What CarMax Told ME about RECARO Seats

I worked for Keiper Recaro years ago, and ran the plant test lab. I saw the innards of many automotive seats. What counts to begin with is the frame. I did a static rearward test to failure, and the seat didn't break or bend. The seat tracks failed. If CarMax tries to copy a Recaro, it would make no sense, since they need that frame. Remember that at dealerships, if they don't have what you want, they try to sell what they've got.
The Focus ST Recaros (And Fiesta ST recaros) are the exact same seat, and even use the same seat base. What many ST owners have done is pull the cloth foam out, put in the Recaro foam and leather bits (From say a wrecked ST) and everything looks perfect. Probably what the CarMax people would have done.
Rofl I was at carmax the other day for my brother in law and they also pushed the custom leather seats. It was somewhat annoying.

I wax my whole car but lately I haven't been doing it all at once. Like I said in this video I just do it in sections. So over the period of a month my entire car will be waxed but i just break up the job that's all.

Theres a focus st for sale in my area with ST1 seats that are full leather and power. Imagine the exact same thing as ST1 seats but with no logos whatsoever, just black vinyl/leather. They look cheap and I immediately knew they didn't belong in the car
What did they tell you about Recaro seats?
Basically what she was trying to do is get you to purchase the leather accessory its super easy in carmax inventory to find a focus st with those seats lol. they have like 70k vehicles
That's a first I've heard of waxing a car in parts over weeks lol. To each his own but that's like washing your left leg one day and your right the other.
Loving the videos. I'm a month into owning my 2017 ST and of course, I'm starting to look at mods. Debating between a few different brands for intake and tune. Any thoughts on brands for warranty reasons?

Only problem with the MAVIC is that DJI is constantly forcing updates which cause more problems than they fix
With my 2 other cars my budget wouldn't allow for anything other than an ST1 but I'm not complaining, minus Sirius radio and seats I wasn't interested in anything else the other trims had. Trying to piece together my own leather set though. Got rear ST2 seats for $125 still on the lookout for fronts. A good alternative if you don't need/want any other features

How hard is it to keep Kona blue clean?
It's pretty hard for me because of the dust in the desert plus I have no garage. If I had a garage it would be a different story. It's a great color though so it's worth it to me.

TheMasterMind it's painfully difficult to keep clean. It is, however, absolutely gorgeous when it is clean...I've had my Kona Blue ST1 for about a year.
Carmax is NOT a good place to take your car for a fair value. Their offers are usually below low trade in value in fair to poor condition. Never sell a car to them unless you are in desperate need of money. It has been 20 years since I sold cars for a main job, ignorant sales reps have always annoyed the hell out of me.
Our ST1 here come standard with Recaro seats but without leather. It's much easier then to just wrap them with leather

Yeah, salesmen are ridiculous. I love how the Recaro seats look, but unfortunately I'm not of slender stature and they are not comfortable for me, so I had to go with the ST1 and the cloth seats, which I might add are actually fairly comfortable. I did however hear a story that you can actually mod the recaro seats to widen the bolsters... but it involves a lot of work.

I think I'm about as big as you can go with them. I'm 104 kilo.

I work at Ford, and honestly Recaro doesn't do much at all. the Recaro seat frames are exactly the same as the base seats with an extra metal bolster support welded on and obviously the larger bolster but it is the same foam material. Recaro is not an independent company anymore, It's owned by Johnson Controls, who makes seats and tons of other parts for many OEMs. All that being said I have the Recaro's in my car too, but there is nothing special about them compared to other bucket seats.
Trevor Nichols I worker at Recaro for 4 years. You're Mostly correct. But there is also also some structural ad in to the frame and foam. I am intimately familiar;)
Trevor Nichols since you work at Ford can you answer a question for me. I recently got a 2018 Mustang GT 10 speed performance pack with the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen but leather recaro seats. It was the only premium Mustang GT at my dealership and they made a great deal on the car for me. I am kind of considering swapping out my Recaro seats for the premium leather seats. Can I actually swap my recaros for the heated and cooled Ford seats? I imagine it may not be possible because there is an extra button for cooling and heating the seats
Retro Gamer I don’t work at Ford, but as far as I know in most cars if they don’t come with heated or cooled seats, it’s not something you can just “swap in” that’s just from what I know about though so I may be wrong. I would look it up or maybe check some forums.
@@gavinmaxwell7950 its all good, I sold it and bought a premium with the regular cooled and heated seats. That is how bad the Recaro seats are for daily commutes, I sold the car!
I ordered a replacement performance pack with a spoiler delete so I don't have to look at that ugly wing anymore either!

personally I think y ou u should upgrade your car. 1 cuz it's YOUR money so spend it on YOUR car 2 don't spend it on something for someone else, don't get the drone for us get the car part for YOU 3 if you upgrade your car you are still bringing content to your channel which is what we want so you are good. new part new content 2 birds 1 stone

Not just from my experience in buying from dealerships, but also because I've worked at a few dealerships, I can tell you that there is an unbelievable amount of straight up BS that comes out of a sales persons mouth to get you to buy. Some of the BS they spew is actually illegal to say. That person you spoke to heard you say you wanted leather and she heard nothing else, what a lot of dealers do when a potential customer wants leather is they get a leather kit from a company like katskinz, remove the cloth covers and install the leather covers it's very easy to do but it looks horrible. As for the molds she was talking about to make the seats better than recaros, total BS.
If you suspect BS from a sales person, don't be afraid to call them out on it. And if you're are absolutely sure it's BS you're hearing, make a big deal about it and use it to get a good price. Always go in knowing exactly what you want and have as much infoas possible about what you want.

Buy upgrades. The follow mode on the Mavic isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's good, but it wont follow your car through the mountains. I don't use mine much, cause it gets boring. Your car makes the channel, worry about it first. As a fellow Focus ST owner I want to see mooooooore!

I'm biased, I work for RECARO, but I owned a Evo X, and they were the best thing about that car quality wise. My 10' Mazdaspeed doesn't, but those seats are almost as nice, not anyway better, but, I won't be replacing them anytime soon.

RGBGFIVE oh OK, I forgot that you have different model in US. In France with have only one model and the recaro's seat has not an option. All stock version have this seat.

The "recaro" seats in your $20,000 hot hatch are nothing special, just an FYI. I could think of numerous custom interior shops that will build a much higher quality seat than what you'll find in a focus. Now if you had an actual $3500-5000 recaro seat in your car then you'd have a point, but a mass produced seat for an economy car shouldn't be put on a pedestal lol.

First off, it's hardly an economy car. And moreover, he didn't say the Recaros in the FoST are top of the line, but rather that Recaros in general have the best reputation across their entire product line.
