Good looking sub! To be honest I’ve never even given DC Audio a real LOOK until today. And Dam that thing looks really really Good! And I learned me something about “coil rock” and distortion and the sound wave! Thank You Sir and miss’s MB!
He isn't entirely correct about coil rock. Those dimples in the surround he showed and that noise, wasn't necessarily from clipping. Clipping doesn't make the coil shift. It shifts when the sub exceeds xmax. That's what those dimples are...the sub exceeding Xmax
@@majicdude88 to be needlessly pedantic, coil rock and surround dimpling technically has nothing to do with xmax. It's about how well the soft parts are able to maintain vertical linearity, and the tolerances involved in the voice coil/pole piece. Although to be fair, any speaker that isn't garbage shouldn't have any noticable coil rock inside xmax. And you are correct that clipping has nothing to do with a dimpled surround or coil rock
Love DC subs. Only gripe i have is the coils do get smelly after playing for awhile, but i havent had any catastrophical failures yet. They do sound great and get loud, not to mention they are absolutely gorgeous subs.
Im not an expert but.... I dont think it had anything to do with clipping. They are made to play in a small box, so when you play them free air they cant take as much power as others.
Hey MB, could you help me out, as far as these or the B2 audio im looking to put them in a 2018 Nissan Rogue. You have an idea of correct size in that space.
Mb can you do some videos on linear VS progressive spiders? Spider stiffness in general . Packs VS single spider.. and what to specifically look for .. I feel like the spider is more important than people realize. Everyone focuses on motor and surrounding. Thanks
I don't think there is anything to physically look for. It's like a suspension spring in a car, they all look alike. The important parts of a spider is the measured response over distance. Then how that response is matched to the other factors of that sub. They all should work together to achieve the desired output.
@@JasonWW2000 respectfully I disagree.. look how many old spiders sag.. tensile rips.. soft suspension VS stiff.. I think spiders are very critical.. look at the rolls in a dd spider.. they don't look like every other spider sir..
Just for reference, a linear spider will have identical looking rolls from outside to inside. These typically have a linear amount of resistance when stretched. A progressive roll will have larger or smaller rolls or be spaced differently so that as its stretched more the resistance increases or decreases in a curved output. One is not necessarily better than the other, they need to be matched to the rest of the parts to get a desired output.
@@JasonWW2000 yes sir.. thank you for dropping the knowledge friend. 💕 . I was just looking for his input as a whole on spiders..again. with nomex, rubber, cotton, different materials and designs spiders are actually very different.. I know the very basics myself.. but I thought it be a good discussion for the fam
@@matthewguynn2336 I don't think MB would be the right person to talk about in-depth spider details. You really need to talk to an engineer who designs and tests the drivers to fully explain them. You might be a good discussion point.
How can you "clip it" if your amp should be gained such that it should send clean signal even at max volume? Maybe over powered. But that dimpling is seen on a lot of subs that have that thick roll surround, its just a bad design imo.
I think he misspoke. The loud sound seemed like the former was hitting the back plate, so over excursion. I don't think he's talked about how the gain is set on his garage amp. The dimpling seems typical of the surround at max excursion.
@@JasonWW2000 I would assume his garage amp is set conservatively as he typically sets his gain slightly less than the exact point he has said in other videos. There are very few subs that use that fat type of surround and dont have the dimples. Those dimples stand out like a sore thumb.
I personally also own the prime 1200 he is using.. monster Amp and shares many bdcp components. That said. while his gain probably isn't at clip.. to my knowledge his power supply isn't big enough 60/70 amp... he has said that before so when he pushes it the Amp clips bc of power loss..
These are some of my favorite subs ever!!!! Three of these instead of 212s!! That's set up sound so good in a car

I was thinking the former was mechanically hitting the back plate due to overexcursion.
When you said it was clipping I thought it was bottoming out? It looked more like your hitting the back of the motor not clipping.
Yessssssssssssss
Still have my DC lvl xl 10s that I turned into 12s

Here's an interesting question that I have. DC Level 3's or Kicker CompQ's?
Sound quality compq loudness DC level 3.
I cant make my mind up on which amp to run for my b2 riot 10's been looking heavy at that 1500bdcp and that rage 2500
I have s T2500-1bdcp , I have the box and birth sheet. I paid 1700$ they sre selling for 1299 right now. I'll let it go for 1000 even. It's brand new
I have a T2500-1bdcp brand new, I'll let it go for 1000 even, I paid 1700. Now they are 1200
What is the overall height of this subwoofer?
Will those fit with a 2.5 inch seat lift with a custom enclosure in a 16 f150 supercrew
@@chiefer8631 need 3.5” seat lift sir
Get a dayton 8 inch max x or reference series
