    I always like your African archaeology videos and the storytelling element and animation just really brings all of it back to life. Well done, thanks again for partaking in this collaboration!

    Missed your videos bro! Read about this mansion a while ago while debating someone who claimed Two storey structure didjt exist in west Africa. I didn't know it was burned down like that what a shame.

      @@slimpickens01 I learned that a good number of midieval sub Saharan African villages build their homes in complexes rather than separate buildings. Which is quite interesting.

    Fantastic work as always! The way you describe the sights and sounds of daily life really makes for an immersive experience.
    Question: Are there any publications you’d recommend for those looking to stay up to date on archaeological work in the Sahel specifically?

    • @hiddenhist
      @hiddenhist  Před rokem +1

      In terms of journals, I really don't have specific recommendations. The information is often published kind of sporadically in various ones from the Journal of African Archaeology to African Archaeological Review to World Archaeology to even random ones like Nature Communications. There was a nice website at african-archaeology.net that listed off recent archaeological finds, but for some reason the operators just removed it and a similar site, africanarchaeology.org/news, just doesn't update that often. Your best bet is to just look for things that interest you and research them.

    Imagine the home you will leave behind for history. There is a higher than 0 chance that someone, somehow, hundreds or thousands of years from now will stand in the center of the room you're in right now and piece together parts of your life for posterity.
    What will they find? What did the mysterious you leave behind?

    Fantastic video, don't get me wrong, the visuals and content are amazing.
    There is one issue. Too much sibilance, (the harsh P, S and C sounds) in your audio.
    I don't know if you have tried to address this but ideally you should use a pop filter or at least a windbreak and ensure you are a hands width away from the microphone. You can also try adding equalisation during editing which will standardise your audio's frequency, most video editing software's should have something that does it automatically.
    It may not have bothered others but I have misophonia.

    • @hiddenhist
      @hiddenhist  Před rokem +1

      Dont worry, I noticed when I played back the audio, and already had tried to reduce it. Most deessers also cause some other auditory downgrade though so I had to try to reach a balance between removing it all and not ruining the rest of the audio. Didn't have a pop filter when I did the audio which was months ago and certainly didn't have time to redo it once the issue became really apparent.

    • @mastermousemice6940
      @mastermousemice6940 Před rokem

      @@hiddenhist Well I applaud you for realising that it was an issue and it is also rather interesting seeing a little into your workflow! Good luck with further projects and hopefully the audio issue won't be too much of a problem.
