Splatoon, two franchises whose huge growth in the Switch generation has made them blatantly more deserving of second and even third characters than Star Fox or Kid Icarus. Almost.

Jokes aside really solid roster with a lot of cool additions. 100 characters is honestly a huge roster, and I'm glad you still trimmed some of the fat of ultimates roster to make each slot stand out instead of going full "everyone is here" mode and keeping a bunch of characters that many people honestly wouldn't miss.
That being said there are 2 cuts you made that I want to expand upon more, the Links. Now don't get me wrong, I love the champions from BotW, and would love to see them in smash, but I think it's hasty to just write off any other Links as boring clone characters because they have so much more potential than that. I don't know how much you know about Zelda lore, but basically there are 12 different incarnations of Link throughout the Zelda timeline, and each one has their own story, character traits, abilities and equipment. The 3 Links in ultimate are specifically representative of the Hero of the Wild, the Hero of Time and the Hero of Winds, the problem is they don't give any of them their unique stuff. Having those 3 could be way more interesting if you gave HotW sheika slate powers, champion abilities, and the paraglider, gave HoT masks from MM, the spells from OoT (I know Zelda already uses them but tbh she could use a moveset revamp herself). The HoW even has some unique stuff; the skull hammer, wind waker songs, maybe you could include the king of red lions or the phantom hourglass somehow. You don't need to use those 3 either, you could instead go with say, the Hero of Legend, who has so much stuff from the 4 games he's been in I don't even know where to start for listing them. I think this would be much better than just relegating them to alts because having a bunch of different Links on 1 character slot forces you to use things that are in all or most zelda games for their moveset rather than some of the more interesting one off things like masks or champion abilities.

For myself, I would like to see “Smash Link” be something of an amalgamation of “all Links.” Something where he has like… BotW’s Bow, like he currently does, Twilight Princess’s Gale Boomerang, and OoT’s Hookshot, all in one moveset. That way, the rest of the Zelda character line-up can be completely different characters.
I tried to present something similar for my idea with the Champions in this video, and I like how Zelda already in Smash is using both the spells from OoT as well as a Phantom from the DS games. That’s the kind of thing I’m going for. It’s also why I wanted to emphasize more drastic alternate costumes for Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf.
My oppinion on Sans in smash bros is that, yes he is iconic to Undertale but thats probably only because of the memes, if he did get an invite to smash he wouldnt actually accept it, heck he doesnt even check his mail, he is lazy and doesnt like to do jack shit, also another problem with that is that he adds absolutley nothing to the plot, if i were gonna add an Undertale rep, Id go Frisk.
