    One of the best or possibly the best discussion on Active Surveillance. I’m 3+4 PSA 6.5 and only 1 lesion so I am now starting to consider this vs surgery or radiation at least for now. HIFU may be considered also but maybe not for me do to location of the tumor.

    Thank you very much for this information. i really like the fact of no contrast and a coordinated schedule to follow with minimal invasion. This lowers my anxiety already. I am a 3+4=7 with a 5.3 PSA and this is very new to me. This has suddenly become very real and I am going to be extremely cautious about every step I take. I really appreciate this incredible education. Thanks again!

    Why not use PSMA PET scans instead of biopsies for a less invasive diagnostic tool?

      This is a very good question

      In Germany they use psma Pet scans

      The use of Psma & Pmri in combination needs to be put into practice for initial diagnosis when the PSA flag. gets tripped

      It's all about the cost to the insurance companies. The obvious (and best?) course of action would be an mpMRI combined with a PSMA Pet scan, but it's expensive. I think that any urologist/oncologist who suspected that he himself had pc would go this route, instead of having holes poked into his prostate....

    How about using Cleveland Clinics new IsoPSA blood test instead of biopsies for detection and surveillance?

    Please tell me if you have 10 out of 14 biopsy samples come back with Gleason 6 and a PSA ranging from between 5 and 7 in the last three years, are you then still a candidate for AS

    My husband has low grade prostate cancer, he only does PSA ever 6 months and MRI once every year. No biopsies which can cause ED or even spread the cancer via needle seeding, we are advised to leave it alone and don’t disturb the prostate or the cancer, but watch for any changes. He won’t die from prostate cancer. Doctors want to start poking and prodding into the prostate to make money, treatments make them more money than just to watch for changes.

      if your husband had no biopsies they how do you know he has gleason 6

    • @janetw9430
      @janetw9430 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @MyFrank71 by PSA desity. There are so many other test they can do such as PSA free. Research them.

    • @janetw9430

      @@MyFrank71 there are other tests, psa density, psa free, liquid biopsy, PSMA, MP on a 3T MRI, there is no need to puncture the prostate and disturb low grade cancer. Research the other lesser invasive tests for PC.

      I agree the psad is a simple calculation the only down side is getting a semi invasive test a twenty minute uncomfortable test gives the Dr the size of prostate he can also do velocity test 6:09 6:10 6:10 6:11 6:12 6:12 6:13 6:13

      WOW! That is incredibly scary! The part about making money! I am really going to be watching mine with incredible focus before doing anything like disturbing my prostate. thank you very much for your insights. My doctor told me that i will not die from prostate cancer also ! Yet she is recommending me thinking about prostate removal? NO! Or radiation and hormone therapy. I am a 3+4=7 with 5.3 PSA. It is an intermediate grade but i am going to go with watching for changes and try for HIFU. I am only 61 years old and this is very new to me. thanks again!
