  • Undoubtedly the fastest HillClimb Monster currently racing in Europe is Reto Meisel´s creation, the Mercedes SLK340 Judd V8. This spaceframed, Carbon Fibre bodied 760Kg Monster is powered by a 3.4 Judd V8 engine unit nowadays producing around 630Hp/11.300Rpm.
    Here it is beating the All Time record for the Touring Car Class at the Legendary St. Ursanne - Les Rangiers HillClimb.

      +Vilius Okam Well,this car costed 700000 euro to build and 4 years to develop.That's a lot of money and time.Let's not forget it has some of the best stuff racing technology can offer.It's already fast enough to take on Peugeot 208 T16.And it's continously upgraded to be even faster.

      If you ignore all the sparks from the titanium skid-plates, it actually looks very smooth and un-dramatic at speed. You can tell how good the driver is and how well set-up the car is by the lack of nervous, twitchy movements. No heavy steering correction, no over or understeer. Just pure grip, pure speed. What a machine.

      I doubt it'd be that fast. A car that's quick around the Nordschleife isn't necessarily a good hillclimb racer - and vice versa. In the video we can see that it tops out at barely over 230 km/h. And while I'm sure they could change the final gear ratio to allow for higher vmax, the massive aero parts probably create too much drag. So the car would lose valuable time during fast sections like Schwedenkreuz or Bergwerk.

      Technically it is possible, but it would make no sense. Wankel engines are much lighter and smaller, a V8 would make the car heavier, not to mention it would ruin the perfect 50:50 balance it already has (i assumed you were talking about the FD)

      Andrew Joel Jackson sequential, also I think it is like the f1 seq it downshifts for you and you upshift. He is shifting with his right hand, I dont see it move on down shifts as much. He sometimes moves his foot to the far left when off the brake, maybe he still has one for modulating throttle or something.

      they have put titanium block/strips under the car where it scrapes, titanium helps to minimize friction and also titanium makes a lot of sparks and it´s also really strong.

      +sipposbft They are,but Judd unit in Meisel's SLK is based on their DB engine design that replaced XV675 unit,which is made for endurance racing.Those are not made from Honda parts.Judd cooperated with Honda and Yamaha as well,but mostly make their own engines.This particular engine is not based on the design you mentioned.

      +1 The closer the lower aero surfaces are to the ground, the better they work. Front splitter and rear diffuser would be drastically less effective if they were even just a couple centimeters higher up off the ground. I'd say those crazy-ass numbers on the G-meter are evidence it is all working extremely well.
