Andrew Zimmern Cooks: Pork Ribs with Sauerkraut

  • This hearty comfort food dish is the autumnal food you want to be eating this week. The sauerkraut is balanced by the apples and pork, giving it an irresistible sweet and sour vibe you’ll love. The key to tender ribs is to cook them slowly at a gentle simmer, if you boil them you’ll end up with tough meat. Serve with a side of boiled or mashed potatoes for a complete fall meal.

Very nice. Instead of pork ribs I add Kielbasa! Love fresh but will use smoked. I buy sauerkraut that has white wine in it . Love your ingredients! I grate the apple and carrot

Been eating this for years. Made with homemade kraut. Very German recipe. My German/Russian grandmother this just about every Sunday in the winter. Except she grated the apples. Most made with a pork roast.

I'd like to have this recipe adapted to crock pot, as that's what I normally use for spareribs & sauerkraut.

Looks great but you said never boil the meat but you brought it to a boil when you added the wine! And when do you add the kraut juice? With that said, I made it and it’s delicious, lol

Worst sauerkraut I ever had was cooked with apples. Leave out the apples and you will have an improved American dish.
