Eurovision.tv goes back in time. We start in 2004.
Lena Philipsson represented Sweden at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with the song It Hurts. She came in 5th place with 170 points. - Zábava
Lena is beautiful, her voice is great, her confidence on stage, the flirt in her eyes, the whole performance.... Major... major crush on her in 2004... :)
One of the best examples of traditional, classical SwedPop :)
Sweden has sent so many great songs to Eurovision in the past 20 years or so and this is one of the best of them.
the song is so much better in swedish
Here is a version for the swedish, and yes it is better!!
Didrik Gustafsson i think Chinese version may be better
Håller fullständigt med. Man inbillade sig väl att folk bryr sig om texten men Lena får inte rätt "feeling" på engelska tycker jag
@@ntcn7609 Which Chinese version?
@@simonrodgers8902 'Slow Life' by Jolin Tsai.
She really enjoys being on stage.
It's creepy

Lena Philipsson raised this song to her level. Great live performance.
She is so funny you almost forget how amazing she sings. Love from DK
She will tour with Per Gessle next year! :D Keeping the Roxette legacy alive.
I totally understand about per keeping the roxette legacy alive, I have been a roxette fan since the very start of them being known in the UK and saw them in 1991 wembley with support glass tiger
I saw them in 2011 with Darren Hayes support and I saw the last performance in 2015 at O2 being only 5 rows from the stage... Marie was a wonderful performer live and showed so much fighting spirit, with her and pelle the drummer passed away it's never ever going to be roxette as we all knew it.
I wish all the very best but sadly this is not going to be my new roxette.
@@Anthony-gi7zz Sure, it's not the Roxette we know and I also miss Marie and Pelle. But Per's project is the same as Queen and Adam Lambert. It's not the original, it's just about celebrating the music. I will be there for it.
Yes, it's going to be different w/out the fab duo but it might be interesting to see how they do. I wish I could've seen Darren Hayes. Have been a fan of his since the 90's when he and Daniel Jones were together in savage Garden.
I've also loved savage garden... Their music reminds me of roxette...Darren Hayes was totally unexpected in 2011 and only knew when in a piece of paper on a stansion in wembley it stated support Darren Hayes... It was like my 2 favourite groups in one night... Darren Hayes was brilliant and I was so lucky to be their...
Im sort of glad and sad I attended the last UK concert In 2015 at the O2......good to see them again but she was ill but so brave to sit and sing.... Sad to see her as I remember her back in 1991 and 2011..... But glad I got to see them one last time.
how can you not like this entry? its amazing. the song is so catchy and fun. its a real classic in sweden.. if you dont like this entry check out her national entries in melodifestivalen 1986,87,88 they are even better.
When I was younger (I was seven in 2004) I quite liked this song. But as I've grown up, my tastes in music have changed - which is how I think it is for a lot of people, so therefore we don't like the song [anymore].
I love "Kärleken är evig", true winner of MF
mr J yes this is Abbayish. Or Aceofbasish which is 90s Abba. Too bad that they have never been in Eurovision and never sang Abba songs.
it's too derivative...sounds like too many other songs. Sweden needs to take more risks!!
The song is catchy on record but not sung very well live.
I still love this great masterpiece and it should have won the eurovision song contest
One of my all time favourites, and I have a lot of favourites!!! I've been
Such a classic! Sweden is the best country in ESC for a reason.
One of Sweden's best entries to Eurovision of all time.
Are you out of your mind?
Yes.
We need eurovision like this again
The PPPHillow pronunciation cracks me up every time XD
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT TOP CLASSIC ENGLISH/SWEDEN!!!!
Amazing this song translated this well into English. It won in Sweden thanks to Lena herself, and her personality. She is known for her quirkiness. The song was created around her and for her. Those can be hard to translate and keep the feeling. But thankfully Europe got it
I watched this age 9 at home hoping it would win - then I discovered all her other music and I love it !!!
It hurts, but it seems to hurt happily.
That's quite a good way to sum up Swedish pop and what it's all about

I love this songs and it should have won the Eurovision song contest and who is listening to it in 2019
Me 😂
@@user-gd3qk3fu2g ok that is good to hear
You say that in every video lmao
Am here 2021! :D Det gör ont!
@@thereset1735 that is so nice to read
This song is amazing!
The best song in 2004
Love this song! Should have won!❤❤❤❤❤
This song was first sung in swedish ‘’ det gör ont’’ then performed in English as ‘’ it hurts’’ at the Eurovision song contest 2004 -off course the year I was born😂
I like it. It's catchy and it has an air of melancholy about it that makes it really likable.
She is so fucking gorgeous😍
Very nice. Never heard this song before. Another catchy Eurovision song.
Right Its a classic in Sweden and it sounds so mutch better in Swedish you can search 4 Lena Philipsson det gör ont if you wanna hear how it sounds in Swedish.
I ❤ Lena!
I really like this song, above all the refrain. Sweden often does great at the ESC and should have won by far that year, even though the Swedish version is even better.
This song js amazing! It is a masterpiece.
U think this is better than wild dances?
@@NoNo-ly5kf More in my tastes, for sure.
@@leclercqthibaut5288 I didn’t expect u to reply that quickly when ur original comment was from 9 years ago 👏👏
When she repeats "it hurts" , it kinda sounds silly.
Amazing song from Sweden, haven't listened in Swedish but it's quite good in English.
I remember this ESC - Lena was definitely a fresh wind. Still love her an the entry but in Swedish (original) a better one.
She was 40 years old at this performance and still so extremely thin, almost impossible to stay thin after early 20's nowdays XD
"Prima la musica, poi le parole", as the old Italians said: First the music, then the lyrics. Even though the lyrics are sad, the music is happy and upbeat, which no doubt accounts for her happy attitude and dancing.
In bad times there is hope for good times!
Wow. I'm just now discovering her. I think per gessle made a good choice to sing with him even tho no one will come close to the original. Lookin forward to hearing more of these two together
Sweden, making the best pop as always ❤
Très belle interprète Suédoise ❤❤❤ bonne chanson
A great song...
Best ESC performance ever! 🙌🏻
Love this
Prachtig nummer , steengoede stem , mooie vrouw , had eigenlijk een wereld nummer moeten zijn , still loved
Volledig mee akkoord.
Ótima performance
All I know is that I love the English version!😂🎉❤😅😊
I love .. This songs its god ..
Super chanson et trés trés belle jeune femme

Very nice voice. Good luck Lena with Roxette.
*It Hurts*
Lyrics:
Nobody but me
could know the way I feel
I'm standing on the rooftop
And I'm crying out your name
I'm looking for an answer
And for somebody to blame
'Cause even though it's over
You linger on my mind, oh
Hurts, oh it hurts, really hurts
In the middle of the night
In the light of the day
You know that it hurts
Oh it hurts, really hurts
And I wish I could be stronger
No longer afraid
Nobody but me
could know the way I feel
Oh it hurts, oh it hurts
I'm trying to forget love
The pain I feel inside
I'm clinging to my pillow
And the tears I cannot hide
I wish it could be over
So I can start anew, oh
Hurts, oh it hurts, really hurts
In the middle of the night
In the light of the day
You know that it hurts
Oh it hurts, really hurts
And I wish I could be stronger
No longer afraid
Nobody but me
could know the way I feel
Oh it hurts, oh
Not easy to remember
And even harder to forget
Whenever I surrender (whenever I surrender)
Oh, you're always on my mind
(Hurts, oh it hurts, really hurts)
In the middle of the night
In the light of the day
You know that it hurts
Oh it hurts, really hurts
And I wish I could be stronger
No longer afraid
Nobody but me, could know the wаy I feel
Oh it hurts, ooh it hurts
I wish I could be stronger
Oh, but it hurtѕ
I wonder how the song would have finished if they had opted for the original version used in Melodifestivalen. I love the sound of the Swedish language. It's music in itself. 🙂
Lena and Agnetha Fältskog is the sexiest Swedish singer ever!
i think her performence is extraordinary
People, she is a goofball in Sweden. She often has a humoristic but professional approach to her singing. The song reeks with cynism, don't you see it? :P
Anyway, I KNEW her sense of humour wouldn't be understood by the broad public in the ESC. There were other entries in our national contest that would have been better candidates to represent us in ESC than Lena PH. Too bad.
so you prefer After Dark? Well, I also like After Dark but not as much as Lena
Well, she finished 5th, so I'd say it wasn't too misunderstood.
Lena was very much appreciated indeed. Shame she didn't win. Considering she has been making music since the 80s, I'm quite sure she knows her stuff and she'd be hard to beat.
what are u talkin bout? this is brilliant, the most interesting n intriguing entry sweden has sent this millennium
It hurts ❤❤👌👌
this song is amazing in swedish but she still did great :)
Sup robotboy how you doing 8 years later?
SUPER)))
My Winner from Spain :3
I whish it`s
the true and nothing else ,any else!
🥰🥰💥💥💯💯💯 !!!
Early 2000s fashion was just the pits
George Austin Tay this outfit doesn't look that bad, there were a lot of worse
wogule nie nice nickname xddd and yes, Romania was atrocious
I'm from sweden and ashamed of her outfit but proud of her performace and conviction! The outfit she wore in the rehearsal was so pretty......why haha
It seems like a love song of a vampire...
No, it doesn't.
😅I have listen to the 2 version in swedish and english,in my opinion it sounds better in swedish but I don't understand it so have to listen in english.
That song is written for her, great voice, beautiful lady and she knows how use the stage, sensual act but with CLASS not filty.shame she didn't win,for me number 1,these days the gimmicks are more important than the music.greetings from belgium🇧🇪🇧🇪
❤️❤️😍😍😍❤️❤️
Swedish version is much better if she sang in Swedish maybe a winner. Lena is great that album in 2004 including this song was 5 star. She deserved also to represent Sweden in the late 80s. Back then was more conservative on the stage, maybe if she was the same now would win because audience would focus on the excellent song and her voice than her style and pinky appearance
This song should have been out of the final top 10
Και εξω απ'τον τελικο μη σου πω
This was me when I got my grades for 2021-22 fall
SOUNDS LIKE ABBA!!
It hurts
It was a guess by looking at your video clips/play lists.
I understand perfectly fine what you mean. You want every song to be a 101 song and fit into the same box, have the same print. I'm more liberal than you and I can appreciate different ways to express sadness(or whatever the feeling may be).
4 place!
ouf!!!!
I prefer that original Swedish version It's so much sexier.
Like others have said; the Swedish version is much, much better. Translating this song is a hopeless task. There are nuances in the language and in the sound of the words that will inevitably get lost. And her performance that some think are too happy considering the subject, isn't a problem in the Swedish version because of some of these aspects. And her performance in the Swedish version also is a bit different, more equivocal so to speak. It's easier to express yourself correctly while singing in your native language. In a foreign language, the performance easily loses some of its naturalness. But still, I think they did the right thing to do it in English. Singing it in Swedish to the international audience wouldn't have made any sense.
Me after the cancellation of Eurovision 2020
How did this not win??
Couldn’t agree more ! It was the best song that year and why not the best song from Sweden 🇸🇪!
Love 💕 from Lebanon 🇱🇧
Because Serbia&Montenegro and Ukraine were by far the best in 2004
La saison est bien pour une récente
I know schlager is life in Sweden at that time but I think a different song would fit her instead. Maybe with some guitars because it fits her voice.
She looks like Linda Bengtzing
The new Roxette singer 😍
I haven't heard this song in English. It sounds weird x)
HOW ON EARTH noone states that this sounds exactly like Maria Montell's-And so the story goes??? The refrain is basically the same song ....
6th place for this aint bad...
Actually in Top Five, 5th place :) EBU changed the scoreboard because Lena had more 12 points then Cyprus
It finished joint 5th with Cyprus
This song absolutely sucks from a song's perspective, but I absolutely love it!
Andrea Berg of Sweden!
Вуххх,
Дива, голос яркий, без усилий, слушать нравится, единственное цвет волос светлее бы.
Секси, манкая, любоваться и ещё новых песен!!!!
In swedish - så jävla ont! :)
whoops kiri whoops...
That may well be, but that's a completely different story. What I wrote above merely explains why this song doesn't necessarily have to be about what you call "an anal adventure". That was my point, not whether the song was good or bad.
Típica Sweden
sexy
פעם היה אירוויזיון 😢
But she is not acting... she is not supposed to look sad, so how can her acting be bad if she's not even supposed to be doing something that you think she should? :P
I'm not saying a winner needs to involve humor, I'm just saying that you and probably a lot of people don't understand the humor behind Lena's performance and it's hard to explain :)
In Swedish- "Det gör ont"
Not bad
:DD
“i am trying to forget love the pain I feel inside I am clinging to my pillow and the tears I cannot hide I wish it could be over so I can start a new hurts really hurts in the middle of the night in the light of the day and I wish I could be stronger no longer afraid “ why does it sound a bit offensive to me?😂😂😂 way better Swedish version
Whoops kiri whoops kiri whoops
蔡依林愈慢愈美丽的英文版本。👍😍💪😂
5-6 место
why not 2003?
