- In today's episode we take a break from hitting the streets and hit the roof tops instead. Here is a look at the kind of roofing work I do along side street scrapping. If you would like to see more please leave a comment. Thanks for watching.
#flatroofing #suprema #calor
Note: This is not a how to.... I should have put 2mm on the Arris rail before I pulled the welts up but it was a year and half since I'd been on a roof so Im a bit rusty and put it right after. Yes the timber really should be primed but I wasn't given any and they were OK to go ahead with out it.
Yeh . If ya gonna video yourself! Please do it properly 😂😂
Nice work Vandal very interesting, more, please.
That's the first time I've ever actually seen that being done or how it's done thank you 👍
Spot on work Vandal 😎
Onwards and upwards brother 🙏🏻
😃🍻👍🏻
That job you did was better than the roofer i had work for me. Now i know what you just showed me i can do the next job on my own. Thanks very much for that. 👍👍👍
🖒🖒🖒
that wouldnt be a roofer you had with you if you think this abortion is ok lol
Very nice, Vandal! I miss my days as a contractor! Health won't let me do it anymore. So now I scrap!
Keep these videos coming aha 😂 getting me through lockdown
I have to say brother you do have skills!!!!😝
Great I found it quite interesting
Nice work indeed that’s how I do my flashing to the gutter too well when I lay Chippings never had a problem. Great advice mate sorry about lord chestnut conways exacting skills 😂😂 good luck in your work.
Thanks Vandal you showed me exactly what I wanted .
Love the way this is in Stereo with the Roofing Blow Torch
Alright! Good times indeed. It's cold and grey here in North Carolina as well. Bleh! Cheers
Great job vandal especially on your own bro welted drips straight as a dye all torch on now in my day we had a pot burner and tubs of bitchumen then coat the green mineral for top layer . Take my hat of to ya doing all that on your own . Good video too 👍
I got the pot burner going on a job now
If it leaks....blame Dave 😁
Spot on work Mr🦊
Don't go roofing yourself ✌🏻
So that's how they do it!!👍
Great job mate,we do our drips exactly the same 👍👍
What underlay over front drips???? Wow thats a new one!!!!!
Loved this! Yes. More please. Had my house roof redone a few years ago and wasn't here to see what they did. Results are not that great for the price I paid. Shed now needs a new roof and I'll be doing it myself. Bet I do a better job then the hired roofers but certainly not as good work as what you do.
you're going to burn your fucking house down if you try this
@@JustEnjoytheGames lol First of all, I'll be putting a roof on my shed. And second, no torch will be involved. It's a small shed. My house has a very low pitched roof. You have to crawl in the attic space. The tiles should have been tarred on better. Some of them have already lifted in just 4 years. With the winters and winds we have it won't last long. I paid $5,000 for a 24' X 38' foot house with an attached 14' X 20' car port. And they didn't even put singles over my small back entrance. My neighbor said they only stayed there for half the day. Needless to say I am now home whenever there is work being done on my house. If you're a roofer, I hope you do a good job of it.
Interesting watch bro.
nice job i need to do my shed roof again
Nice job so far, i hope you were eyeing all the scrap next door and in the area
Next door has some scrap 😎
Nice job
Great Video.I learned a lot. What is the felt you warm up (Trade name)called and which one is best to buy. Thanks
A long long time ago we put our welts on ( drips to you ) with a jug of bitumen, scraper and watered joints that peeled off when cold and I promise you, it was quicker than that, oh yes, and we didn;t have timber to keep them straight !!
Old out dated tech.
So are the flashing pieces just under the timber then folded back onto roof?
Better work than some pro roofers
Best material in your opinion for flat roofs? Tidy job
Great vid, thanks for sharing.
What system did you use? IKO? Other?
Thanks
I use suprema SL400 🖒
@@Vandal-Vlogs thanks for the info, much appreciated 👍👍
Nicely formed drip edge. But I don't understand why heat abit then heat another bit then another bit. It should heat the felt and stick to drip wood. Then heat the other bit and stick directly to the roof. Should take no longer than 30 secs to pull up a drip edge flashing. U take close to 2minutes cause the amount of time u burn abit and put the gun down. Then burn another bit.lol
Heeeerrreeee wwwweeee go me badger NEW VIDEO get in
At last a roofer who knows what he is doing. God Bless you mate.
What camera do you use ?
Hi, Whats the ideal angle from front to back for drainage?
1:60
I know nothing about ruffing but I know why, you look like your really high up and walking on them little boards like your on the ground. I could never do that, other then me afraid of heights, it looks really good from we’re I’m sitting. Lol
Looks good from my house as well😆
Have me anxiety watching you torch towards the house 😱...
Like the way you cut the flashing at.an angle on both sides, I don't do them that way, but noticed they sit nice, do you cut them square or do you add cm for.the overlap?
I cut them square. Yeah they just sit better and don't look to high when you look down the roof line.
Put part 2 on here m8.
I lost the footage 😣
Is this the toplayer 😳?
Yes its called a cap sheet.
MY FRIEND CAN I KNOW WHAT
BRAND AND MODEL IS YOUR TORCH ???
CONNECT TO PROPANE TANK RIGHT ???
IF THERE IS EXTRA ADAPTERS LET ME
KNOW PLEASE.
THANK YOU.
Not using bitumen primer? Tut tut tut!
They didn't supply it
how many layers you put on
That one had 3 but usually only need 2
@@Vandal-Vlogs ok thanks im hoping you will show how you do 3 layers in your next episode on the top roof
No primer!!?
Have you got shares in bottled gas FFs
Yes
Why don't you just run the capsheet straight over the falls. Just upstand the sides of the roof. Seen this before and always water lying were the drips have been done 1st
Cowboy way. Learn how to install torch on felt before you imply incorrect techniques. Manufacturers installation vids online.
Because after strong winds you can find your felt in your neighbours garden
The only thing I would have done is prime the wood or used pile and stick for a better contact but very nice work
Cheers 🖒 You are right I should use primer on the arris but I asked for some but they said it would be ok so I make sure the wood is nicely chard so the oils come out a bit. The felt is 4mm so it gives me a bit of bitchy to play with.
Great video. I wish to see the cap sheet phase as well 🥹😄
your drip formers are on the wrong way round, they are not primed or bitumen impregnated, you have no where near enough fixings, they should be 150mm apart, shall i go on ? ok, your underlay does not cover the drip batten, the drip batten is not primed, and with no facia board you should have used a 2x2 so they have room for the gutter. oh and its bleed not bead, beads are what you wear on your wrist.
The drip formers (drip cards) are smooth side out like they should be.
My nails are 100mm apart
The batton was added after to make sure it would clear the gutter and leave room for the fascia. I didn't build the roof.
Its called a bead not a bleed.
The only thing I done wrong is not cover the the baton with 2mil and put 2mil on the arris before bringing the flashing up.
No big deal. And it was 2 years since I stepped back on a roof I was s bit rusty.
The finish is 10/10 don't care what you say.
@@Vandal-Vlogs oh sorry, i just paused the vid at 2:08 they look a lot wider than 100mm lol. drip formers not drip cards lol should be rough side out and primed so the drips have a key, and that 25mm batten you put on will only leave 10mm for the gutter bracket and that is not enough.
a 2x2 easy edge is 45mm and that allows the correct drip overhang to fit a facia and gutter.
also your drip former should have been set 5mm past the front drip batten to allow for the thickness of the return drip.
you did say to let people tell you how your not doing it properly.
i am an iko, bauder, langley, moy ,radmat ect ect approved contractor of 47 years and i'm just pointing out that this is far from properly lol.
its not bad bad, i would give it 3 out of 10.
keep it up, your getting there, oh and that italien gun you got there, the ignitor melts after a while they suck, get yourself a grun. and you might want to try waxed rubber gloves as the bitumen don't stick the them.
oh and its not sacrificial its called a salvage edge.
You leave the beads on. Why don't you remove them & look real pro.
Old torch on APP felt let you do that with damping down bleed lines. New torch on felt is rubberised and a lot more adhesive than previous products. Under manufacturers requirements a bleed is required to prove sufficient adhesion. No way of removing bleed lines without damaging material or compromising seal.
WTF
No rhythm with the gun and iv never wore gloves anyone wearing gloves when doing touch on ant got a clue
