Great video and bike kit. I am looking for a shelter for solo canoe trips. Like you, I don't bring hiking poles. Where did you purchase the 64 " pole for the Ultramid 2? Thanks!
John it’s a carbon fiber pole from Ruta Locura LLC. Although, I’m not sure I’d reccomend a carbon pole. I bought carbon fiber tent pegs from them also and have had 2 snap in the cold. It wouldn’t surprise me if at some point the pole snapped also. Would probably opt for a slightly heavier metal pole if I was to buy again. Have fun! 😎
Thanks John - I'll keep looking for a pole. I did find this from a cottage company but haven't ordered anything yet. These are made from an aluminum alloy. www.bearpawwd.com/poles_stakes/poles_stakes.php
John looks good. I’d go for one that has an extendery bit. That way you can make the mid a foot or so higher in the summer and get a nice breeze under it. In the winter, don’t use the extension, and the base of the tent will sit flush with the ground.
@@John-hp7tz - Similar to what you linked to above, I bought aluminum pole sections, inserts, and elastic cord from Quest Outfitters (www.questoutfitters.com/) to make poles for my Bearpaw Designs cuben tarp. I trimmed the sections with a pipe cutter for copper pipes and then filed/sanded the ends before assembling. It made it easy to get the total pole length that I wanted but also have it break down into sections that I am able to strap along my top tube. Multiple lengths and diameters available.
Hello. Great video. Would you say the one person insert has ample shoulder space when sitting up?
Tuba Solo the Hiker yes. It’s ok. I had it setup on its own this weekend. Great little shelter. photos.app.goo.gl/2t3FD5xNI8xTkV362
