"Moonerang until your fingers go numb" is indeed the best way to play. This game is amazing, it has the best music and most chill vibes I’ve seen in a game in a VERY long time. Probably the most enjoyable gaming experience I’ve had for a while.
Agreed
When you're getting your ass kicked, can only break two locks, but you moonarang like you mean it and either kill them, or greatly mess them up leading directly to you killing them
Laughs in Disorient -> Arcane Barrage -> The Great Eagle.
@@StarPlatinumSorridenteThe final boss never got a turn
It's a JRPG tale as old as time. Two main characters train for their whole lives go on an epic journey where they make friends, inadvertently help the villians enact their evil plans, and ultimately kill god. Then go have sandwiches to celebrate.
If you're not making things worse and killing gods, can you really say you went on an adventure?
@@andrewowens4421TRUTH
Also SOS is a fantastic game
Sandwiches you say? What kind of sammiches are we talking about here? 🤤
That about sums it up for me.
Calling this rpg a JRPG is like calling a regular musical a Bollywood film…. It’s not a Japanese game… the we’re Caucasian the developers made in Canada…
Moonerang, Sunball, Sandwich.
Moonerang, Sunball, Sandwich.
Moonerang, Sunball, Sandwich.
If your thumb didn't get numb during the Moonerang phase, then you're doing it wrong!
The knock on the door in the archives was one of the best written progressions Ive seen in JRPGs. This game had the most heart Ive seen in a videogame since Chrono Trigger, and I loved it.
I really think sabotage did an amazing job. I wish it was more popular
That was the one reveal in the story that I absolutely loved. There were so many others that seemed forced that I found myself not caring at all about the story by the end.
@@m00rc4t the one twist I really didn't like was Rash'an going away and leaving a puppet in his place. Felt really cold and unnecessary.
No it didn't.
It was honestly such a mind blowing moment that this whole time the "Archivist" has been talking to us, the gamer, that he's aware of multiple timelines and dimensions that aside talking to us, we discover he is also apart of the world the characters are in, when they approach him.
It's almost as if the real world is a dimension he's aware of and doesn't tell anyone in the game about.
So awesome to see this gem of a game get an Honest Trailer video! Shows that it's definitely worthwhile. I honestly hope they'll be able to pull through in the midst of the Unity controversy; that would genuinely hurt.
That won't affect them, fortunately.
@@alexseguin5245 Why? Both The Messenger and Sea of Stars were made in Unity
@@ASquared544 Unity backed down. The new fees can be substituted with a percentage of total sales, and it won't apply to projects made with Unity versions prior to the 2023 or 2024 version. In any case, the type of fee that Unity wanted to apply affects games with a business model of like that of The Messenger and Sea of Stars the least.
I never would've thought an Indie game like this would've gotten recognition like it has. I'm very happy that's the case lol this game was amazing. This along with Chained Echoes are probably my favorite of the genre.
It's actually nice that video games have become mainstream enough to have snobs. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to drive my Tesla into the local farmers market to get some organic kale to eat while I play a small indie game
I mean "PC master race" was coined to make fun of PC gaming elitism.
I thought about Erlina, and Brugaves motives. Both are extremely selfish, and narrow minded. Elrina just wanted power, and Brugaves even knew what he was doing was so bad he requested his memory being wiped so he didn't have to live with the guilt. They sacrificed/risked their entire world, and everyone they knew and loved for their own personal gains.
Yes, being born a Solstice Warrior can be seen as very unlucky. But it's not like people are ungrateful for your sacrifice, you get the impression that everyone really likes Solstice Warriors. And of course the alternative is THE WORLD IS DESTROYED AND EVERYONE DIES. So maybe get the hell over yourselves.
When I was at this point in the game, I got so mad at them because they are soooo stupid! It ruined the story for me and just played through the game to finish it so I can move on to play something else with an actual good and complete story.
I actually think it poses an interesting question that I wish the game had explored deeper. Just because you are born with a grand destiny, do you have a moral obligation to fulfil it? Yes, the alternative is awful, but they didn’t choose to be Solstice Warriors. They are essentially slaves to their destiny
@@alorravex6672 There is no deeper meaning to it. They clearly are not bound to anything. They can betray their "Destiny" just as easily as they did without any drawbacks other than being labeled as traitors. They could have just as easily ran away and lived happily in an island somewhere without causing literal armageddon.
@@JustAnotherRandomGamer That's the point. They couldn't have without scrutiny. The fleshmancer promised them their ideal lives. Not a discount and sad run away story. Is the world worth anything to you if all the world does is make you miserable?
@@ShinobiNerro13 What point? Again they have the freedom to do whatever they wish. They could have gotten the life they wanted in so many other ways yet they chose the worst option. They are simply two of the worst written characters out there. I would get it if the game showed they dont have any choice, but they do! 😆
Got to admit I didn't play alot of these style games in the past as I never had the patience for them, but now this game has literally hooked me just from it's charm alone
When Jirard from The Completionist gave it such support to the point of the devs putting him in the game, I knew it was going to be an absolute gem of a game.
Same
Oh this did not age well
@@ASquared544 Honestly I felt the same way. I even wondered if the devs would go so far as to rename the town building character.
@@Evanz111this also infact did not age well, they cut him out completely calling bob the builder if I remember correctly. (Not kidding)
@@shootout-shinobi6672 well yeah i'd cut him out too if he directly used me to draw in profits for his flimsy charity organization, only to keep said profits for a whole year.
It makes sure to check all the nostalgia boxes while still giving something enjoyable with a few new tweaks....also appreciate how the music in an area differes depending if it's day or night
Moonarang, Sunball, Sandwich is a PERFECT alternative title.
Game is a fricken gem. Don't pass it up.
You know, I liked this Honest Trailer a lot more than the typical ones I occasionally pop in for. The writers seemed to have a genuine love for Sea of Stars, which is why they did such a good job at making fun of it.
Gotta love those indie designs.
100% my game of the year. LOVED it soooo god damn much. i mean, hell I have a chrono trigger tattoo sooooo this was made for me.
I am about 10 hours into this game and I am loving it. Such a great game.
Week 40 of asking for a video on Celeste
Someone, PLEASE, give this man a honest Celeste review!
That's some dedication.
@blastingpew8349 well yeah, but they also made videos on Prince of Persia and Portal 2 not so long ago, which are way older games, so I don't think a video on a 2018 game is so far fetched
Isnt it just a stupid super meatboy clone. Kiiiiiidding
I know the pain. I've been asking for a Xenogears one for maybe a year now
I understand that turn based jrpgs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but even so I would encourage anyone to give this game a shot. Right off the gate you can tell that everyone had such a fun time working on it, and that charm, life, and love shows through the entire game. Everything from the music and sound effects to art and the battle system were enjoyable for every second of the hours upon hours I spent playing this game. If you haven’t played it yet, go and try it! I’m sure it will be worth your while :)
Moonerang, sunball, sandwich
While 3D Open World games are great and all, modern pixelated adventures like this, Octopath Traveler, Celeste, and Stardew Valley are ALWAYS a charming delight.
Please say: “No more spells, they’re like dangerous”
I honestly thought I'd finished it last night and apparently it wasn't the true ending. As soon as I got up this morning, I had to get it. And wow! It's up there for my GOTY. The nostalgia hits just right, music is incredible and the fact I had a boss battle last an hour! An hour! Not had a game do that in years. It was the true ending boss. Seriously folks. Get this game played!
Ooh. I’m working for the true ending right now, and I’m excited
Oh cool, my comment was picked! And again, thank you for giving this game the spotlight it deserves!
was glued to it for a week straight since lunch and it was wonfderful, fully completed it too
Nice. I have all achievements bar the beat 10 bosses with the relic active. Will new game plus it shortly
Do Honest Trailers for the Simcity/Cities Skylines games, Dwarf Fortress and Hyperdimension Neptunia!
Please do an Honest Game Trailer for Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time
Squaresoft needs to make more JRPG games like that.
The boomerang spell is crazy useful, for sure.
But it can be more fun to throw bombs made of pressure cookers, or team up with your teleporting ninja friend to dual strike everyone, or...
5 weeks until Alan Wake 2 launches, and still no Alan Wake honest trailer, which is honestly a real shame that there's not much love for Alan Wake here.
Time for one?
Cya next week!
Since they said "a few more weeks for Starfield", there's at least two more games that are going to be done between this and Starfield. Serious guess for the rest of the year, though?
September 26: Mortal Kombat 1 (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment: 21)
October 3: Payday 3 (Embracer: 10)
October 10: Starfield (Microsoft: 17)
October 17: Detective Pikachu Returns (Nintendo: 74)
October 24: Alan Wake (Microsoft: 18, Epic Games Publishing: 3)
October 31: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Nintendo: 75)
November 7: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (Sony: 30)
November 14: Alan Wake II (Epic Games Publishing: 4)
November 21: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (Activision: 27)
November 28: Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (Sega: 13)
December 5: Super Mario RPG (Nintendo: 76)
December 12: Persona 5 Tactica (Sega: 14)
December 19: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (Square-Enix: 32)
December 26: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (Ubisoft: 20)
You can feel that this game have more heart, love and passion in the crafting of one chapter than most AAA nowdays have in the whole story and paid dlcs together.
DO STARFIELD, DO IT NOW!!!!! (In my best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression)
Do a Honest Trailer for Hyperdimension Neptunia
+
Garl is a real bro!
Hadn't known of this title until Ryu's stream popped up. Looked like a fantastic dose of nostalgic goodness.
are you winning, sun? hit me completely unprepared
Re'shan as glowup Vivi cracks me up 🤣
Just finished the game and my God was it a masterpiece! It had me crying the entire time especially anything to do with Garl! He's the best character and my favorite! 10 out of 10! Flawless game! Here's hoping it wins something at the Game Awards this year!
Just finished the game. What a wonderful experiences it is. Truly one of does games where you will reminisce playing them in the future. Thank you to the developers and all the people involved making this game possible.
Honest Trailer for Chained Echoes please and thank you!
These games reminded me so much of one another. What an excellent game that was too!
“I’m just trying to get back to the campfire as soon as possible” lol. So true.
Never knew I needed to hear epic voice guy say “Main system activating combat mode
“
Great review! It would be fantastic to get a honest trailer for Vermintide 2, Sigmar bless :)
Please say, "The endless potential for catastrophe also means endless potential for wonder and beauty."
-Aphotic Reflector (Death and Taxes)
This game is a gem! Also loving all the references to The Messenger, even boss fight
meanwhile Square Enix forgets how to turn-based battles, it is a lost art.
???? Octopath and Bravely are two of the best modern turn based battle systems, what are you on about?
Bravely Default is easily one of the best turn-based RPGs I’ve ever played. Bravely Second was pretty good too
Just like Diecast construction (Transformers joke)
@@TheCritizensome people are raging that some franchise are refreshing the gameplay once in awhile (khm, Final fantasy, khm) by going away from turn based combat after 10+ installments each with a unique twist for the system... Meanwhile Like a dragon/Yakuza is being criticised for going turn based, for the same reason.
People are simply afraid of changes, even though it is a part of life...
@@serhii_himself dunno. If you sell me a pirates of the Caribbean movie I expect jack sparrow not Yondu, even if I like both. It’s fine to expect a franchise to keep its core gameplay.
Doesn’t mean SE forgot though. They can still make an amazing turn based system and still do, just not in Final Fantasy.
Gotta do Dwarf Fortress soon...
Do the Honest Game Trailer for MythForce!
This game is such a delight man. so so good. that demo sold me
Do an Honest Game Trailer for Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
next to do the legend of heroes series!!!(or cut it to 4 pieces trails in the sky 1-3 ,trails into azure and trails into zero , trails of cold steel and finally trails in the black and trails in the black 2: crimson sin.
35 hours and loved it
Give me the chills with the line "Welcome to PlayPaintChill. You just gained honor +2 for following us ! ".
Man I love this game.
Now do Chained Echoes!!
I'd like to see an HGT for RimWorld. It's been a top-ten Steam game for, what, five years running?
the nicknames killed me. and they kept getting better as well!!
Please do Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: the Presequel honest game trailers!!!!!!!!!!!
I recall reading an article about this game when it was in development and how it was being compared to Chrono trigger siris, especially the SNES version. Most definitely going to have to get this game right here Indubitably 🧐
Have you done Another eden honest trailer or I just cant find the video?
Any chance you could do an Honest Trailer for the Octodad games?
This honestly might be the game of the year for me, which is wild because tears of the kingdom came out this year. Everything just felt beautifully executed and so much fun. Also moonerang and sunball are great but that Soonarang FUCKS
try the flame pillar level 3 combo with Vivi and Sunboy. That things melts and is the easiest "skillshot" ever against large single targets (meaning 95% of bosses)
@@cldptConflagrate! It’s an awesome move, I love how you control the pillar of fire
Def my goty not close.
SOONERANG IS BUSTED AND I LOVE IT
@@adamfowler3680THAT ONES ALSO BUSTED XD
Please do an honest trailer for the Sly Cooper series.
Awesome! Lies of P next please
Hearing all this talk about “Moonerang, Sunball, Sandwich” makes me really glad I played with Tactician’s Mettle on. It forces you to strategize a lot more than the normal mode seems to do, and has made for a satisfyingly challenging experience for me.
the game didn't have tactician mettle on release, it got added around december. It's a shame, since apparently that's the initial intended design for the game but it got dialed back to make it easier for general players. The relic should've been there since day one
@@shrunker684 Despite the media reviews, a big complaint of the game was basically this joke that you can faceroll the keyboard and win. They likely made the decision to release Tactician's Mettle so that anyone buying the game now can opt out of easy mode.
I love the artsyle
This game is awesome and everyone should try it. As multiple people stated here you can see that everyone that worked on this game loves videogames as much as we do. The art is amazing, the music is SO catchy and I'm sure that you're going to fall in love with the characters, it's impossible not to! The story has it's downfalls here and there, but the overall experience is not affected by it. I really hope that Sea of Stars gets the recognition it deserves. Big companies are not able to do what Sabotage did.
Just love the game reviews this year. The end.
It's pretty niche, but an Honest Game Trailer for Mechanicus would be awesome. Mostly because of how awesome the music and atmosphere were.
Ok, but can we please have an honest trailer for FNAF: Security Breach Ruin?
Dread it, run from it, it is your fate to make Honest Trailers for FNAF
(Not really, but it's fun to think it is)
I appreciate the we needed more time for starfield
I remember finishing The Messenger and telling myself "damn, this studio LOVES videogame, I can't wait for them to launch another one, I'll gladly give them my money".
Long story short, I payed it day one and I'm about to get the SPOILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER true ending
Spoiler warning if you havent like fully completed the game(all conches/endings/champions/whatever else)...........
I love the fact that You can meet the shopkeep from the messenger
Rusty and Garl have the same energy in two different worlds.
I need to pick up this game at some point.
I suggest making a neolithic world explorer where you get Alphabet by interacting with others, and words from that alphabet by experiencing new things.
oh boy, can't wait for starfield
That's literally Ultra Jump from Super Mario RPG.
Do Asura's Wrath!
My dog would like you to say "Jason, it's bonio time"
Did you guys ever do one about chess?
Legend Of Dragoon needs a Honest Trailer
An Honest Trailer for Super Robot Wars 30, please
Damn now you gotta do Chained Echoes next please 🙏🏽
Anyone else waiting for that Ace Combat trailer?
Now your killing with portals was right there.
I think you could have a lot of fun with Battle Chasers.
Do Starfield!
Do Wandering Sword Next!
Could you say “There’s a lady in my head who calls me studmuffin” in the epic voice?
Say, "I sneak around your house at night. I scratch on your furniture, break your dishes, leave hair on your carpet. I am.... your cat!"
2 things.
1. Erlina and Brugaves do not have a good point. They're shitty, selfish people. If they wanted to quit being Solstice Warriors, all the had to do was go live somewhere else. They absolutely did not need to betray their friends and resurrect a horrific monster, thereby being directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people.
2. How dare you call Teaks' stories boring! They're metal as hell.
I never seen an indie game came to honest trailer so fast
The art, music and gameplay was so great. I got 64 hours in and still want to play!
64 hours… I platniumed and fully complete the game in 40 😅😅
Okay it wasn't a competition. I was just making a statement@@sweaterz101
Do Satisfactory next!! That would be interesting.
Is this game available on physical copy?
Freedom Planet honest trailer, please! 😊
Please do an Honest Trailer for Mortal Kombat 1
"You burned the bread Garl, you burned it"
Ayy y'all listened to my comment! Many thanks.
Honest trailer of SOMA please!!!!
Do the Honest Game Trailer for Lies of P!
Do an honest Trails for Trails in the Sky trilogy.
