Seems to be more interested in going up Pike's Peak than taking care of customers

Thank you for an honest review. I'm mulling swapping the ABA conversion in my Vanagon Syncro Westy for a 1.4 TSI or a TDI to get more torque. I'd like to think that I can contact the conversion seller for any follow-on support, but that does not seem to be the case with Boxeer. That's too bad because the 1.4 TSI seems a perfect fit with very good power, smoothness, and gobs of low torque. I would also love a TDI, but I wonder how it would handle cruising all day at 4,000 rpm, or 76 mph in my van.

You'll love the conversion once it's done.! Good luck.

Good to here yours is working but I have been in touch with many who have had a nightmare experience with boxeer.

Since I had Boxeer do the work, I have come to find that there are many unhappy people that have used his services. For what I spent, I really expected it to come back to me as a finished vehicle. That is what I was promised.

Glow plugs aren't needed until freezing temps. Likely has a crap lower-power starter that couldn't crank fast enough. I have a VW with that engine and starts perfectly w/o glowing. At 192,000 miles even. But it sounds all like his known MO. FAS in Maine has a waaaay better kit and reputation.

Having installed one of boxeers tdi “kits” in 2021, I had a similar experience! All sorts of problems with cold starting and poor support to get enough info to finish the very incomplete “kit”. Greg sent a new glow plug relay twice, a new harness and a replacement compressor due to not telling anyone that if you run the supplied belt without hooking up the AC system, it will fry. Far, far away from plug n play! Stay away from boxeer!

The cold start issue I experienced was quite a disappointment. The glow plugs were not wired to function properly. VanGo, who did an excellent job fixing everything, contacted Greg for his input on the cold start problem and the non-functioning glow plugs. Greg’s solution was to install a new starter, battery, and ground and power cables. That was unnecessary since my van turned over just fine. What I needed was for the glow plugs to be activated. Thankfully, VanGo is a fantastic shop with highly skilled technicians. They resolved all the issues I had. Yes, it is also my opinion that everyone should stay away from Boxeer.
