I'm preparing to perform this song for a dying friend. It was one of the very first songs I learned to sing and play guitar with. He introduced the song to me a little over fifty years ago, and I could never get it out of my head after that. I'm giving it back to him for the trip home. May this simple gift carry you there. Travel well, my dear friend, George Martinez.

April 17th for me. Exactly 3 months from my birthday. I'll be 68. I always loved America. And their songs that I listened to before this one were Tin Man and Ventura Highway. They brought back so many wonderful memories. For a reason that I can't explain, Ventura Highway is my favorite.

Side note: my mom used to play this song all the time in our car rides when I was a child. I’m 32 this year and she’s approaching 70 as well. Time sure does fly. Follow your dreams and don’t let self doubt prevent that fellas. Regrets are anchors that stay with you.
