- For designer Jamie Drake, the role of materials in a space is never solely about practical function, but rather it's about harkening back to other times, places, and cultures. To Drake, of Drake/Anderson, mixing materials serve to shake things up in a room, and make what might otherwise be at risk of being an overly stylized space, into a place with soul and interest. For Drake, it's all about contrast, and exploring the ways varied materials can work together beautifully.

the turquoise tile is amazing! I use alot of turquoise in my home decor projects, I just lack the skill to put together a sophisticated color palette like this one with a smart use of texture. Im very impressed.
I love hearing how his process works and would love to see the completed space.
I so badly want to see those rooms completed! Lovely!
Very nice.Would love to see the whole thing when it’s done.
Gifted man
Again super practical!
He does beautiful design work, but his advice presupposes the kind of wealth that allows people to travel, and buy antiques or inherit good ones.
The concept behind his advice is solid though...don’t thoughtlessly buy things to fill shelves. A clay sculpture made by your toddler is more meaningful than a cheap trinket from Target. Which one will you cherish in your home when you are old?
Tory Setliff Something you found while you were out thrifting can be a treasured piece, too.
I’m curious, at what point in life does a person decide to use the word “delicious” in reference to things that aren’t food. Like, I’ve never heard a teenager look at a lamp and say “that’s delicious”. Hmm 🤔....
