  • Good Morning CZcams and welcome back to another Wednesday morning HOW TO video. In this installment of our HOW TO series we will discuss everything you need to know about the POPPING CORK. We will discuss how to use a popping cork, when to use a popping cork and of course why to use a popping cork.
This is a very versatile presentation style for salt water fish that everyone needs to add to their arsenal. From fishing soft plastics under this cork to pitching live shrimp under them they consistently catch trout and redfish everywhere from TEXAS to NORTH CAROLINA.
Hope you enjoy this HOW TO and remember to drop a comment below if I didn't cover something you'd like to know about fishing with a POPPING CORK.

I fish with popping cork a lot and always have one rigged in the boat on drifts. It’s awesome when a lit up red also hits the cork. A point you don’t stress that much is that the “slide” carries the cork weighted end leading on the cast and provides tremendous distance on the lob cast you have to make with these productive contraptions. Another point to stress is that the cork floats at the top of the wire which is what makes the “pop” and then the weight of the beads and lures pull down the line and push the cork back to the top. Wonderful fish finder rigs!!! Thanks, Brad

Wow Brad you were up early posting this, it hit my notification early darkthirty this morning! Thanks for the tips, instruction and going those extra steps of giving us the hows, what, why and when for popping corks. If you ever decide to move away from facility work and turn around, you would make an excellent teacher! Excellent video as always, looking forward the next!

I use a 4horseman popping cork similar shape like the one you suggested and use it with a 1/8 oz jig and Gulp shrimp…caught quite a few trout and reds on it.

Great video with great information. I’m a recent subscriber and am glad I’ve found your channel.
As a guy that also launches out of Jamaica Beach, usually with a 7 year old son on board, I found myself nodding along while you talked about keeping kids engaged and having a good time with popping corks and circle hooks. I don’t have nearly the know-how that you do, so it’s fun to watch and learn from someone fishing the exact same waters we are fishing in, to make myself a little better so I can ensure that my son has fun on the water. (I’d also be lying if I said I wasn’t also watching closely in your videos to try to learn some new spots to try around JB and west bay).
Love the channel. Y’all keep up the good work, and maybe one of these days we’ll literally “see you out there”.

Popping cork is my favorite way to fish. Definitely a must if you have impatient kids! Just switched to using the Bomber brand. No more creases in the wire like with the Cajun Thunder. Great info 👍
