Here in the UK, when you do an electric conversion you are not allowed to modify the chassis or monocoque structure in any way. You can't even drill a single new hole in it ! You have to make adapter mounts. This is if you wish to just change the vehicle's fuel type from petrol to electric. The other option if you do extensive modifications is to then take the completed vehicle to a special testing station to apply for a Single Vehicle Approval certificate which is quite expensive. Good to see that the USA is more liberal in this area. Excellent project you have there :)

Ah, yes, I am very familiar with this sort of thing! I had to completely move the location of my brake master cylinder in my EV conversion. Here's a good lesson though - next time, don't fully weld it! Just give it a few tacks (enough to hold it - which usually takes a surprisingly small amount of weld) - then leave it like that until you've got everything all situated. Then go back and fully weld everything at once.

thanks for showing the mistakes. and you aren't starting over from scratch... you are starting over from experience! like many things, this may wind up being a blessing that you just can't see yet.

You're exactly right. It's tough to take the hit on time spent, but in the end it will be a better build. One thing I'm confident about is my welds are getting much better. :)

Bummer grinding away all that work. Will you still have a good axle angle with the new motor location?

Thanks. I think so. In fact, I think it will be even better... but not sure yet. Stay tuned.
