Hey friends! In this video I'm going to show you how to use and decorate the Dashboard Happy Planner! This layout is my go to favorite layout. I moved from being a mostly vertical planner to the dashboard layout and I absolutely love the switch. I love the dashboard layout because the prompts on the left help remind me what I need to do. I’m not a self starter so the phone calls and to buy specifically are super helpful. I use the top category on the right (where the ‘meals’ used to be) to record my tips as a server.
I use my dashboard for daily journaling. I change the categories on my dashboard. On the left instead of errands can be daily gratitude. The "to buy" sometimes is a to do list but this past week it was daily affirmations. I liked opening my planner and saying my affirmations each day. I changed "calls/emails" to reminders. "Bills" have become a place where I write down books I've read that week, songs I've listened to, a "nope" section (things that didnt go well in the week). That blank weekly section I've used for gratitude, affirmations, bugs /animals I saw during the week🤦🏽♀️. I was thinking of using the sections on the left to do my morning, afternoon, night routine; quotes of the week, my ipad usage, etc. But I always like watching videos to get new ideas. Thanks for your video.
Love the "nope" section... Tnkx for sharing.
Super helpful, thank you!
I recently started using a dashboard layout for my faith planner, as the traditional faith planner didn't work for me. I use the Bible App to choose a reading plan for the week, and on the left page, I write out my title, bible scripture(s), and notes and meditations. On the weekly side, I write my gratitudes for each day. I add in a prayer list, using the prayers & praises inserts from the Happy Planner. Love how this has been working for me! And I can always add extra blank inserts when I need more space to write.
Omg I was just thinking how I wasn’t liking faith planner!! Is there a way to share a pic of it?
I use a big dashboard and a classic dashboard in my frankenplanner. I absolutely LOVE the layout!!!
I think a GREAT idea for Happy Planner is to make the dashboard layout and offer different “categories/scripts” in sticker form. I wouldn’t even mind buying those stickers separately in a small sticker book. Just a thought that came to me.
That is genius!
Thank you for the video, I prefer the dashboard style for my faith planner
Hi! New person here. I would use the box with the first letters of the days for memory verses if you're into Faith Planning. 😀
Thank you from Eugene! I have been trying to find info on how to use a dashboard. I picked my first ever HP Planner by the cover and haven't started as the dashboard overwhelmed me. Thank you so much! Starting this wkend, can't wait!
So agree with you about the blank categories!
Dashboard super introvert planner sister here. 😀
I also like the Homebody dashboard layout better.
I'm using up the stickers I have until I buy more. Stickers are the real rabbit hole of planning so I'm using it up before I buy more
Just about to start in a dashboard layout for my catch-all to see if it works for me (I think I need the lines and space to write 😅). Your video gives such a great introduction to it and all your tips are really helpful - thank you so much 😊
Bought this layout for student teaching, because for the price, it was just cheaper to buy one of these for $30 after hearing good things about it. Hoping I like it!
I hope this is going well for you! Please keep me updated
Thank you ! Great tips !
I wish they would just leave the left side sections blank--no labels, no checkboxes. Lines, dots, or grid would be okay. Then I would fully be on board! Having to sticker over the headings week after week, on top of any other stickering, adds a lot of bulk. I'd love to just be able to write in whatever.
Girl yes!!! Me too!
You re right. I am using a notebook instead and at least 12 to 20 stickers. Cheers!
My bullet journal is a lot like this, so i can time block my schedule. Like if i sit at my desk, i want to knock out all my desk chores. If I make some calls, I want to hit all of them before 5pm
Also...If they left boxes blank they could include stickers and instructions, and it wouldn't be a barrier for new people lol
Also i wish they would print some boxes in grid/graph with strategic dimensions, so like you could use a 10x15 grid for meal planning, or draw lines (or put on a sticker) to make it a habit tracker for 10 habits on 7 days, or use it for a task list, whatever
I love having my custom bujo layout but i just don't want to have to make it myself, I'm disabled and have enough going on
I usually have a long list for every day that really doesn’t leave room for stickers. I find it difficult to differentiate the days when they are stacked like that. I wish they offered a week like the Moleskine or Hobonichi weeks - at least days are in order that way, so to speak, so you can draw a line connecting multi-day events or projects.
I've been using the vertical layout sence 2020 so after using 3 year's i just totally stopped using my main planner and then i have budget and faith i stopped using thouse as well so I'm wanting a different planner layout and I'm wanting to have a big planner to write everything down in just one planner then have it for tracking My medicine times because i take medicine in my feeding tube every day 6 time's a day along with putting in my appointments for infusion and my whole family appointments which includes my parents, siblings, sister in law and my neice's.
Thank you so much for sharing your lineup! I hope it's still working for you!
I gifted a Horizontal planner to a friend and kept the Dashboard layout for myself solely because the cover design lol. Great work and planning the clients I need to see that day on which week. I have extra space to decorate so I'll probably go this route but I've seen other completely decorate the entire page that leaves little room for functionality, its dumb and defeats the purpose of a planner. Non the less I think you did great not doing that.
The dashboard layout is my absolute favorite.
I don't understand how planner companies don't have instruction videos and booklets
Amen sister!
How can you tell if a sticker book is designed to be used for a Dashboard Layout? I’ve never seen a HP Sticker Book stating that, only the Mini, Classic, and Big.
2023 dashboard is different, I like yours better with the spaces for errands, calls, bills, etc.
😊
Do they make undated ones? I work retail and my weeks run sunday-saterday
Yes they do
They definitely do. That being said however - I believe when it comes to this dashboard layout at least, I think the word Monday is still written in even though the dates are not. In other words, I don’t think they make a dashboard layout where the first box says Sunday on the right hand side.
I also prefer a Sunday start to the weeks, so most of the time I just grab the pages and use vertical with the undated Sunday start ones sold at JoAnn for the nine disc planners (It’s either Maggie homes or Park Ln.)...
@@lisaschooler9992if its like the other undated ones it probably does i just White it out and re write the name i just don't want to mess with it if it has the number on the page also
@@michellehouseburg527 Great tip! Yes it’s hard to position number stickers correctly. Days of the week stickers are pretty hard to find but when you do find them they’re really cheap so you were totally right - it is much easier just to cover up the day that it is the number.
On that thought though - I think I’ll just start using that first box on the dashboard layout and start calling it Sunday and putting a word Sunday in it and just cover up those little items on the left that have a bullet points or whatever. Then maybe I’ll just Cover over the word Sunday and the Sunday box and just make it something like “weekly checkoff”..... In other words, just do a manual switching of that first box before Monday on the top left with that bottom box on the top right. You’ve got me thinking outside of the box so thank you :-) lol
