That marlin wasn't stupid, like nah, something isnt right here. What a beautiful animal though, like an underwater jet
If they were watching while it was occurring, they probably could have made the lures dodge the marlin, baiting it into striking. The marlin was probably suspicious that the lures didn't react at all to its presence.
Then again, I don't know shit about fishing beyond catching croaker and catfish.
@@scottcantdance804 late reply but that’s basically what’s called teasers to lure in the marlin
😂
😂
He looked vexed
I thought it was so cool at 0:24 how the Marlin makes itself super aerodynamic by tucking in its fin's and then all of sudden when it wants to slow down it looks like a perfect triangle. Such an awesome animal, great shot also Dave.

Thats the word i was looking for, thank you. ^^
Notice how easy it is for the striped marlin to keep up? Those things are faster than a cheetah on coke that just stole a ferrari.
+Brandon Salt | no problem :)
+Kusti2801 beat me to it!....awesome video nonetheless...bravo!
Sometimes I wonder how lucky we are to be born as humans. Our great ancestors survived all the horrors and did all the hard works just to get us here where we are right now. Now I can stress about how I missed my leg day this week and not about losing my life constantly.
Our ancestors strugle to open milk cartons

Very well said brother

Exactly how I look when I approach a buffet tray that has everything I like.
No matter how many likes this gets, it’ll still be heavily underrated.
@Eddy Jin You never heard of a joke before? Of course you have, you do every time you look into a mirror.
What’s a buffet?
Wait what you go to buffets with preset food on them? That’s crazy I’ve never heard of that

who knew? Fish are quite smart.
Haha. Even he’s like “Brah... it’s 2020. There’s no way I’m taking that bait.”
I amazed at the ease that marlin keeps up with the boat and the deftness at which it swoops in and evaluations the situation.
The action of those teasers make them look like they are going fast through the water, but that boat is trolling at about 7 mph, typical speed for marlin trolling. That marlin is barely crawling compared to what hes really capable of. Marlin are capable of bursts up to 50 mph, and sailfish up to 70.
anyone else notice how the marlin kept trying to invoke a reaction from the bait, and when the lures didnt respond like normal fish, i think it came to the conclusion that it was a trap.?.
yeah, maybe.
Marlins like to smack the fish with their sword to injure it before grabbing them in their mouths. This guy smacked the bait a few times but they kept "Swimming" uninjured so he didn't eat the bait
Bit Duck69 imo the marlin did not try to smack the bait, but he did try to get a reaction out of them. ...by swimming so close, and with his little (albeit close) bill swishes, those bait just had no fear, so they had to be a trap.
glad to see the fish of our oceans are evolving, as well.😇
Now I know you're smart.
I doubt it because what you are seeing is a teaser. It is not meant to catch the fish only bring them in and get their attention until they find one of the lures above. The marlin breaks off at the end and focuses on the lures at the surface. It looks like it bit one. You can see at the very end of the video where the fish notices and then strikes the lure at the top. What's crazy is that each of the little fish you see in the video are actual dead fish that have had their spines removed and sown back together with a lead weight attached to their chins to get them to swim like that.
Marlin: “How are they swimming so fast all of a sudden? WTF?! “
:13 Marlin taps fish on the left to see if it was real.
:20 Marlin distances it self to make an intimidating maneuver.
:26 Makes his move to see if fish respond
:34 Bail out
It looked like he tapped a couple of them. Good observation.
Excellent interpretation of what went on there!
so happy that sentient being kept its life.

I like how the marlin just tucks its fin’s. Thats a awesome encounter honestly😂
I was kinda low key rooting for the Marlin to NOT bite.
Wow this is amazing. Probably one of the best clips I've seen taken by a gopro
Nurin Akmal agree.
Marlin is like: why aren't these fish dodging me around?
Something's fishy here... 🌚
that fish looks prehistoric. pretty cool.
Marlin- “So you think I’m stupid huh?”
If you watch the last couple seconds you see the marlin break away from the teaser and head to the surface and take one of the baits with a hook. What you see for most of the video is designed not for the marlin to attack, but to bring it in long enough for it to notice the lures above its head.
how can you kill something so majestic?..
wyo angel Meat is good
Mr. dota So is anti-freeze, go drink that instead.
I feel like Marlins are easily in the top 10 of coolest animals alive
All the world’s scientists and trillions of dollars in technology can not yet hold a candle to the speed, maneuverability, and intelligence of a simple fish with a brain the size of a peanut.
What an amazing fish! So fast and agile and so damn cool-looking!

It got up real close and was like "wtf somethings *fishy* here theyre not reacting to my beastly presence like they normally do Im out"
He was really studying those lures and successfully determined they were fake. He really took his time to turn it down. Pretty cool.
Wow it just effortlessly catches up and hangs out at high speeds like that so cool
They are just camera shy, Bless them!
Because the marlin didn’t lower his dorsal fin I would say.....

Smart fish. Its almost like the Marlin rushes the bait fish (lures) to make them scatter so that he/she can isolate one. They don't separate and he/she realizes that something is not right and refuses. Pretty cool to watch.
Marlin look angry
Such an awesome fish looks mean as hell!
How fast was it traveling, the Marlin wasn't even trying
seriously
Marlin is like “ dang, not even the little fish are scared of me...”

I was expecting something majestic but it turns out its just a bunch of hyperactive fish on lsd..
You missed the part where the marlin strikes the actual bait with the hook at the surface in the last instant of the video. The rest is a marlin investigating a teaser spread.

I ate a Marin fillet at a small cafe and it was one of the best tasting fish I’ve ever had
Best part of this is that the marlin survived.
Marlin didn't bite. He saw the GoPro and said "nah mate, this is a prank"
Crappy control, hard to get rare fish, p2w base gameplay
Realistic 3d texture tho..
6/10 overall rating
The very best part of this video? That the Marlin lives to see another day! #Majestic!

My subscriptions box = DESTROYED
Lol
You can see the marlin striking at the bait with its nose, trying to stun the fish then eat it. But it can't be stunned, of course, so the marlin never tries to bite at the bait. If you could devise a lure that would slow down when tapped, you might get more strikes.
So cool. That Marlin was smart 😆

That fish is smarter than you think, look how it circles the perimeter and wait those fish to change trajectory like they should, but nothing happened, it knew this was wrong.
the bill actually hit one of the baits at one point. i wonder if its possible to make an umbrella rig zig zag while being trolled?
" it's a thrraaaph...!"

The marlin’s lower tail fin has been damaged at some point. Notice how it is creased?
Oh yeah! Sweet observation
the days are not too far.... when you will be marlyn and someone will encounter you.... you are plying with nature..... god bless you... may be your kids will be marlyn
Damn that was intense. I was rooting for the lures. I am glad they’re ok.
That fish is a water weapon...so built for its habitat.
I was praying he wouldn't take the bait. I caught one once, it took three people to lift it, I regretted it ever since.

How dare you give me a 15 second ad for a 45 second video
this is awesome :D
The marlin doesn't bite because the bait is not acting normally. You see when the marlin swims up behind and just looks the baits over? The marlin is expecting the small fish to flee in all directions. When they don't the marlin knows something is not right.

+K 2 da π If you can't appreciate this amazing animal being filmed in this way then you should just move on. It's glory goes over your head. Go watch some call of duty shit if all you want is "action".
An encounter is an unexpected experience or meeting of something or someone. The camera/boat and people on it unexpectedly met a Marlin.
I did go too far with that last line, and for that I apologize, but this is clearly some pretty awesome footage of an amazing creature regardless of what was expected. It just seemed like you didn't appreciate it at all just because you misunderstood the title.
The prettiest fish ever along with the Hammerhead shark being another favorite of mine. Magnificent beauties of the ocean.
Scary how fast fish swim in water🙁😯😆
Ye, a little bend of their body and a flick of their tale and boom they are off 100 ml an hour against the current.
Every fisherman cried watching seeing the marlin go away without biting 😂😪
Incredible video! I love using my GoPro for some of the animal videos on my channel!
Looks like a cartoon. This is just amazing
0:14 to 0:17 He is trying to hit them with its beak. This is how they hunt. They hit fish out of balance and eats them.
_something's wrong, I can feel it_
Any reason for speeding it up to make it less interesting?
Fred Rechid this is normal speed
Marlin: "omg, omg, omg, so many I can't decide!!"
THAT MARLIN HAS BEEN HOOKED BEFORE!
It just effortlessly swims THAT fast.
Марлин : "как живой,но с*ка не живой"
LMAO thats so relatable xdddd nice joke
Who would’ve thought you could sneak an egg in there LOL😄😄😄
Going too fast. Marlin just wanted a quick selfie.🤣

That Marlin looked like that casual lux car driver that's impatiently trying to swerve around traffic but can't and ends up behind you anyway but is visibly distressed about it 😂😂😂

Precision Marksman Marlin couldn't hook the bait.. that blistering speed is something else though
Морда недовольная, видно из России плывёт.
Amazing footage. Love to see Marlin they’re so beautiful
Not a lot of people know this, but that marlin is my buddy Marley I taught him this technique
The thumbnail gif made me literally think this was just subnautica footage of like a mod that introduces the marlin.
Marlins like: Hmmm.... something’s fishy here 🧐
You know, when speed is an important part of a video, you should probably mention it somewhere
thankful to find live footage of this creature that isn't about fishing it
The marlin wasn't even trying it is in curiosity mode instead of hunting mode as you can see at 0.21, when it accelerates it can go much faster than the boat
marlin is like nah these fish arent running away they must not be fish im not falling for that
Millions of years of evolution just for the marlin to completely whiff the bait multiple times even though it traveling in a straight line
You COMPLETELY whiffed what is actually happening with this scenario. Arrogant human.
Amazing how fast these creatures are, even with damage to the caudal fin. Not dumb either, it was definitely knew something was up when the 'fish's didn't react to its presence.
Almost 1k comments and most everyone thinks the marlin got away. Here's my take:
At 0:34, the marlin breaks off from the teaser and appears to vanish. It turns away towards screen left and ascends to the surface before it goes out of view. Look just above and behind the fish at top center of the screen at 0:42 - the marlin's there, but just a shadow now just under the water's surface.
At 0:43, the frame before the "sumbit" screen pops up, there's a flash of white in that location. This is the marlin taking a swipe at a hooked trolling lure with its bill to "stun" it.
These anglers didn't miss the fish, they knew it was there when it took that swipe. Whether they successfully hooked it is still a mystery. Video ended too quickly :/
They are pretty impressive creatures! The cheetah of the ocean.
Marlin thought "damn why are these fish so fast"
Like an idiot , I tagged along on a marlin day fishing trip years ago here in Australia....still cant forgive myself for hooking up a 170kg Blue Marlin and taking 3 hours to bring it alongside the boat...only to release it ..both of us were exhausted.
Don't fish for Marlin...ever .
Oceanic creatures deserve respect and awe , not wholesale slaughter or the cruelty of "game fishing".
you released it, just like majority of marlin are, so whats the problem?
@@thebob3712, the problem is pretty obvious , the fish are totally played out and would , I assume , be easy prey for any predator for many hours after capture and release....not to mention whatever injuries are caused during the fight to land them. I know of many Marlin fishers who have inadvertently killed their catch when only doing tag and release.
Like I said , its just not right to cause so much trauma for bragging rights and a photo op.
Marlin was like "Nah something smells fishy here "
Just so everyone knows it’s a teaser (has no hooks) usually you pitch a bait with a hook to the marlin when you see it in the teaser.
*Marlin be like* : dang. this fish swim so fast
