    Hello Ian,
Thanks for taking the time to make this comparison video. Couple things to note however.
1 - you are using an OUL (open under load) version of our COBRA buckle in your video. This is noted by the 'not for fall protection' embossing seen on the male end. This particular version was designed for the US military for non PPE / fall protection applications where the buckle needed to unclip with minimal load force. For example, IED blast protection blankets and tie down straps. It is not sold for tactical belts, rigging, life safety application and so forth. That' is why (as seen at 4:01 in your video) the buckle releases when one clip is engaged as you displayed. Our regular PPE models NEVER do that and NEVER HAVE done that. This is an important safety feature of our PPE products and your so video is very misleading there. For additional clarity, no OEM belt manufactures or resellers use the OUL version you displayed.
2- COBRA buckles are both patent protected and trademarked in the USA. Purchase, sale, distribution or promotion of those knockoffs is a violation of US trade law. So, while some consumers may disregard this fact and still by cheap contraband items, it is illegal and only harms authentic businesses who put the effort into making great products which you can depend on. We think that's a valid reason for not buying this sort of junk also.
    Sincerely
    AustriAlpin Inc.

Wow, thank you for taking the time to correct me on all of this. I was aware of the external appearance differences and non-compatibility of my buckle to other models. But unaware of the extent and intentional design in this particular buckle.
This buckle was in fact from a gen 2 MAXPRO equipment bag that was damaged, hence how it ended up as a belt. Would you be able to clarify the importance of the OUL design and its differences with a standard model?
As for the fakes. They are everywhere. These airsoft and knockoff grade buckles are found just as commonly or more so than a genuine buckle due to price and marketing. 1/3 the cost and with a completed belt shipped from Amazon. A very tempting offer for the uninformed customer. They are absolute garbage and hope your company can enforce the patent harder.
I'm willing to make a much better video when I'm back in the states with accurate information.

Thanks Ian. The OUL models feature a unique shape/design on the end of the male 'nose'. It allows the release clips to move more freely when the buckle is actually under load force. They also feature the 'not for PPE' embossing. As for the fakes, yes, sadly you are correct. The popularity of our COBRA products has spawned all sorts of fake Asian junk and while we are very diligent to report these with Amazon IP departments (with success) these unethical vendors just pop up under new names or listings as quickly as we have them removed. Alas though, the Asian knockoff industry is a blight that won't go away so long as American / western consumers are willing to support them.

@@aaronhemphill8453 so for the the OUL design, is it meant to fail at certain force or meant to be easy to manipulate while holding large loads?

The chinese belt in the video isnt a knock-off. Cobra belts have DESIGN PATENT, not UTILITY PATENT. The chinese belt doesnt have the exact design as the cobra belt, hence it isnt illegal nor does it breach anything. The same concept applies to smartphones. They all look similar, but they arent considered knock-offs or illegal

I have both Cobra hardware belts and inexpensive Chinese belts, I have to say, I can't knock the Chinese stuff, because I used the belt to tow a car one night, and she still works as a belt. My Cobra Belt is a Blue Alpha Belt, which is a great belt indeed.

Same here i have a fulltang tactical and a cheap 8$ ebay no name and the ebay surprisingly is a good alternative belt when i don't feel like looping the belt through my equipment slots.

thank you for showing this critical error with knock-offs. Due to the applications in which i use a belt for applications you are demonstrating, i still prefer to use a full strength rigger's belt. You make a good point with the cheap belt buckle failure. great video, keep up the good work

I got mine from wish a year ago and it replaced my $45 EDC belt..just for the fact its alot more easier and faster to operate.. in the end it's a seatbelts that holds up ur pants and keeps your ccw secured.. as long as my sidecar and little timmy isnt flopping out I'm happy..
