This was soooo good. I added cut up uncooked bacon to bake in the oven with the beans and it is even better. My uncle makes this and I have never had baked beans like this before but now it is a main dish and a keeper. Thank you Ps. I literally just had this for the first time by my uncle this past Friday before the Labor day holiday. I didn't get all the ingredients but now I have it. Add the bacon, you won't regret it.

I used to eat this growing up, we called it "cowboy beans." It's pretty tasty and it's better if you pour off all that excess hamburger fat but another way is to smoke the hamburger in a smoker and let all the fat drip into a pan underneath or at least put a few drops of liquid smoke in it to get some smoky flavor. Also, Stubbs, "Sticky Sweet" instead of Sweet Baby Rays.
oh wow these are great, like the old church ladies make em. the cinnamon was a great touch. i used molasses, a bit more hot sauce, and threw in an jalapeno as well. thanks!

Yes the grease is part of the recipe. You don’t use all of the grease just a small amount it adds flavor just like those who use bacon grease in greens for flavor.

Try cowboy mexicans beans basically same but do borracho style crock pot beans with onions jalapenos bacon sausage and ground beef good with tortillas corn or flour and of course also good with cornbread
I wanna try yours, but if im cooking it myself, I'll probably leave out the syrup and brown sugar, since the beans are alright pretty sweet, especially the brown sugar ones.

I just recently made this and I didn't drain any of it off. It turned out pretty good.
You need to save some of the grease. If you are gonna cook it on the grill you definitely have to keep the grease. At lease half a cup. No dry beans.

Try mustard,I use brown sugar in barbecue sauce and ketchup and brown sugar as well
